Saturday’s Dugout Dicussion

We begin the gameweek early with Anfield hosting the Merseyside derby before the three o’clocks takeover with all eyes on Old Trafford where Wayne Rooney could make or break our fantasy football weekends.

Early team news from Anfield finds Rafa starting with Agger, Lucas and Maxi Rodriguez. Skrtel, Riera and Aquilani make way for those changes. As for Everton, Moyes brings in Distin for Senderos in their only change.

Throughout that game and Rooney’s possible demolition of Portsmouth, you can share your pain or joy in our live chatroom. Today’s Dugout Discussion is now open.

Does stephen hunt not get an assist from a corner???

  2. Aries21 says:

So if Rooney is to get these assists, when would it happen, tonight at update?

    • MFaulkner says:

      Maybe. More likely tomorrow though.

    • ggm1982 says:

Would have happened by now i reckon.

    • Andy says:

Assists are sourced “live” by the press association, who provide the the live text that the BBC get for each game.

FPL then review these within roughly 24 hours. Whatever it is at the end of the games tomorrow should be the definitive word.

      • The last thing we want though is the BP’s being allocated to players before the assists have been corrected, (which unfortunately will happen). For instance, with Rooney scoring one goal and playing 65 minutes, I can see him getting 1 or 0 BP’s. If he has a goal and an assist, the judges may give him 2 or 3 BP’s.

      • Yeah following the double it looks dodgy, but, I just have a sneaking suspicion Bellamy’s spot is under threat after a pretty dreadful display today. Mancini will need to look like he reacts decisively to that awful performance and I need to find a replacement for Pienaar anyway that’s for sure.

  3. Interesting quote from mancini on BBC – “When we brought on Patrick Vieira and Adam Johnson, the game changed. If we play like we did in the second half, we can arrive in the top four”

Johnson is worth a punt for the double imo.

    • Andy says:

Man City have way too many midfielders to make a solid choice that any one of them will be playing both DGW matches, and with a tricky set of fixtures to follow I won’t be going near them myself.

Tevez, Ade maybe Given or no-one.

      • Yes, I think that City’s good run over December and January, (where Tevez ran riot), now means that they don’t have many good fixtures left as they’ve used most of them up.

  4. Shahriyar says:

i’m hearing that the cross for the fifth united goal touched the head of nani

    • mar says:

it did seem to shave his hair

    • Vlad says:

yes, it did, but very slightly. It’s not quite clear who should get this assist. I would say Nani, but I’m not sure the FPL will have the same opinion.

  5. Yankee says:

Morning all! I brought Cahill for 4 point hit then see he didn’t play ..any news why?

  6. SuperDorrans says:

Everyone still going to captain Tevez for the double?

  7. Vlad says:

    About assists…
I think that assist given to Evra should be given to Nani, as he touched the ball and changed its direction a little bit, that may have disoriented the Pompey defender.
Rooney shouldn’t get any assits IMHO. In the case of Carrick’s goal, it seems to be the Pompey who passed the ball to Carrick (however, it’s not clear from the video). In the case of Berba’s goal, the Pompey defender touched the ball two times but failed to kick it far away, so Berba didn’t lose it.

  8. manu4life99 says:

out of the dgwers who would you pick as the best choices?

i have petrov and tuncay but considering transferring one out (petrov) for nzogbia

  9. dogtanion says:

god,my team is an absolute car crash. im getting dangerously pissed tonight. if i find out that lucas once again gets bp over stevie g, i may vomit in a girls handbag and say “keep the change love.”

  10. It looks like the poll was spot on again with Rooney starting and being subbed around the hour mark.

Can we have loads more polls like this as they really help with your decisions as the polls rarely seem to be wrong with all the people on this site ‘pooling’ their knowledge together to come up with an answer.

A Sorensen or Hart poll would be great for this week!

    • threeputt says:

i bet SAF seriously thought about benching him tho and bringing him on if things werent going well, hes done it before

      • Yeah, I’m sure he thought about it but at the end of the day he knows that each game is still worth the same 3 points and they’re behind Chelsea and every game counts big time for them if they’re to make up the gap. With Berbatov and Owen misfiring big time this season, he can’t quite trust those two to start and win the game without having to involve Rooney yet.

      • BonZ says:

Rooney would be fuming….SAF needs to keep him happy.

    • Andy says:

      That’s the answer I gave…

Just another chapter in the long saga that is Andy & Wayne Rooney, I’m sure there will be a few more to come this season.

  11. hooi1983 says:

Fabs, Kuyt and Bent, pick 2

  12. Reed_Rothchild says:

Kicking myself for following the Scout picks and starting Olsson instead of Hughes, my initial inclination. Who is a good player to replace Pienaar? I already have Duff and NZogbia. Am thinking Etherington with the double coming up.

