Rooney And Valencia Deliver

Filed under: Scout Reports - Posted by: Mark

Wayne Rooney justified his Fantasy Premier League armband with another brace in last night’s 3-0 win over West Ham.

After drawing two blanks at Villa and Everton, Rooney returned to scoring form to notch two headers, both from Valencia assists, to take his tally to 23 league goals this term. Rooney and Valencia also claimed FPL bonus points, while the many Evra owners got themselves a predictable clean sheet from the second United fixture of the gameweek. A very good night for investors in United players, although they will now be forced to bench or sell their contingent with a missing fixture with the Carling Cup Final coming next for Ferguson’s side…

Valencia’s assists took him on to nine for the season, having also provided the cross for United’s goal at Goodison at the weekend. The winger has proved a popular target for United’s double fixture gameweek but, despite his performances, there will be some slight doubts on the risk of rotation once Nani returns from his suspension. Nani’s form over a short period of matches from gameweeks 22-24 found Valencia benched, although following this spell, Ferguson named both wingers on his teamsheet with Nani deployed on the left-flank. Nani returns from his ban and is eligible for the trip to Wolves in gameweek 29.

For United last night’s win came at some cost with Brazilian midfielder Anderson suffering a nasty looking knee injury, while it was also revealed that Rio Ferdinand missed the match as his return from suspension due to further back problems suffered in training. Ferdinand is out of the Carling Cup Final and will be a doubt for United’s visit to Wolves. Anderson meanwhile could face a lengthy spell on the sidelines. As reported in the Scout Tweets, a scan today will reveal the full extent of the injury.

  • Cheers for the replies lads. I wasn't really considering getting in Ba for the next GW but at his price he does look… »
  • Aggy to Roon in gw28 for me, bar mishaps. »
  • Possibly a good week to do that both to score coupon that Helen Chamberlain advertises :) »
  • I'd consider either Rooney or Aguero... not RVP... if you have all 3 of them and it's this week you're talking about… »
  • I'm tempted to swear at you ;) McC was rubbish tonight, like he was a reserve player in the 1st team for the 1st time… »
  • McClean at the moment for me, although if Sess is out and he is knackered from 120 mins today I may switch. »
  • not right now...wait for a dip in form for at least 2 weeks (my guess would be roonpig.com) »
  • Yep 11/10 is the shortest price for a shutout but that still means its 4/6 or so for Newcastle to score so still more… »
  • Ba for sure, I think they'll score and he is nearly always involved if they do. »
