Wayne Rooney was on the pitch for 65 minutes of United’s 5-0 win over Portsmouth this afternoon, enough time for the striker to fire his 21st goal of the season.

United’s rout saw the fantasy points spread around the team, although with three of the five accredited as own goals, the points haul was not as significant as it could have been. Dimitar Berbatov was the other to claim a goal, with the likes of Evans, Evra, Carrick, Fletcher and Nani earning assists to accompany their clean sheets. Vanden Borre, Hughes and Wilson were the unfortunate members of the Portsmouth side who helped United along their way.

With Fantasy Premier League bonus points expected for Rooney, his haul should tally up to 6-9 points, a satisfactory return for those who handed the United striker the FPL armband, particularly when you consider that big points were hard to come by elsewhere today to this point.

“Alex Chamberlain played three games for the first time in his career. He had a stiff neck at half-time, so I did not want to take a gamble with him. Then we had a problem with Koscielny, and I wanted to give some playing time to Benayoun.”
