It looks as though Berbatov is out of the fantasy reckoning this weekend. There are numerous reports indicating that the Bulgarian is not only out of United’s trip to Villa Park, he’s also set to be sidelined for 10 days which could see him miss three matches.
Berbatov picked up a thigh strain in Bulgaria’s 6-1 mauling at the hands of Serbia on Wednesday and while information on the injury was scarce from Old Trafford, Berbatov’s own agent revealed that club officials had ruled his player out for 7-10 days. That will put at risk of missing the Champions League game with Villarreal and possibly the clash with City on Sunday week…
Tevez now looks likely to start up front at Villa Park, with Rooney still a slight doubt having missed the England win over Germany with a chest infection and a calf injury. Ferguson still has some doubts over the availability of Ronaldo who will not return to the UK until later on today after his appearance for Portugal in Brazil. In many ways however, the injury to Berbatov has surely put pay to any thought of Ferguson resting him.

That’s just what I did. Belhadj has been involved in all the game since he started in GW4, while Traore has been taken off or put on for the last 3 or 4. Reckon his fantasy point luck has about ran out.

There aint no dilemma! If you can afford Torres GET HIM!!! not only are his fixtures better i mean we all know what he does at Anfield and look how many nice games he has at home?! Hes much better than Anelka IMO anyways…its a no brainer lads (for me)!

Depends on your bench, Captain. I have Berbatov and haven’t made my free transfer (yet) but I plan on keeping him. Didn’t fancy he’d get too many points at Villa anyway so was considering benching him – as my bench (Figueroa, Teixera, Traore – if he plays) all have good fixtures. I bought him at 9.2 so will not be able to get him back (easily) if I sell him – and, providing the red ‘i’ goes in he won’t drop in price but will drop in ownership – meaning when he does become fit, and with the potential of a couple of double gameweeks coming up, his price will inevatably rise – probably significantly.
However, you’re in a slightly different boat as, if you’re going for Anelka, you will have the power to buy back. Anelka only has to score one goal to make it worth the 4pt hit. It’s a risk but probably a risk that’s worth taking.
a.young is going to have a big points score soon, can’t beleive all these people taking him out! he’s one of the best midfielders in FPL!

deco’s done nothhing since coming back from injury, he never scored many at barca.
deco will share free kick duties with lamps, but lamps is still pen taker and loves to break late into the box.
still go for lamps as he’s got more chance of getting points, goals worth more, assists through corners, free kicks, general play, and bonus magnet!
torres can only score and get bonus points, i’ve had a look at torres as he can easily score 2-3 a game, but if not where are the points?

I think Diarra is back or might be… I’m in the same boat myself. I’m gonna hold fire though. I’m starting with him in my first 11 and see whathappens after that. Its too expensive to spend 4 points on a defensive change. You need a gaurenteed clean sheet to at best break even. Noth worth it… Unless of course you do not need to make your free change elsewhere!

A bit off topic but related. If berbatov is out and roony doubtful, i can see ronaldo being pushed up to a more forward position behind tevez. That would surely make him favorite for the armband ahead of anelka even though they have villa? Any thoughts? Have been looking at others apart from ronaldo this gw for captain but just might stick.
I think thats a really interested theory Tommy. That could certainly be backed up by last season where he played almost as a striker a lot of the time.
