Dugout Discussion

Tuesday Dugout Discussion

With the rest of the footballing world tuning in to the occasion at the Nou Camp tonight, the Dugout Discussion opens with it’s eyes firmly fixed on the remaining fixture from double Gameweek 35. It’s not glamorous, it’s Aston Villa versus Bolton Wanderers in a relegation scrap. The team news is in…

Villa XI: Given, Hutton, Cuellar, Baker, Lichaj, Albrighton, Herd, Warnock, N’Zogbia, Heskey, Weimann.

Bolton XI: Bogdan, Steinsson, Wheater, Ream, Ricketts, Ryo, Reo-Coker, M Davies, Petrov, Eagles, Ngog.

Gabriel Agbonlahor misses out due to injury for Alex McCleish’s side, whilst David Ngog is recalled in place of Kevin Davies for the struggling visitors.

The Dugout Discussion is open and can be accessed right here, with Champions League chat still permitted.

You may aswell get a DGWer. It's a very low risk gamble.

Worse case scenario is that you waste 2 points (Man city clean sheet, 4 appearance points for your DGWer).

So, I'm about to press 'confirm' to do:
Baines, Valencia, Graham => Terry, Bale, Jelavic (8 point hit)
which will make my team look irresistable:

    Vorm
    TERRY - WALKER - Vermaelen
    BALE(C) - PETROV - Nani - Sigurdsson
    JELAVIC - RvP - Aguero
    Bench: Moses, McAuley, Jevans

    Any suggestions? Press?

this sounds very strange to say but surely barca are always going to be the best team in the world if other teams have to park the bus and beat them on the counter to have a chance

i mean surely by using the tactics chelsea and madrid used they were basically admitting barca are the better team

nothing against them well deserved to go through but just a thought

I do as well and I hate Chelsea, only thing that barca did well was pass alround the chelsea plaeyers, dive for one penalty and get a player sent off(Terry of ofcourse made a dumb move, but there was no way that hit took down a man older than 5 years). Finally the luck run out for the princesses.

Aye, Barca must have known Chelsea would park the bus. It did not look like they had trained and prepared for that scenario at all.

(Terry was a straight red no matter how hard he touched him, in the prem the striker wouldnt have reacted and nobody would have seen it)

Yeah they were. They countered Barca's tactics superbly. I'm far from a Chelsea fan but they were the better side over both legs. Football isn't all about flashy passes and runs it's about holding your position and working your arse off which Chelsea did brilliantly.

A team that defending like champions against a team that didnt manage to stop the very few Chelsea attacks? I think I know who was the better team.

Barca had four strikers on chelseas defencive line who werent moving around or trying to create space for the others. If they had moved about the 4 CB's would have had no chance of tracking them.

The problem with Barca is that they don't know how to switch things up when the current tactic isn;t working. And when teams figure them out, it goes tits up for Barca.

          True true.

I think they need a few more 6 footers on the bench they can bring on, then they could have turned into Stoke and just constantly lumped the ball intop the box.

A tall man in the box would have won it for them. I am willing to bet that in half an hour Xavi, Iniesta etc can manage to gift a wonderful header to such a player.

They bought Sanchez for an astronomic price as a replacement for David Villa. Before Villa broke his leg, they had been sharing game time, even with more game time for Sanchez.

Really? Surely with the injury to Cahill and the ban from the CL final, Terry is pretty much a lock to play both premiership games. And he offers a much bigger goal threat that the Everton duo.

The goal threat is a good point, but I think they are playing 2 tough games, both teams fighting for something, Also with 2 finals coming up I think the players around him will be rotated, taking into account the much higher price for Terry I think everton defenders may just do better and they also got nice fixtures coming up.

As I said, just my opinion. If you really dont see no use for your cash in the next 3 gameweeks you should go for Terry, but for me the cash difference maes Hibbert the best pick without a question.
