With Clint Dempsey facing a long-term absence and Bobby Zamora still making his way back from a dislocated collarbone, Fulham find themselves with limited up-front options right now. Roy Hodgson, reeling from the loss of, arguably, his most consistent players this campaign, may now face little choice but to strengthen his attacking options as a result but in the meantime, it looks like a more attacking role for Zoltan Gera…

Gera has mainly played wide midfield this season, but of late, has occasionally found himself starting just behind a lone striker, a position, the Hungarian says himself, that is one he enjoys. The return of Andy Johnson from injury still needs to be treated with caution, and as Erik Nevland only sporadically appears under Hodgson, Gera looks pretty much a nailed-on bet over the next few matches.

Fulham’s next five Gameweeks see them play at Craven Cottage four times, which, yet again, has been a fortress under Roy Hodgson. The fixtures, (tot, VILLA &POR, bol, BUR, BIR) with the Villa and Porstmouth games part of the club’s upcoming Double Gameweek 24, look tempting in terms of some Fulham investment. With Gera a mere £4.7m on FPL, his selection (particularly for those who had Dempsey pencilled in/in already) is definitely food for thought.

Gera started Fulham’s FA Cup tie at Accrington on Saturday and returned a goal and an assist in the 3-1 win.
