Gameweek 11 - The FPL Captain Poll
It seems like only yesterday we did this (it almost is) but your new poll for the next gameweek - fast approaching this weekend - is now live.
While tonight’s games will obviously be a barometer for form, feel free to commit yourself to an early vote, or use the link in “Featured Discussions” in the middle column, to pop back in here later in the week to make your vote and add your opinion.

ronny?

Dimitar Berbatov!!!
[Reply]
Ronaldo for me. As I have said before, to justify the price tag I tend to always make him captain and see him as two Ronaldo’s for £7m each rather than one Ronaldo for £14m!!!
[Reply]
Reply by Alexi on October 29 9:59 am:
nice way to look at it Gordon! Surely u must justify the money spent on him, anyways i always say to myself that if there is anyone u can count on it has to be the current best player in the world? On top of that i dont know when we will see a goalscoring midfielder like him again!
[Reply]
im liking lampards fixture for this one……..and i think theres a real risk of ronnie being rested iof he plays 2nite. the big four all have favorable fixtures…..high scoring week me thinks.
[Reply]
Reply by Dimitrije on October 29 10:13 am:
My thinking exactly, especially in view of the fact I don’t have Ronaldo…. That reminds me of the writing on the shirt I had
No money
No job
No girlfriend
No problems

That’s very true, and echoes what George Orwell said in ‘Down and Out in Paris and London’;
When you have no money, when you really hit rock bottom, you have no concerns beyond short term gratification- your next meal, your next ciggie- purely because the future is obliterated.
Nietzsche said that true happiness is living like a cow in a field.
Camus would probably say that freedom to choose makes you anxious.
Sometimes it’s best to let things slide……

Both Lampard and Ronaldo have good looking home fixtures for GW11 so I’ll make my decision judging on their respective performances tonight.

Reply by Croublade on October 29 12:02 pm:
Also, how was playing Zaki against Liverpool a good idea?
[Reply]
I have Lamps too but really dont like how Deco affects his output! Chelsea are actually better without the Pora IMO!
[Reply]
What do u think Fab out Deco in?
Thanx for ur help
[Reply]
Reply by Dimitrije on October 29 10:32 am:
I would wait for two more games, unless you have no other concerns in your team in which case sure, Deco if healthy might even be more cash friendly version of Lampard because when they play side by side they pretty much share the points
[Reply]
Reply by Tommy on October 29 10:45 am:
I personally will be keeping a very close eye on evertons cahill. He is in the right position as in just behind the lone striker, is a proven points/goal scorer, a little injury prone but a better option than both fab and deco imo..

Reply by Luke on October 29 11:46 am:
a little injury prone is an understatement

Some nice fixtures coming up too, and a snip at 7.7m

I’m trying to get Cahill in by rearranging over a couple of weeks. He has consistently picked up good points for a long time, barring injuries (which are becoming more and more frequent). Worth the risk in my mind. If he gets injured, take him out the next week…

Thinking on taking out Fab for Deco?
Any help would be good
Friedel
Evra, Ferdinand, Bosingwa, Hutton
Ronaldo, Lampard, Fabregas, Ashbee
Davies, Bednar
Thanx again
[Reply]
Reply by Timbo on October 29 10:46 am:
I think you need to upgrade quite a few players - having Hutton, Ashbee, Davies and Bednar as starters looks quite weak. Who are your subs? Maybe change Fab for Arteta, Cahill or SWP and then upgrade a striker.
[Reply]
Reply by Coozie on October 29 10:49 am:
Subs= Schwarzer, windas, mullins, meite

Reply by Dimitrije on October 29 10:46 am:
sure, You’ll even free up some fonds.
[Reply]
Reply by Timbo on October 29 11:00 am:
I think it shows the problem of having three such expensive players in the side - you can rely on Bosingwa, Evra, and Ferdinand but having Ronny, Lampard and Fabregas is weakening your team too much elsewhere I think.
I’ve just gone for Ronny:
VDS (Schwarzer)
Bosingwa, Agger, Clichy, Garrido (Figueroa)
Ronaldo, Arteta, SWP (Denilson, Lawrence)
Defoe, Carew, Zaki

If he doesn’t do much tonight fergie should play him V Hull with the hope he will score heavily against a knackered (after playin chelski) team
Fingers crossed

Obviously Ronaldo… SAF gave a 25 goal target this season which is abt half of what he accomplised last season, which is sure to piss him off a little… He’ll want to score more than that.

[Reply]
Reply by Fran on October 29 2:25 pm:
Brad - I have been telling everyone who does know their football that Ronaldo will not score even near 31 goals this season but maybe his assists will increase. Rooney and Berbatov will be sharing the goals obliviously!

Surely, league games are currently more important than CL games for SAF.. Ronaldo to play vs Hull, and will be dropped for the Celtic game possibly?

Anyone seen the top points scoring team for FPL for the gameweek so far?
He has 3 Arsenal players (including leaving Fabregas on the bench), 3 United players, 3 West Brom players, and 3 Newcastle players. His attack force of Martins, Ameobi, and Miller all scored or assisted in last nights game. Funny or what.

Rooney is rested tonight according to bbc.co.uk, Tevez to take his place.
Ronaldo to start.
[Reply]
Reply by Fiji on October 29 7:09 pm:
Yeah, and Dimitar Berbatov to score good points!!!
[Reply]
Alright guys!
This is what im thinking.
Give ronaldo one more chnce tonight, then sell him if he underperforms. I realise he has scored well recently but at £14m, he should be flying. Am thinking of selling him and using the funds to replace him with a cheap midfielder and torres. That will give me a forward line of:
zaki Berbatov torres
am thinking Berbatov is due some higher scoring home games soon, and liverpool have a great run of game, as Mark said!!
What do you guys think? No risk, no return??

But he captained Berbatov, who would have only got him 4 points as captain in the end. So in fact he made a mistake; both Ronaldo and Lampard were equal in terms of output last week.
[Reply]
Fran I bet you Hull get thumped tonight. An early goal for the Chelsea and then it will finish up about 3-0 or 4-0.
Hull have done v well so far but their position in the table is only a blip. It flatters them so much. They are nowhere in the league of the Uniteds, Chelseas, Liverpools and Arsenals of this world. They dont even come close to teams like Villa.
They are going to get a serious wake up call over the next few gamweeks IMO.

Haha. Fran has a good point.
I do also believe that Hull could surprise everyone tonight and hold up well against Chelsea. Hull are flying high with confidence and Chelsea perhaps not after their defeat from Liverpool at home. Let’s not forget that Chelsea haven’t gone into a premier league fixture after just losing at home, for about 2 years now.

Which team is higher in the league at the moment out of Arsenal and Hull. Ok, on paper Arsenal have a better looking line-up but that is not reflected on the charts. You’re right, maybe Hull will start slipping now? But if they win one of their next 2 matches it will send shockwaves through the fantasy league and football in general. Not impossible to do but hard!

3 week plan. Your thoughts please:
Laursen out for Cuellar.
Garrido out for Traore.
0.5m left to strengthen midfield.
assuming prices stay the same but in any case it’s spare money which could be put to good use. Laursen isn’t getting the goals this term so in theory any Villa defender should do similarly well. Apart from the fact that Laursen has 8 bonus points, which is good for a defender.
I’m not sure.
