As mentioned previously, our Fantasy football coverage will also include a weekly article on the Sky Sports game as we look to broaden our analysis of the various games available to Fantasy managers this season. Having already assessed the Rules, the Player List and broken down last season’s Man of the Match awards, the next article analyses the introduction of the new bonus points system, which awards players who make 60+ completed passes and/or 4+ successful tackles in any given Gameweek.

Unlike the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, Sky Sports use Opta data for analysing player performance – making it a perfect accompaniment for our Members section data. For that purpose, we’ve created custom tables in the Members Area which highlights the main protagonists from 2011/12, indicating the respective haul each player would have accrued in bonus points alone were the rule in place last season. These statistics are not available in the Sky Sports game, or anywhere else, giving our members a real edge when it comes to selecting their initial squads.

With two points for 60+ passes and another two points for 4+ tackles, it’s clear that the new bonus system will have a definite impact in how we approach the task of setting up our teams for the season ahead. Bearing in mind that the Points Scoring system allocates five points for a goal or a Man of the Match award and three points for an assist, identifying those players who are capable of producing the bonus points looks almost as vital.

Unsurprisingly, given the bonus criteria, nine of the top ten are midfielders, while Swansea’s passing game under Brendan Rodgers sees as many as three of their players also feature in the upper echelons, with one hovering just outside…

  1. graham or pog ?

    1. graham, easiest answer today

    2. GRAHAM 100000%

    3. what do people think......

      given (ruddy)

Hangelan, R Taylor, Vermaelin (Mccarthy, Fonte)

Mata, Kagawa, Y Toure, Taarabt (Guthrie)

      Aguero, Torres, Pogs

      2 mill in the bank

    4. graham +1

    1. cheers

    2. haala :D

  2. So has kagawa gone out of favour with people now rip has signed??? if so who is best replacement ??

    1. he won't play in the hole thats for sure, valencia was and is still the better option imo

      1. i agree with you, nowadays Valencia is the best option in the mildfield

        1. He has been starting right back due to injuries, looks to be that way on monday too

    2. yeah kagawa's playing options wud b liited in wich he has 2 perform, as Utd has vast midfield plyrs nw,

      1. *limited

  3. Does DGW mean doublegameweek ?

    1. Yes, Ya, Wie

  4. A??? Podolski and Noble

    or

    B??? Kagawa and Graham

I think Pod will have a slow start...

    1. i agree, but more to the point i think graham will have a speedy start... no?

    2. Pod with Michu....

  5. A. DDG & 6.5 mid (Michu or Taarabt)

    OR

    B. Jaask & Yaya

    1. A, michu

    2. A

  6. THIS IS MY 3rd repost and not 1 reply what the hell guys :P
Choose a or b and WHY
    A)
    friedel-federici
    cuellar-hangeland-colocini-fabio-fonte
    hazard-noble-bale-PIENAAR-MICHU
    BENT-TORRES-aguero
    B)
    friedel-federici
    cuellar-hangeland-colocini-fabio-fonte
    hazard-noble-bale-MALONEY-KAGAWA
    PETRIC-ROONEY-aguero

    1. probably A, think rooney will drop off more now, as will kagawa therefore it has to be A, also swansea coverage in michu is sehr gut

    2. I would go with B. Fabio could be a surprise and with Rooney and Kun you should get at least 1 goal. RVP is in now but I think Kagawa still will contribute. I like Mata more than Hazard, but Petric could be a huge coup if he performs.

    3. B

  7. My mid is Bale, Lampard, Santi, Pienaar, Noble
Want to get Gerrard in over Santi. Should I get in Guthrie over Noble or is it not worth it??

    1. pools fixtures are bad so not worth it

  8. Will Cazorla start vs sunderland?

Considering him or Podo to my team...

    1. yes both should

    2. Santi will have an even bigger role now. I think to begin the season he should be considered a top 10 midfielder candidate and should be featured in most contests over the first 2 months.

  9. This site is just crazy right now. Replied to a RMT to find I was now 3 pages behind, so what's the point...

Time to focus on my own team and strategy, get my first 11 set, and sit back and watch the fireworks!!

    1. can it be like a forum or something like that?

  10. Who is the most attacking defender at 4.5 or a defender at 4.5 that will score some goals and get assists?????

    1. Clyne at 4.0

    2. harte

    3. Fabio, G. Caldwell, Liam Ridgewell, Clyne, Ryan Bennett

    4. for defence u can take jenkinson from arsenal, as sagna is injured so he is mor likely 2 start upfront

    5. Robson -kanu from Reading he had a gud pre-season , mor likely 2 start coz kebe is injured and , reading has 2 matches in GW1 so likely 2 score mor points

  11. Followed the guide on premierleaguetransfers and this is what I ended up with:

    Jaasky Federici
    Gibbs Zabaleta Walker Demel Clyne
    Toure Ramires Pienaar Bale Noble
    Torres Rooney Graham
    1m left.

