Updated Team News

It’s a funny old week in fantasy football with the gameweek in the Fantasy Premier League game starting this Saturday, even though the bulk of the games won’t be played until Tuesday and Wednesday. That’s meant I’ve put together a first pass at the team news for you, although this will be updated in full after this weekend’s cup action for those playing other fantasy games.

If you’re playing the FPL game then, you’re risking players getting injured over the weekend and you could also be a victim of rest and rotation. With that in mind, you might want to consider players from those clubs not taking part in Cup action.: Villa, Blackburn, Sunderland, Birmingham, Bolton, Fulham, Everton and West Ham have no FA Cup commitments before their Premiership fixtures.

My current player rankings were updated last night and I’ll be going over these one more time later this evening before naming my Scout Picks in time for the FPL gameweek deadline.

  1. Yea, lousy gameweek, only 1 match in the weekend.
And to make it even worse I need to transfer out 1 player in each position: James, Campbell, Cahill, and out of form Santa Cruz.
Won’t make any transfers until I’ve seen Mark’s scout picks :D

  2. You’d like to think that Wenger will save his big guns for the Prem game and put the lesser lights in tomorrow, if at all.

  3. And as captaincy.. Ronaldo or Adebayor?

  4. I want to bring in Jenas, but who should I take out:
    Gerrard, Fabregas, M.Petrov, Bentley, Cahill?

  5. @ Ollie - Ditch Bentley or Cahill for Jenas. Cahill is banned for the next match and B’burns next three fixtures don’t look to have too many points in them for Bentley.

Le Sulk to open his Chelski account against Reading? I think so. Captaincy material? Not so sure I can wrestle the armband away from Ron.

  6. I would lose Gerrard, for price compared to performance he offers the least value. Besides, petrov has derby next anyway.

  7. @Ollie. If you’re happy that Jenas’ next games are Everton (A), Man Utd (H) and Derby (A), plus taking into account the fact that Tottenham will not have a game at all come GW27 (that goes for Chelsea as well), then I would probably opt to drop Cahill seeing as he is to serve a 1 match ban and has been ineffective of late. Having said that, so has Gerrard, and he would free up some cash for you, but he’ll probably bite you in the ass with a few goals/assists/bonus points as soon as you drop him!

  8. Noble has 4 yellow, right?

  9. @Mark:
As an FYI, the Yahoo! league locks in players as of noon GMT (similar to FPL, I presume), so a final update before you go to bed this evening is greatly appreciated.

Personally, any changes in your news regarding the likelihood of Ballack & Nelson missing their Premiership fixtures would be great.

  10. I wouldnt get rid of Gerrard, he wont play tomorrow against Havant and waterl-looville and has a double gameweek coming up soon in the fantasy premier league, and probably the rest of the fantasy games, they are due to play west ham which was post-poned earlier in the season.

  12. @Torjus. Yes, according to the BBC website, Noble has 4 bookings, all received in the Premier League. Mark does have him listed, but only on the full list.

  13. Why dont more people talk about rosicky he seems to score good points week in week out!

I’m thinking of bringing him in for Bentley.

Is there something this poor aussies doesnt know about rosicky. Surely against newcastle he will get a assist or a goal.

Here is my team any advice would be appreciated, we dont get a lot of news down under.

    GK : Hahnemann, James
DEF : Shorey, Laursen, Wheater, Upson, Scharner
MID : Jenas, Ronaldo, Bentley, Fabregas, Gerrard
    FWD : Cole, Benjani, Adebayor

    Mark Great site!

G’day. Dunno about the FPL but in the Yahoo! league The Little Miestro is over-priced relative to his points production.

  16. My tean is:

    GK: Hart, Cerny
DEF: Laursen, Clichy, Wheater, Lescott, Belletti

  17. Ollie,

I know you prob wanted an answer before the fpl deadline, but i would save the money and monitor the m. bent situ now they have signed king. wigan do have some quite favorable fixtures but if him and king get rotated or he loses his place altogether he made need to be outed.

Otherwise possible upgrade Clichy to a man u defender?

  18. Has Laursen already been given 3 bonus points for every remaining Premiership game?!
