Introducing The ICT Scout Index

Yesterday we launched the ICT Scout Index for our Members. This is immediately viewable via the dashboard on login, with top 10’s displayable for both the current Gameweek and the season as a whole. Obviously, right now, this is based on last season’s data.

Read on for more details on what the ICT Index brings to our Members’ offering…

What is the ICT Scout Index?

Basically this is a football index created specifically to assess a player in Fantasy terms. It uses the statistical data already available to Members to create a single score for three key areas – Influence, Creativity and Threat. These scores then combine to create a single ICT Scout Index score.

In basic terms the ICT index will help to make our statistics easier to digest. The individual index scores help to measure a player’s importance to their team and to a match (Influence), a player’s likelihood to earn assists (Creativity) and to score goals, or at least get in goalscoring situations (Threat).

Index scores will be generated on a gameweek basis and cumulatively over the season for all players. All the usual statistics are available, but Members now have an easy route to identify how players are performing across the key statistics – they can go straight in now and start analysing players based on last season’s data.

The index, like any football index, will require tweaking as we go. Even so, we feel that it’s a valuable addition for our Members and offers us plenty of material to discuss in a series of new weekly Members articles.

How Can I View the ICT Scout Index?

In addition to the Top 10 standings on the Members dashboard, the full index is available within the Fantasy Index tab for Player Stats. You can view the index by position or for all players.

By default this offers a cumulative view of the Index totals – however, Members can also slice the data by a given gameweek or a range of gameweeks and view average Index scores per appearance using the Advance Filter Options.

The Player Profiles (available by clicking on any player), also offer a complete Gameweek by Gameweek breakdown of a players’ Index score. Using this, you can analyse trends and assess how a player is developing in terms of Fantasy potential as the season progresses.

We will of course, use such breakdowns in our regular articles to help you identify those players in form according to their ICT Scout Index scores.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Tottenham just bid for Carlos Tevez. Apparently they've offered 200 plasma TVs, 6 rolls of carpet and 72 pairs of Reebok Classics.

Sorry if this has been asked a million times before, but is Kompany a better pick then Lescott?

The way I understand it is that Lescott is more of a goal threat, but Kompany is more likely to start. So who would you recommend?

Your choice, Lescott might be challenged when Kolo Toure returns from rehab or injury, but Lescott scores as he is in the mix on the kicks into the box. Kompany is locked to start every game and thus undervalued at 6.0. If you want less pain, go with Kompany, if you want an occasional goal and some misery go with Lescott. That's my take, I had Lescott when he was a lock to start last year and he was great- no rotation risk back in the last month or so of the season.

Guys, with Everton not playing GW1, Baines will be taken out of a lot of teams. Is it a Smart idea to keep him for GW1, and then when heaps of people put him in for GW2, his value will rise??

This thought occurred to me too 7ator. I don't know that his value will necessarily jump up before the start of GW2 though- the masses tend to transfer in based on the previous week's scores, as opposed to the upcoming fixtures.

Also faced with the idea of keeping Baines in with prospects of his value increasing in gw2 as ppl who originally had him in their team load him back on...

but that means I start Simpson against Arsenal this weekend... this is poo.

    Schwarzer (Al Habsi)
    Kompany Richards Alcarez (gabbidon) (williams)
    Hoolahan NZog Lampard Moses (sinclair)
    Rooney RVP (c) DJ Campbell

it was originally kuyt/odemwengie instead of FF/DJ but I rate DJ at 5.5m very highly and i like his opening fixtures. Also gives more long term rotation flexibility (3 cheap MFs + 1 cheap CF). Plan is to WC at wk 7/8 international break unless things go very well/badly.

I'd only recommended ferguson because you were looking for a 4.5m MF ie one you didnt expect to have to play very often if at all. I don't have anyone less than 5m in my MF because I expect to use them.

I like nani for GW1, I'm just worried about the valencia/young situation. Though tbf I dont rate young much at all.

Caroll I think is awesome, but I dont take swings on players who have stopped scoring (ie rooney at the start of last year) until they start scoring again.

thanks for the comments. Lampard I'm really thinking on.

Brown a starting risk (as I understand from comments on this blog). This will cause a jam up in your trying to replace him. Not good. It's misery because you will have another player or even two get hurt, have to go to see his wife in Slovenia or Argentina, or be red-carded for two games-- that is not fun.

I like the rest of your team, not sure about Figeroa, but I think he is a consistent starter. Hope he's only 4.0 in price, otherwise save the .5 in cash by getting one..... He's 4.5!!!!!, and got no bonus points last year. Unless he's a relative or gets you tickets, you can do better.