    Score /10 gents?

    1. 7

GK - poor rotation should be jaask and bego

Gibbs is a poor shout Arsenal will srtuggle for cleansheets after the sunderland game IMO

      Midfields good

But no aguero/tevez for GW1 is big miss!

      1. Keeper rotation is fine.

  12. i have made a good attempt at this page... lol

  13. Bale or Cazorla for first 2GW?

Currently have Bale. Really think Arsenal will score well first 2 matches but everthing is telling me to stick with Bale

    Thoughts?

    1. Cazorla. Especially if you are able to sell him later and keep the profit. Not sure what game you are in. Bale has been in form for the Pre-Season though and could snare a goal.

  14. PLEASE

    Kagawa or carloza GW1?

    1. Cazorla

  15. Reassure me:

    de gea begovic
tierney clyne kompany evra r. taylor
    allen bale kacaniklic mata miyaichi
    torres tevez holt (+2MIL)

    thoughts?

    1. Looks good not sure about miyaichi though...

    2. no allen and holt!?!?

  16. Is mike Williamson nailed on? If not who is a defender at 4.5 that will get clean sheets and is nailed on???

    1. Cuellar, Hughes?

Arrrrrggghhh! My head might explode from tinkering. What do you all think of this? Any suggestions?

    Federici, Green,
Vermaelen, A Cole, Hangeland, S Taylor, Cuellar
    Bale, Mata, Young, Noble, Britton,
    Tevez, Torres, Pogrebnyak

    2 million in the bank

    1. Too strong of a defense
      Young won't play much
      Upgrade noble to pienaar
      Get Guthrie over britton forDGW

      1. PIP
        • Reputation Level: Scout

Thanks. I usually tend to have a sieve like defense, maybe I over compensated.

        1. Haha ya

    2. Taylor might not get as much PT as you think. Drop Young he is even more uncertain, replace him with Ji-Sung Park and upgrade Taylor.

  18. which group would you pick post DGW as the best long term strategy ?

    A. Mata , Guthrie and Torres
    B. Valencia , Jelavic and Mclean
    C. Nani , VDV and Graham
    D. Sess , Silva and Graham
    E. Yaya , Nolan and Suarez

      1. F. Mata, Yaya, Suarez

  19. clichy starting on sat?

    1. looks like it

    1. Guthrie, Frei, Marveux, Colback, Maloney, Gibson, Coleman, Miyachi, Kacaniklic(dont know much about him), Puncheon, El Ahmadi, and possibly raheem sterling and ross berkly if given a chance

  22. out of 10 if u please?

    DDG, Fed

    Ivan, Clyne, Hughes, Cuellar, Zab

    Bale, Nolan, Taarabt, Mata, Dembele

    Tev, Graham Torres

    £3M in the bank for Torres>Rooney , Mata>Silva

    1. do you mean Noble instead of nolan?

  23. RMT please lads?

    Vorm – Federici

    Hangeland – Lescott – A.Cole – Mc Cartney – Clyne

    Lampard – Kagawa – Noble – Pienaar – R. Kanu

    Aguero – Graham – Torres

With 2m to spare for the obvious Rooney transfer, not too sure about Pienaar and Noble any suggestions??

    1. both are gr8, stick wid this for few GW, if they dnt perform switch

    Kagawa Ramires Dyer Santi (allen)
    Augero Rooney Graham

Is taylor a sure shot bonifed starter? If not I'm getting simpson

  26. Test

  27. Please rate my team:
    DDG Ruddy
Zabaleta Jose Enrique Clark Cuellar Mariappa
Bale Mata Dyer Taarabt Marveaux(yes its a risk, but given newcastles tough first few games willing to take the punt with him on the bench, value could skyrocket should he play and well)
Torres (2mil in bank for roo) Tevez Podolski

Also: Does Lukaku intrigue anyone else, was kind of considering getting him in for podolski and swapping dyer/taarabt with an arsenal midfielder like Gervinho.

    Thanks :)

    1. gr8 will also luk in 2 tat Thanks :D

“I love to attack and I love to go up front...It is a little more difficult than when you are playing centre-back. If you play the way that I want to play, I think my influence is better as a left-back. For the team, it is best that I play as a centre-back. I like to bring the ball out. You need to move the game quickly, and that is one of my qualities as well.”

Jan Vertonghen outlines what he feels is his best position for Andre Villas-Boas
