Window Watch- Alan Hutton to Sunderland (loan)

Steve Bruce has moved to bolster his leaky defence with the on loan signing of Spurs right back Alan Hutton untill the end of the season. Despite a great start to the 2009-10 campaign, Sunderland have fallen dramatically down the Premiership table, and sit just three points off the drop zone.

One of the main issues is in defence, with the club only managing three clean sheets all season. Bruce’s acquisition of Scottish international Hutton will resultantly see Phil Bardsley lose his first team place as the club look to climb the table.

Hutton, coming in at £4.4m in FPL, is an attack-minded full back, and fans at the Stadium of Light can look forward to seeing him foraging up and down the right wing with menace. With Darren Bent a constant when it comes to goals, Hutton could well grab his fair share of assists too, as he looks to recapture the form that saw Spurs splash out £9m for his services from Glasgow Rangers…

After last night’s Stadium of Light stalemate with Stoke, Sunderland have five home games & one DGW in the next seven gameweeks (WIG, por, ars, FUL, avl & BOL, MCY, BIR) to get their season back on track, with Steve Bruce tweaking the side in an attempt to rediscover that early season form once more.

Hutton should be handed his debut in the clash with Wigan this weekend, an early opportunity to show his potential. With just one clean sheet in the last ten, Steve Bruce’s side have a lot to do to convince us that they warrant defensive investment. Hutton’s attacking abilities and the Black Cat’s fixture list may yet attract our interest.

aRE mAN uNited possibles for a dgw26?

  2. metalhead says:

    arsh->fab or anelka->drog?

earlier plan was to bring in drog for this gw by arsh’s price fall tonite might mean bringing in fab tonite rather than for gw27

    thoughts?

    • metalhead says:

on second thought that would mean buying drog at a higher price later so its pretty much the same. gonna stick to the plan then

    Hi all,
Just a quick comment on the Stoke GK situation. I know its been discussed on previous posts but I think it’ll be very interesting to see if Sorenson can retain his position as first choice keeper for the remainer of the season.
Sorenson appears to definatly be gone come the summer.
At the begining of January he said he had rejected an approach from one of Europes leading clubs (Bayern Munich rumours?) but commented ‘If an offer does come it will be hard to refuse’.
The fact Tony Pulis ACTIVELY sought to bring in a keeper now during the January window instead of waiting until the summer (D.James first before Begovic) seems to indicate he’s looking to replace or phase Sorenson out over the second part of the season ahead of his probable summer move. Just something to keep an eye on.
Wish I knew what Pulis’s plan is! I wanted to bring in one of these two as a replacement for Gomes to partner Hart in my squad for the remainder of the season!

If money is no issue, who is the best option for a Bolton Mid?

Is it Taylor even though he is worth alot more? Looking at getting one in next week for about 4 weeks.

    • Jonty says:

Lee probably the best. I have Taylor, but Lee has been outscoring him pretty much most weeks. I’ll probably swap before the double gwk or be greedy and have both…not sure yet.

      • Jonty says:

Also Taylor gets substituted under Coyle at the 60-70 min mark, while Lee stays on. That may tell you something as well.

      • o0Ash says:

I’ve brought in Lee, I watched the game vs Liverpool and he stood out – unlucky not to have a few more points overall.

        • Johnny Unitas says:

I have Taylor, Lee is the better option at the moment, but Taylor has it in him, just needs to snap out of it!

  5. Supersonic says:

another washout dgw for me. Cole not playing tonight and gera/baird not playing tomorrow would cap it off.

  6. SuperDorrans says:

Roy Hodgson just confirmed Okaka & Shorey starting tomorrow night.

Nothing has been about cashley being out! On Ssn it sed he was fit.. He may still be rested though! Or has carlo said anything different that iv missed!

who should i swap gera for? lee maybe

  10. Galverion says:

    No one likes us
    No one likes us
    No one likes us
    We don’t care
    We are MK
    Super MK
    We are MK Dons FC

    :)

    • Isn’t that a Millwall? Could probably be applied to MK Dons aswell though ;) .

      • Galverion says:

        Exactly :)

I think many football folk are “getting over” the whole MK Dons thing now though…time to move on.

Truth is, AFC Wimbledon crew did not put their money where their mouth was to save their club…Mr Winkleman did, and saved the club.

Always 2 sides to every story…too many jumped on the “AFC Wimbledon” band-wagon….failed to see the sincerity of the MK Dons’ side of the debate…..typical “following” the media again

  11. Galverion says:

Best FF Players of the Season Awards :)

Player of the Season = Cesc
    Runners-up = Rooney, Drogba

    Most Improved Player = Milner

Flattered to Deceive = Jiminez, West Ham (everyone praising him pre-season…but what a flop)

    :)

    • Bit premature Gal!

