1. FPL Question Time - How to make gains amid Salah popularity just now

Since I put the work in, I'll post on it's own thread if you're interested. I have no angle here, just putting the information out there. As a midfielder, Salah has scored 16pts more from goal points than if he were a midfielder. As a forward, Salah would have got 7 extra bonus points from goals scored. Therefore, as a midfielder, he has scored 9 extra points from goals scored so far this season (of 16 goals). So his goals have been worth +0.56 per goals as a midfielder this season, as opposed to if he were a forward (compare to the common statement that goals are worth 1.00 extra each as a midfielder). [I actually think this is quite low, and the average forward extra bonus points is a bit higher than 0.43 per goal (as Salah's is) but can't back that up.] So of his 177 points, a total of 22 points came from his classification as a midfielder. 13pts from CSs and 9 extra points from goals. » Read

FYI I just looked into it. Salah's extra points per goal as a mid so far this season = 16 Salah's extra bonus points if he were a forward this season = 7 So his goals have been worth 0.56 extra as a midfielder this season than if he were a forward (as opposed to the common statement that they are worth 1.00 extra each). You're only backing up Virg's point by naming Andy as the cause of your win. That means he's the cause of the more substantial losses too 😉 just saying. No ban pls » Read

  12. Burnley looking much improved ahead of Old Trafford trip next week 1 hour, 29 mins ago

< 20% ownership in top 10k at the weekend. One of the many differences from my team to others' for much of the season is my avoidance of Madisson, Wilson, Fraser, Richarlison, Mitrovic and many other popular options like that. There are more "popular" players that you don't own than "unpopular" players that you do. Maybe our focus on who we need to buy (and who is going to do well) on this site biases us towards making more transfers than we should. Perhaps we should have more discussions about which players we shouldn't buy each week. Idea for a featured HT each week: Breakdown players: Who to avoid these coming weeks? (But I guess it's natural that people argue for and defend the players they want and already have in their teams, and normal that people prefer to be active rather than passive). » Read

Yeah. Currently my lowest owned players are Alli, Hamer, Kamara and Martial. But I don't own Salah, Hazard, Richarlison, Jiménez, Fabianski, Anderson, Firmino, Alonso or Luiz, who all had » Read

At the moment, I think it's only a two match ban if it leads to a goal, so a blanket 2 match ban in all cases, would be even stronger than the most extreme punishment now (though would be more consistent, aka fair). The minumum supsension of one week, applied consistently in all cases, seems enough to me, especially since we could see multiple bans each week. As you say we don't want to completely disrupt the teams. Anyway, have a good GW yourself 🙂 » Read

Your whole team is a differential. If Ragaboly's site was 100% operational, it would be easy to demonstrate. Take a some of your highest owned assets, and you might be surprised to find that very few people in the top 10k actually own all of them together. Depending on who you pick, it could even be only 3 players that makes your team unique to all the others, or a combination of 4 or 5 that only you own. Incredible stuff! Following Brosstan's method, I would say is the most foolproof strategy unless you're targeting a specific individual to beat (and even then, it's better to ignor the players he has untill the last couple gameweeks or so imo) » Read

I'm happy to wait. You said it was 100% going to be Salah, not me 😉 Nothing wrong with asking to know why you believe what you believe. "Why not make it 5?" is a reasonable question imo. What's special about 2? Currently, simulation is punishable by either a yellow card, a second yellow card (sent off + one-match ban, I believe), OR a two-match ban (retrospectively). My question is, if we apply a consistent punishment for simulation, where should the threshold be? In my opinion, with VAR, maybe even a yellow card is enough of a deterrent, since players would be very unlikely to get away with it. A red card and a one-match ban would also make a diveunworthy of the risk for the player, unless you were in the dying inutes of a match, desperate to score a goal (in which case, maybe even a 5 match ban isn't enough to stop people diving). So what about without VAR? I think 2 matches, for a start, is too severe when compared to a single yellow card, which is also a punishment for simu… » Read
