The Telegraph kicks off…
The Fantasy League are after your cash already…
It’s still only June but the Fantasy League guys are clearly looking to steal a march on competitors and grab the early Fantasy Football cash by taking registrations for the new season already. Sign ups for the new season Classic, Auction and Pro games are now available at their site, plus there’s details of a batch of new features added to their games.
ContinuedJose’s moans offer African reminder
Jose kept quiet when the fixtures were announced but just days later he’s started his usual pre-season gripes, although this time his moaning has handed us Fantasy Managers a timely reminder. Mourinho remarked yesterday that he will no longer consider signing African players as the reality of losing the backbone of his side to the African Nations Cup in January, hit home. Chelsea are likely to lose Drogba, Kalou, Essien, Mikel and Geremi to the tournament for the crucial New Year period.
The African Nations Cup Finals will be taking place in Ghana from January 20 to February 10. This means Fantasy Managers could lose players for up to 4 matches between those dates.
It’s not just Chelsea affected - there are a whole list of players who could play a part and it’s certainly worth considering before you add the likes of Martins, Yakubu and Yobo to your pre-season auction shortlist. To help you out I’ve created a permenant table of players who could be affected by the tournament here. I’ll be updating this page regularly as more signings are made and more nations seal their qualification.
ContinuedThe fixture fun begins
As you’ve probably noticed, the Premiership fixtures were published today and while I’m not going to risk the wrath of the Premier League by listing them here, they do serve up an interesting dilemma very early on. The second set of fixtures, scheduled for August 14 and 15 respectively find Liverpool facing West Ham at Anfield while Arsenal are due to travel to face Newcastle. However, both these games are to be postponed as they clash with the first leg of the third round of the Champions League qualifier. This is compounded by the fact that Liverpool then face Chelsea on the Saturday while the Gunners visit Blackburn - both very tough games. This stuttered, rather difficult start for both Liverpool and Arsenal should certainly be considered by Fantasy Managers looking to invest early on in the likes of Henry, Fabregas, Gerrard and indeed the Liverpool defence.
Having had just a quick glance around the fixtures it’s Boro who look to have the best start. In their first 5 games they start with Blackburn at the Riverside before travelling to Wigan and Fulham followed by Newcastle and Birmingham at home. A very reasonable set of fixtures, avoiding all of the big hitters, which makes Boro players worth considering for the first month or so if pre-season form shows promise.
ContinuedScout Report - Tuncay Sanli
Boro have tonight agreed terms with Turkish striker Tuncay Sanli and in the first of many reports on newcomers to the Premiership, I’ve had a closer look at what he could bring Boro and Fantasy Managers next season, including a peek at some rather lovely goals…
ContinuedPre Season Training
After a month away from the site, I’ve returned with some new ideas and designs to try out. You’ll notice a few changes going on in the next few weeks as I give the site a spring clean ready for next season. I’ve already upgraded the content management system that runs the site and I’ve added polls and tarted up the Scout Picks selection a little. In the coming weeks they’ll be more cosmetic improvements, plus I’ll start rolling out some features and articles by way of preparation for the new fantasy season - so keep us bookmarked.