  13. I have to choose one out of Evra, A Cole and Steinsson (Double game), for next week. Who do I play as I haven’t a clue!

  14. Reed_Rothchild says:

Dunne is already the front runner for the 3 bps.

  15. bantamdave says:

i am looking at Zamora -> Ade and Valencia to Ethrington/lee/mcCarthy. Problem is I will have an midfield of Modric ( at Wolves) Duff (burnley home) Ethrington or whom ever, Fab (home to Liverpool) Lamps (at Everton) and a forward line of Tevez, Ade and Rooney(at Villa).

Who the flipping eck shall i bench from those 8????

  16. manu4life99 says:

    nzogbia IN petrov OUT
    OR
    rodallega IN zamora OUT

    • rambo123mop says:

      petrov out

      • Farva says:

Zamora obviously. Why get rid of a DGW player, even if he doesn’t play the full 180. Besides Bobby has that dislocated shoulder thingy for which he didn’t have an operation.

  17. Reed_Rothchild says:

People should have known Ade would steal some of Tevez’s thunder when he came back.

  18. rambo123mop says:

any1 no y zamora didnt play?

    • manu4life99 says:

      illness

    • BonZ says:

realisation that he is Shat…….c’mon av seen him play???? Talk of England call up cos he’d scored 6 goals in two seasons?!

      • MFaulkner says:

Zamora is one of those players, like Lucas & Bendtner, who people diss in a blinkered manner.

They don’t score, or miss a good chance, and someone goes “oooh they’re crap” and it snowballs until they’re renowned as donkeys.

None are bad players, it’s just ‘cool’ to put them down, so people who haven’t seen them play subsequently believe the hype.

        • Good post MF – but Lucas is a tiny bit shit

        • (ab) says:

lucas won player of the year in brazil when he was like 18 or 19. i don’t care how poor the brazilian league is but you don’t do this if you’re not a talented player. funny that he also plays for brazil. hmmm but maybe dunga knows nothing about football compared to us. it’s a joke. lucas suffered from having long girly hair and havig a pretty unfashionable name, i mean come on ‘lucas’ it’s not the most beneficial name to have in england. maybe if his name was ‘trojan’ and he had a shaved head he could put in exactly the same performances and people would praise him instead of blindly saying oh he’s a bit poo bla bla bla.

  19. Reed_Rothchild says:

WTF did Mark put Olsson as one of his Scout picks?

  20. BonZ says:

rumours are that Rooney had at least one assist?? Will FPL adjust their records if this is the case…not seen myself but i’m very eager 2c MOD.

    • The only one that is questionable is the Berbatov goal. It’s currently been given to Evans but no one is sure it wasn’t rooney who played the long ball to Berba.

  21. rambo123mop says:

those scout picks were fairly terrible

    • Reed_Rothchild says:

Mark has a hard-on for players like Pienaar, Scharner, Tuncay, and Olsson.

    • BonZ says:

yes they may av been bit iffy but no-one has a crystal ball to accurately predict the outcomes – if they did they’d be very rich!!! Kuyt & Evra did OK…..

  22. Aries21 says:

It’s true that we have to starting thinking about next GW right away. Hmm, maybe Ethrington and Toure IN? Don’t know whether to trust City defence…

  23. (ab) says:

david elm seems an unusual 3bps. anyone catch a stream of that game that can elaborate?

    • AB! How gooooood it is to see you again…. remember our little wayne bet? :D :D

      • (ab) says:

alright alright i was meant to sportmans bet on adebayor not bridge. either way i would have lost. just seen the carrick og and if that shot was on target rooney would have got another assist so 14 points would have been unbearable.

        • Ah well, you probably just got caught up in all the waynegate rest rumours. However, due to doubting the greatest scouser ever to play football, you must now change your forum name to Coleen and sport a matching gravatar to show your renewed faith in wayne.

          • (ab) says:

i never didn’t get rooney because i thought he would be benched. the rested talk was nonsense imo. could happen in any game today was no different to any other game. i must stress i chose adebayor over rooney as i thought adebayor would score at least the same as rooney today, and if he didn’t then i would save a transfer for next gw and i’m confident adebayor will spank rooney in that one.

    • Silence only compounds your guilt bonkers…

      • (ab) says:

p.s paul merson was full of praise for james mccarthy today. you may have got yourself a gem there. or maybe the white stripes on wigan’s shirts just reminded paul ‘snorty’ merson of something else he enjoyed…

  24. mintman10 says:

Once again mascherano gets 3 BP…. this guy has been great… too bad he’s no kind of scoring threat

  25. Slasher says:

A goal each from lamps, fab,Anelka and A.cole is the only way I could possibly catch a green Arrow.

    Looks Unlikely Though :(