Rooney pips Cesc so far due to performances in the big, crucial games. Cesc went missing against Chelsea and Utd.

      • Galverion says:

I am aware there is a long way to go I admit…call these “Awards so far” :)

It will be between Cesc and Rooney in the end…..

        • Boss Hogg says:

Rooney will win footballer of the year.
Milner will win young player of the year.

          Done.

      • Ty_Durden67 says:

Yes & no… I mean Cesc has a higher ppg so far and it comes down to whether you talk about FF player or if you go beyond FF…
At the end of the day, you can also argue that, although, both are very influential, Wayne hasn’t achieved what Cesc did during 1st Villa game – endless debate I suppose…
Drogba = great returns but Chelsea could quite clearly cope without him during ACoN

  12. rambo123mop says:

who should i swap gera for iv got 2.3 in the bank

  13. PQuilts says:

    Transfer suggestions please!!

Ive got 5 million for a midfielder who will be staying until week 30,im thinking lee? Any other ideas?

    • Galverion says:

      For £ 5m, a player I rate highly is Burnley’s Eagles

      • lawman says:

Bonus point magnet is Eagles. Gets 2 for being on the team sheet. gets the extra one if he stays on the pitch and burlney dont get smashed.

        • PQuilts says:

Ive already got Eagles had him in for a number of weeks! Ive got an overall plan I was working to and was going to cheapen down to a Wiltshire/McCarthy but then realised whoever comes in now will be going again later in week 30 for Milner, so theres no need to skimp!

          Any other suggestions guys?

  14. Galverion says:

DO you like my team for next GW ?

    Hart – Dunne – Evra – A Cole – Hunt – Duff – Fabregas – Milner – Bent – Drogba – Rooney (c)

    Expect points….BIG points

    :)

    • lawman says:

Dont mean to dampen your mood, but i can only see a Brum maybe, and Man u CS. None of your midfielders excite me with the fixtures they have. Drogba should do well, Bent should do well, rooney will do well if he plays.

  15. Boss Hogg says:

Who can I buy to replace Gera?
Current midfield is Arshavin, Taylor, Murphy, GERA and Kuyt
Got 1.5 in the bank so can go up to 6.2 for Gera’s replacement.

    Any advice?

  16. noodles33 says:

Is Zayatte gonna play to night?? I reallly hope it isnt

  17. Galverion says:

Highest points for a GW this season folks ?

I scored 158 in the “Big DGW” a couple of weeks ago

Someone in my league (of 130 managers) pipped me with 166 :)

    Anyone top 166 ?

    • Galverion says:

Should have been :( symbol of course !

      • Boss Hogg says:

        Nope.

My top 3 scores this season are:

        148 (gw22)
        113 (gw13)
        74 (gw 8 & 19)

    • RoysBrotherJohnson says:

what are you bleating on about you braying donkey- go blow yourself, you’ve just dont it verbally- even going completely off topic for some self loving. at least wait until there’s a relevant discusiion to blow yourself

      • Galverion says:

Put it down to jealosy :)

      • alsybach says:

‘you’ve just dont it verbally’ – what the fu*k are you blathering on about?

        • RoysBrotherJohnson says:

done it verbally- your powers of deduction amaze me

        • Galverion says:

Indeed ! Has “RoysBrother Johnson” been drinking ?

He also mis-understood my motive – I was genuinely asking if folk have score more than 166, as I know my 158 was only 86% of the highest score….so I was wondering if anyone was up at the 200 mark ? Which would surely be an all-time record in the history of FF ?

  18. Benjani anyone, now at Sunderland on loan?

    • Boss Hogg says:

      Not a chance.
Behind Bent, Jones and probably Campbell in the pecking order.
      Won’t get many starts.

    • Galverion says:

A fair shout….depends on K Jones status…but I can see Benjani getting nod of Jones, who has been disappointing this season

Do you recall Benjani at Pompey about 3 years ago ? He was very good there…form went totally at Man City….shame, he was a good value FF player once….so maybe recapture that at Sunderland ?

  19. SuperDorrans says:

Suggestions on who to get in? 0.2 in the bank and two freebies.

    Hart – Sorensen
    Evra – R Johnson – A Cole – Baird – Dann
    Duff – Fabs – Modric – Milner – N’Zogbia
    Rodallega – Rooney – Tevez

    ?

    • Galverion says:

To be honest, not sure you have to change anything….

Just a slight tinker maybe with Carr for Dann ? Just think Carr offers a bit more, and only 4.3m

Other than that, only comment is I am not THAT sure on Modric…seems to blow hot and cold….are you prepared to take him out and replace ?

    • jam says:

I’ve had Baird for a few weeks and he’s been rubbish! Maybe swap him for a cheap player with a dbl week coming up?

