After the success of the inaugural Fantasy Football Scout Cup, sponsored by Paddy Power (won by donnellyc), the powers that be have commissioned a second competition. It’s due to start on gameweek 30 and will run until the end of the season (so that’s 9 rounds with 512 participants, as before). The significant details, including prize money, rules, etc. can be saved until closer to GW30. The purpose of this article is to address some of the feedback we received regarding the selection process of the 512 cup participants.

As you may remember, entry into the cup last time round was on a first come first served basis, with the first 512 managers to email me their details getting a spot in the first round. [At this point point I should just say that cup entry is not yet open, and any emails I get before it is will be discarded.]

However, in the interest of fairness, we are giving you the opportunity to have your say in how the cup slots should be filled, in the form of a vote. So, here are your options;

  • First come first served – Quite simply the first 512 managers to email me when entry opens.
  • Top-ranked managers as of GW29  – This gives everyone who wants to participate the chance to put their name in the hat, and then the top-ranked managers progress to the first round.
  • Qualifying week, point hits included – Everyone who submits an entry has their GW29 scores ranked, and the top 512 progress (tied positions will be decided on overall ranking).
  • Qualifying week, point hits not included – As above with point hits taken in GW29 not considered.
  • Lucky Dip – Cup participants are randomly selected from the list of entries.

A question you may ask is why not just have a 10th round with some managers recieving a first round bye. Unfortunately this is not a feasible option with the system that is currently in place (it is already stretched).

The poll is now live on the site and the results, along with full cup details (and how to enter), with be announced in due course.

“Robert hasn't touched him. The player tries to get him sent off. It's a disease that's creeping into the game.”