Wow you have Lescott too, that's a jam-up car wreck when Brown and him don't play. When is Kolo Toure back? That will suck. Stick with Kompany and wait for Kolo to break a bone, then get Lescott---

Ok, with all things considered and the information that RVP is fit here is my team for GW1:

    Given (Ruddy)

    Terry, Kompany, Alcaraz, (Gabbidon, Simpson)

    Malouda, Nani, Ramsey, Sessegnon, Fox

    RVP(C), Carroll(VC), (Graham)

The only worry I have is my 4.5m midfield spot. Who are the best options for 4.5m in the midfield? Any suggestions besides Fox?

Thank you to all who have commented on any of my various posts this pre season, your input has been valuable. I hope some of my input over the past few weeks has helped you guys out as well.

No downgrade of Sess, he is a season keeper imo

Moses would be nice but only have 4.5. I was considering QPR player Ephraim or Bursaky? Anyone know anything about the starting potential of these two?

        Thanks for the reply!

Just my opinion on Sessegnon I think he's overrated.
For 4.5 starters ther's really no one decent. Surman,Eprahim and Dyer probably the best bets.

Its not a tactic I use, but if you dont want to rotate much and instead load up on big stars in MF the extra 0.5m saved by using the cheapest player in the game is worth a swing. also if you plan to play 2 in MF you shouldnt need the cover. especially in the first 8 GWs.

    Hi guys, apprecaite any feedback...

    Schwarzer / (Ruddy)
A Cole / Kompany / Orr (De Laet / Simpson)
    Nani / Silva / Taarabt / Moses / (Sinclair)
    Drogba / Rooney / Holt

I realise it is pretty standard...not sure about Nani - should I swap for Malouda? Also, will Orr start or should I play Da Laet? I have 0.5 in the bank...

    Cheers,

With only a day left, My RMT.

I havent asking for RMTs with every change I've made,One with my first draft and one now for the pre season jitters.

All suggestions would go a long way in helping me win that VIP trip for two to a Barclays Premier League match.

    Given Ruddy

    Cole Kompany Bramble Gabbidon Simpson

    Malouda Silva Ramsey Sinclair Moses

    Rooney Caroll DJ

I do realise its a bit generic,Most of us have similar teams 😀
Also Hughes? Enrique at 5.0m would be a better buy, No?

        Re:O'hara and Ramsey.

The new BPs are swaying it for me.
O'hara scored really well for Pompey, but got a fair share of his points from BPs.With the new scoring method[taking winning into account and everything] he might not be a BP magnet.

Ramsey on the other hand could profit from the Nasri & Cesc saga.

      MF looks a bit light.
Drogba is good for GW1,but after that?

If Drogba isnt a starter you have only 2 captaincy choices.

      Rafael isnt a certainity.

Reasons for spending 0.5 more for Lescott over Kompany?

Bison, not clear if Williams at Swansea is worth 4.5 versus a regular 4.0 player and you can use the .5 for flexibility when one or more of your players gets hurt/red carded, etc. Maybe you have special knowledge of Williams.

Holt versus DJ is almost a tossup. Holt will start all games and has pens. DJ has experience, did very well at Blackpool, but there is some question about how soon he will be consistently starting. He is supposed to start this weekend. Very close question. The rest are OK, I don't know Hoolaran. Lampard expensive of course and might disappear on you, but he is so solid.

        cheers Jack.

The reason for the Williams pick is due to lack of knowledge of the Swans backline. From what Ive been told he's the most nailed on long term. I'd love to save the 0.5m especially since I only need him for 8 weeks. Who's the man I need? (needs to be a swan for rotation purposes)

I'm a blackpool fan so its got to be DJ for me. Hoolahan is another ex-BFC player who gets in great positions going forward. shame neither are on pens though. (both prob 2nd choice if main man gets injured?)

Fat Frank has been nowhere near my team all pre-season until DJ came in at 5.5m that is and made 2m burn a hole in my pocket. I'm ready to dump him at the first sign of last years start. I dont mind him being "deeper" - he only stopped scoring once he was pushed further forward in the diamond.

        thanks for the tips!

He'll definitely be a starter once settled. My initial knee jerk reaction was must have. Then it dawned on me if like I have you've accepted a fairly early wildcard will happen he starts looking a poor choice. Assuming he doesn't play gw 1 I'd only really want to play him once in the 1st 5 gw's. By then it will be nearing wildcard time.

Is anyone else not comfortable at all with Given in the net?? I think Hart is the one to own right now again. At least in the beginning. Ya, he's pricey. But with the number of great value mids, I'm sure people can find the cash. Hart will clean sheet Swansea and jump in value while people start dumping Given after he lets in couple away to Fulham. City also has very decent fixtures after Swansea and a much better defensive team to Villa as well.

for me, if you want an expensive gk, cech is the man

you can cover man city defence with kompany at 6.0 or lescott at 6.5 (1.0 or 0.5 less than hart)

whereas with chelsea, you need terry or cashley for guaranteed starts, and they are both 0.5 more than cech
