Sunday Dugout Discussion – Gameweek 2
Filed under: Dugout Discussion - Posted by: Akers
There’s two tasty fixtures on the bill today, as the Dugout Discussion opens for the second installment of Gameweek two. We start at the Britannia Stadium as Stoke City host Arsenal, and the team news is in…
Stoke XI: Begovic, Wilkinson, Huth, Shawcross, Wilson, Pennant, Cameron, Whelan, Kightly, Walters, Crouch.
Arsenal XI: Mannone, Jenkinson, Mertesacker, Vermaelen, Gibbs, Diaby, Arteta, Podolski, Cazorla, Gervinho, Giroud.
Having been cleared to play, new signing Geoff Cameron makes his Potters debut in midfield. The visitors are without Wojciech Szczesnydue to a rib injury, so Vito Mannone is between the sticks. There’s a first league start for Olivier Giroud, with Theo Walcott the player making way.
Following that game we move to Anfield, where bottom of the league Liverpool welcome the visit of the Premier League champions Manchester City.
The Dugout Discussion chatroom is the place to follow all the action as it unfolds, and it can be accessed right here.

“I love to attack and I love to go up front...It is a little more difficult than when you are playing centre-back. If you play the way that I want to play, I think my influence is better as a left-back. For the team, it is best that I play as a centre-back. I like to bring the ball out. You need to move the game quickly, and that is one of my qualities as well.”

Can’t decide if I should get rid of Lennon? (the only spurs player I have) would have to take a further hit to try and bring Bale in for him, worth keeping?
August 26 at 6:16 pm
Elfozzie says:
Worth giving Spurs a chance I think considering next 3 fixtures. Wouldn’t take the hit though, so rarely worth it.

August 26 at 6:20 pm
Elfozzie says:
1 – I think Pienaar’s a better choice on form and history.
2 – Do you mean a double hit? Unlikely to be worth it.
August 26 at 6:23 pm

EverReady says:
Hey guys, hope the Tevez goal has made the majority happy here
Need to sort these transfers asap, so what I was thinking was..
Lampard -> Kagawa
Torres -> Van Persie
These would leave my mid/str as
Bale – Cazorla – Noble – Kagawa
Tevez – Graham – RVP
Would be grateful for any advice,
cheerss

2 Weeks and all of my defenders return with cleansheets *gloating*
August 26 at 6:25 pm
Elfozzie says:
Very impressive. I think that’s the secret to building really solid scores.
I had 5 cleansheets this week but just 2 last (although I did have 3 more cleanies on the bench GW1 – in Vorm, Rangel and Shawx)

Shark Dude says:
Why did Clichy get dropped from the squad today?!
Is my team terrible? I’m holding out on the WC. Rooney –> Tevez made. Ramires –> Routledge probably the other for a 4 pt hit.
Jaas / Ruddy
Clichy / Gibbs / Hange / R Taylor / Harte
Snodgrass / Hoilett / Routledge / Sig / Kagawa
Tevez / Torres / Vaz Te
Lots of them were subbed or subs this week – but keeping faith with most. Over the next few i’ll sift out Hoilett, R Taylor and Vaz Te (think the latter will score well at home but be sub every away match)

August 26 at 6:32 pm
RayneWooney says:
Who to get rid of to bring in RVP for Rooney (-4pt)?
Currently looking at A) Cole to Distin/Jags (have Vorm in net btw)
or
B) Cazorla/Nasri to Pienaar/Michu
The current mid and defence consists of Cole, Zab, Rafael, Nelsen, Clyne
Nasri, Cazorla, Hazard, Noble, Guthrie
(Roon, Tevez, Graham)

Najoman86 says:
Looking at Nasri > Pienaar myself. Free up the funds for Torres > RVP

What is the feeling on Fletcher (Sun)? How about Fletcher vs. Suarez?
August 26 at 7:17 pm
4-4-who? says:
Can be injury prone – Sunderland will find this out now they’ve paid the money…
August 27 at 1:16 am
Najoman86 says:
Definitely not a bad bit of business by Wolves. Jarvis and Fletcher moved on for close to £25m
Fletcher an interesting prospect…but definitely would not have him in front of Suarez. Matter of fact, think there is better value around the £6-£6.5m range for an alternate striker. Graham, Cisse, Lambert, Di Santo/Kone, Petric

Najoman86 says:
Torres and Nasri to (for -4pt):
[A] Kagawa & Adebayor
[B] Pienaar & RVP
No ManU cover in the side currently. Looking to change that with one of the above transfers
