Papiss Cisse steals the show with a pair of outrageous finishes at the Bridge. Alan Pardew opts for a 4-4-2 as Newcastle pick up yet another clean sheet, while Chelsea taste defeat at home for the first time under Roberto Di Matteo. Emmanuel Adebayor bags a brace at Bolton, with Rafael Van der Vaart and Gareth Bale both getting amongst the points, as Spurs deliver a huge blow to the Trotters’ survival hopes:

Papiss Cisse
Having twice hit the woodwork at Wigan last weekend, the Newcastle forward returned to goalscoring ways in sensational style at the Bridge last night. Partnered by Demba Ba up top in a switch to 4-4-2, Cisse grabbed two goals of the highest quality as Alan Pardew’s side picked up their seventh win in the last eight to boost their chances of a fourth place finish. Cisse has now scored 13 times in just 12 appearances since moving to Tyneside in January and, with a pair of assists and 20 bonus points also thrown in for good measure, has averaged a sensational 8.4 points per game thus far, way ahead of second placed Robin Van Persie’s 7.0. The transfers in will continue to roll, although Cisse’s final two games are far from straightforward – City arrive on Sunday having returned three clean sheets in four, while a Gameweek 38 trip to Goodison could prove tricky; Everton have picked up seven clean sheets in their last eight at home.

Newcastle Defence
With Danny Simpson missing out for the first time this season, James Perch slotted into the right-back role last night. Bearing in mind that Chelsea had hit six past QPR on Sunday and Newcastle had been thrashed 4-0 at Wigan, an away clean sheet was perhaps unexpected, but the Magpies once again excelled at the back, returning their sixth clean sheet in the last eight Gameweeks. Pardew’s side now welcome Man City to the Sports Direct Arena on Sunday and, given the Magpies’ form at both ends of the pitch, Roberto Mancini’s men will need to deliver a big performance if they are to remain on course for the title.

Rafael Van der Vaart
The Dutchman picked up where he left off against Blackburn on Sunday as Spurs swept aside Bolton at the Reebok. Van der Vaart had grabbed a goal and a couple of bonus points at the Lane in the first match of his double Gameweek and followed that up with a goal, an assist and X bonus points last night. After a barren winter period, he’s been a crucial part on Spurs’ push for fourth with three goals in his last seven starts– with a trip to Villa up next before a home game against Fulham to see out the season, Van der Vaart looks in the mood to rack up more points before the campaign comes to a close.

Gareth Bale
While his goalless streak may have extended to 12 games last night, Bale picked up a couple of assists against the Trotters. With an assist also provided against Blackburn, the Welshman returned a respectable 14 point score for his Fantasy owners over the double Gameweek. Bale has now closed the gap on Clint Dempsey at the top of the midfield rankings; he’s now just 11 points behind the Fulham man and, with those above-mentioned fixtures to follow, is afforded a chance to perhaps overtake Dempsey as the pair go head to head at the Lane in Gameweek 38.

Emmanuel Adebayor
There’s no doubt the on-loan forward can be a frustrating Fantasy option. Adebayor arrived at the Reebok having scored in just one of the previous nine Gameweeks but found his scoring touch to grab a couple of goals against Owen Coyle’s strugglers. The fourth top scoring forward to date this term, he’s still owned by less than 10% of Fantasy managers despite the fact that Adebayor, with 15 goals and 12 assists, has had a hand in more goals for Harry Redknapp’s side than any other player.

Could really use some feedback on my team for this week. Happy with my forwards/mids but looking weak at the back:

    Mig (Krul)
    Verm Kelly Baines (Caulker JEvans)
    Pienaar Dempsey VDV Valencia
    RVP Roo (c) Jelly

Pending confirmation of Baines being out I am thinking 4pt hit, but unsure for whom? Any help/suggestions welcomed

Some folk on here raising doubts about Walker. Not sure why, but do your research before committing to that one.

I'm considering taking a hit to do Baines>Hibbert as this would free up enough funds to do Jelly>Aguero for gw38

REPOST as no reply. I’m neck and neck with a guy in my ML and need to close this bad boy down – any suggestions for this week? We have completely different teams so all players are differentials!

    Begovic
    Walker, Turner, Kelly
    Bale, VDV, Valencia, Dempsey
    Tevez, Cisse, Jelly
    (Vorm) (Siggy, Evans, Caulker)

1FT, 4.7m. I’m thinking maybe Tevez > Rooney, Tevez > RVP, Turner > Vermaelen or save the FT.

