Let’s face it, it’s the question on most Fantasy Manager’s minds going into the weekend, whether you happen to own Wayne Rooney or not.

Alex Ferguson has previously suggested that Rooney can’t play every match and with Villa on Wednesday and the Champions League trip to Milan less than a week later, the home game with Portsmouth looks an ideal opportunity to hand him a rest. Berbatov and Owen need pitch time and the pair should be more than enough to see off Portsmouth. Then again, Rooney is in the form of his life. He’s on fire and could dispose of Portsmouth in half-an-hour.

It’s a tough call. While every Rooney owner will be starting him; will they be handing him the armband? The Fantasy Premier League captains poll says yes but we need more detail. A new poll has been launched in your middle column to collect your views on just how much time Rooney will be given to get his teeth stuck into Ben Haim and his pals.

“Alex Chamberlain played three games for the first time in his career. He had a stiff neck at half-time, so I did not want to take a gamble with him. Then we had a problem with Koscielny, and I wanted to give some playing time to Benayoun.”