  20. gizmothelegend says:

That Gera news really, really hurts.

    • Boss Hogg says:

      Tell me about it.
I probably need to replace him now as well.

    • lawman says:

That is great news for me, i got in Duff and a few of my league rivals have Gera :)

      • Galverion says:

Yes, phew ! Great news !

When I made subs for this GW, I sweated on “Gera or Duff ? Duff or Gera ?”

I plumped for Duff :) Just think he has had a consistently good season, and much under-valued by media etc

  21. mucka says:

Hows my team lookin for next week?
    Sorenson
    Dann – Cashley – Warnock – Scharner/Baird
    Fabregas – Lamps – Eagles
    Zamora – Rooney(c) – Tevez
    Subs: Dunn – Ramsey – Scharner/Baird

Also planning man city def >> Warnock

  22. SammyC says:

It’s about time Fulham had an injury crisis, they literally had one (Bullard ..) in the whole of last year

    • lawman says:

I cant wait for Bullard to come back, got him penciled in for a comeback in my team around GW31 Hull’s fixtures look nice after that.

Sorry just realised a little of topic!

    • Applebonkers says:

it’s amazing that duff is their only player who seems to be able to saty fit lately, along with hughes and baird

    • si says:

Agreed. No sympathy at all now with Roy and all his “injury crisis” talk.

  23. RaspingDrive says:

Sorry in advance about not being able to reply to the post directly but this is for RBJ, quality post mate, nearly pissed meself, nice one

  24. marky says:

Wow Rooney is proving a popular Captain choice this week.

If he gets rested where does the arm band go?

    • Ty_Durden67 says:

Not sure what to answer here, what do you mean?
If you refer to general rules of FF it goes to next player depending on form or value (you are supposed to select the autosub rule that would apply), it could well be the same player in any case. However, value is usually safer as it goes to a big gun…

      Rooney won’t be rested though

  25. nickybwild says:

    Valencia > Nani

    worth it?

  26. Soup Or Man says:

Who are the 4 people that are captaining Victor Moses?!

  27. RaspingDrive says:

Nicky, I think you should get rid of Valencia but not for Nani. If SAF comes out and says who he prefers, then ok, until then you are better off shopping elsewhere

    • king999 says:

I recon SAF will play them both against Pompey .. with Valencia on the left. Also have a sneaky feeling that Rooney will be on the bench. Is that Diouf fella fit?

  28. nickybwild says:

    I have Valencia…should I:

    1. keep him for 1 more week and hope he plays against Pompey
    2. Swap him for Nani and hope he plays against Pompey while earning some £££
    3. Swap him for Cahill who is in form, playing for an inform team but has tough fixtures coming up (then again the merseyside Derby could be a goal fest?)
    4. Swap him for Petrov (DGW/rotation)
    5. Swap him for N-Zogbia (DGW/everyone in my mini league has him)
    6. Swap him for Lee (DGW/plays for Bolton!)
    7. Swap him for Matty Taylor (DGW/plays for Bolton!)
    8. something else?

    • mucka says:

      Keep him IMO

    • Andy says:

      5 or 1 (or 8).

    • Ty_Durden67 says:

I don’t have him but would do 1. If he plays, he could do great vs Pompey, if not, autosub, no big harm… more to win than to lose IMO

    • trickyharris says:

In the same boat, but dont like many of those options.
Dont want to touch Petrov, would rather keep valencia.
Dont want Lee, would only want to take him out as soon as i have him.
Dont want Taylor, same reasons as above
      Already have N’Zogbia.
      Dont want Nani
Form is temp in the case of Cahill

So, im left with 2 options, downgrade elsewhere to try and get fab, or get in someone else – diaby? and upgrade elsewhere.
      hart/soren
      richards/ivan/dann/hughes/warnock
      milner/n’zog/duff/hudd/valencia
      anelka/drogba/rooney

      Any suggestions?

  29. mucka says:

Typical of my season!! This week he bought terry because he told me he that he wanted a differental to me having cashley! I thought I had one over him but terry scores in the first match and cashley could miss second match!! Arghhh..

  30. Warky Talky says:

    Zoltan Gera you c*nt.

    Sorry

    • Applebonkers says:

you could argue you got lucky that he came on as a pre-30 min sub last match and got you an extra point. if davies never got injured you would probably have got 2 points anyway from gera from this double.

      • Warky Talky says:

you could argue that. but i wont be.

I’ll be arguing that he would have played in the hole tonight (given that Nevland is toss) vs. a pants Pompey side and scored and got a well deserved bonus point.

    • AmeliesDad says:

lol. We all thought it. Well those of us who bought him. He was out for me within the next 2 weeks anyway but a little annoying he’s done sod all since coming in.