I'd be worried about having both Bale and VDV. I'm also going to take a punt on Nasri, mainly with GW38 in mind but also to try to offset the aforementioned loss of City attack.

I'm not too worried about Bale/VDV - I don't really see much competition for either of them at the moment - not to justify use of a FT anyway. I did have Dempsey > Mata or Cisse > Aguero in mind for next week.

I have Jelly, but I have no United coverage in attack. Could quite happily wait until next week and bring Moses in for Clint, freeing up cash to get Aguero in for QPR at home

Or do I forget United coverage this week and just get Moses in and do Cisse to Aguero for no hit next week?

            In that case 😛

As Roscola said, yes, I may ask for advice, but it's not like I don't give.

I actually don't always ask for advice on transfers, only when I genuinely can't make a decision so like to get other thoughts to help me out.

I will go Holy this week. I can see United winning, but not by a lot, Rooney's returns will be blunted by Hernandez, Nani may not start. Plus it avoids a hit next week.

I hate how fickle football is.

6 months ago Ba was labelled one of the best strikers in the league, people were saying he was like Andy Cole MkII with better build-up player. Now Ba is a wasteman and Cisse is being compared to RvP.

    Oh football.

6 months of great football does not make a great footballer - see Andy Carroll.

Torres is suddenly brilliant again after one hat-trick?

As of right now, he never Cisses (genius) to amaze me, but come next season he'll have every chance of being just another striker.

I was referring to Cisse in that comment hence the "Cisse to amazes" phrase.

With Torres it's more of a case of, oh he's been off-form for ages, he scores a hat-trick and suddenly he's one of the greatest prospects again. End of the day he's still in a system that doesn't work for him and he's never gonna get consistency in the formation/setup that Chelsea play.

If Andy Carroll had heads for feet he'd score a lot more.

Everyone watched in amazement as Torres goal drought went on week after week... until people evenually bought into all the media-driven drivel about him being nothing more than a figure of fun...

the insane price tag made it easy to be duped by the idea that he was a complete waste of money...

The reality as anyone who watched him regularly for Liverpool know is that he was at his best one of the absolute best strikers in the world...

The goal against Barca, and the neat little Hat-trick were a reminder of just who we've been taking the piss out of for all these months...

oh and yeah Torres is suddenly brilliant again after one hat-trick... 😛

    My defence is currently:
    Baines(X) Evans(X) Walker(avl) | Turner(ful) Caulker(mun)

Baines and Walker are out, and Turner and Caulker have terrible fixtures. I also want Nani/Valencia/Rooney.

So which of these transfers are worth a hit? Both?

    1) Evans->Huth/Verm
    2) Caulker->Huth/Verm

*Baines and Evans are out sorry. I might as well keep Baines for the last week as money isn't an issue for me atm.

I'm not sure, he might make it. That's partly why i'm keeping. Should i do just one then, and hope he plays. Who would you prefer, Verm or huth?

    Conspiracy Theory Time:

The bps aren't out because FPL hasn't quite hit its revenue targets for this season and needs people to keep visiting the site to drive up impressions of the ads.

They've probably made a killing off me alone...

It's strange. I remember Baps were released a couple of hours after a match the other week. So it is possible. There must be another reason and like you said it could be advertising.

      Solution: Paid mini-leagues.

Allow people to the option to have a paid mini-league, negates the need for people to collect money at the end of the season, keeps peoples interest even if they are doing poorly because they've already put money into it - and now for the smart bit - FPL takes 2% of the total prize money as commission. 2% might sound low but with all the money mini-leagues floating about they'd make an absolute killing off of it.

I thought that ads only pay if you click on them, including interstitials. Page impressions don't earn money...

Ok, i need some help here.

my mid is Sess, Siggy, Bale, Dempsey
my forwards are Cisse, Jelavic, Ade

I want to make two changes this week to this set of players, and I have 11m in the bank. Basically i can almost put any two players in, so cost isnt an issue.

I am thinking Cisse to RVP and Sess to Nani? good idea, or are there better options?

obviously cisse has outrageous form right now, but i need to make up about 30 or so points to the top of my league, and they have Cisse, Jelavic, Rooney. Cant get rid of jelavic against wolves, so dropping cisse is the gamble i want to make.
