Sky Sports Focus

Filed under: Fantasy Football Games - Posted by: Mark

With Monday bringing the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game into focus, it’s now time to assess how our community is faring in the Sky Sports Fantasy Football game. We also take a gander at the trends in the transfer market, assess the points per million statistics and look forward to tonight’s session with the Fantasy Football Club – with a very special guest in attendance…

Scout League Standings

As we mentioned in this week’s ScoutCast, Paul Hennessy continues to reign supreme in the Scout League, retaining his top spot for a third week running with a points tally of 396. That’s just a single point ahead of second ranked Ben Salter and the duo sit third and fifth in the game’s overall rankings. Hennessy is just four points shy of top spot in the race for the top prize of £25,000.

Lower down the Scout League, Jonathan Lenharth and Mark Hayles remain in our top five but they are joined by none other than Scout contributor Andy, who climbs into fifth. His points tally of 361 is shared with Niels Koopman – both sit in 57th place in the overall rankings.

The Scout League as a whole remains at the top of the league of leagues but the gap has now been narrowed to just six points.

Market Forces

With five goals to his name so far, Robin Van Persie continues to earn the top Fantasy interest in the Sky Sports game and has been subject of over 7% of the transfers made this week. Mirroring the trends in the FPL game, Marouane Fellaini’s stock has enjoyed a rapid rise and he ranks second for transfers over the last seven days – he’s been party to over 5% of trades made, with Arsenal’s Santi Cazorla also in demand with a similar stat ahead of the Emirates clash against Chelsea.

At the other end of the scale, it’s been Eden Hazard and Carlos Tevez who have taken a tumble. Both were so prolific for returns in the early Gameweeks but a couple of blanks for Hazard and the threat of rotation for Tevez has severely dented confidence. In the Sky Sports game we’ve seen Hazard transferred out by 5% of his ownership this week – only Fernando Torres has suffered more. As for Tevez, his decline is more gradual but almost 4% of his owners have traded in this week.

Interestingly, Hazard still ranks very highly for value based on his returns in the opening Gameweeks. Only Michu can offer better returns per pound than the Belgian amongst the midfielders with Cazorla and Fellaini currently ranking behind the Chelsea man for points per million.

The value stats are even more interesting when you move up front where we find Norwich City’s Robert Snodgrass – perhaps wrongly classified as a forward – heading up the value list. He’s returned 32 points thus far – that’s 5.08 points per million, putting him ahead of Jermain Defoe (4.74) and Rickie Lambert (4.71). At the back, it’s Carl Jenkinson heading the list with a strong 7.63 points per million. He’s ahead of the West Ham pair – Winston Reid (6.50) and Guy Demel (5.83). The Hammers defensive form has also seen Jussi Jaaskelainen top the goalkeeper value rankings with a points per million tally of 5.26.

The Fantasy Football Club – 10pm Tonight

West Ham’s Matt Taylor will be the guest in the studio for tonight’s episode of the Fantasy Football Club. This offers me a special opportunity as Granville and I will also be in the studio lurking about (but not on screen thankfully) – I might just get to shake the hand of one of my Fantasy football and Scout Pick fixations. As Scout player legends go, Taylor is probably up there with Victor Moses and Aleks Kolarov – although my faith in Taylor was at least repaid on several occasions. You can join Fenners and Merse from 10pm tonight.

      1. Away to Liverpool and away to United? I think not.

      2. yeah what good fixtures do they have?

  2. Wild card worthy yay or nay?

    Foster

Cole ● lescott ● Hughes ● demel
    Pienaar ● cazorla ● valencia

RVP ● tevez ● Ba

    Subs: guthrie/clyne/ dyer k*/fedrici

  3. team as it stands is

    Foster
    Baines Demel Ridgewell*
    Cazorla Yaya Hazard Michu
    RvP Tevez Jackson

subs: Cerny, Jenkinson, Reid, El Ahmadi

Worth losing Hazard/Michu for Fellaini ? Can't stand seeing efc midfielders pick the points as i wallow with has-beens Michu/Hazard.

    1. lol to jackson

  4. Scout Pick Prediction:

    Mignolet (WIG)

Baines (sot) Johnson (nor) Vermaelen (CHE)

Cazorla (CHE) Fellaini (sot) Pienaar (sot) Gerrard (nor)

Fletcher (WIG) Robin Van Persie (TOT) Ba (rea)

    what do we reckon?

    1. ok so I hadn't seen the scout picks before this. Fairly chuffed at getting 9/14 right...

      1. 28 points for you then

  5. I think I saw it posted before but did Alexander Buttner literally make the most 'complete' debut of any player ever? He scored, he assisted one, kept a CS, got a yellow card, got 3 bonus points, undoubtedly got MOM....it's some start to his Man United Career!

    1. All that was missing was Lindegaard to be sent off so he could go in goal and get a penalty save

      1. Or score and miss a penalty.

        1. and get sent off

  6. scout picks picked...

    1. Good spot, sir.

  7. 3 of the 15 scout picks for me..

    1. 6 out of 15 for me

  8. Okay guys, just a quick one before I go out and get absolutely smashed, so I don’t need to tamper with my team while I’m drunk later.. How does it look?

    Jaaskalainen

    A.Cole Cuellar Zabaleta

    Hazard Fellaini(c) Sterling Kagawa

    Suarez P.Cisse(vc) Tevez

    subs: Schwarzer Demel Michu Hangeland

I can’t make any transfers, I just want to make sure if I’ve got the best starting 11, and the best captain choice. That is all I need, s’il vous plait!!

    1. hope you've given your gks thought, that's a tough one. Basically 50/50 imo so f**k it you're fine

      1. Thanks for the input, Tayls!

    2. I'm not sure if leaving Michu on the bench is a good choice, and playing Sterling in his place.. Or if Tevez will get 90 minutes, but I think he plays best with Aguero and (looks like he) usually gets the nod over Balotelli and Dzeko.

Is my captain choice the right pick?

  9. Federici > Begovic (have Friedel, who will play most weeks) or

    Noble > Sterling

    Which is more pressing??

    1. difficult one, spurs fixtures after tomorrow are nice but if avb drops freidel u gotta problem
i do think sterlings going to get a few points in the next 3 though

  10. Could somebody give me an idea of which two would be best to play out of these guys:

Ivanovic (ars), Cuellar (WIG), Demel (qpr), Jenkinson (CHE)

Also, chances of Kacaniklic playing if Berbatoff is really injured.....?

    Cheers

  11. Ait, people, if you could please help. This Berbatov situation has made things not look to good. Already took a -hit- to get him in.

    Should i WC?

    Foster - Non-playing 4.0

    Ivan - Cuellar - Baines - Demel - Clark

    Cazorla - Bale - Maloney - Dyer - Kagawa

    Lambert - RVP - Berbatov

  12. Lost on last page but I'll simple it, who should I sub out of Sterling or Tevez?

  13. NEW POST

  14. how does this WC team look??

    mannone (ruddy)
    baines davies cuellar (demel, hughes)
gaston ramirez, cazorla michu fellaini (sterling)
    aguero (C), rvp, ba

    1.1m in the bank!
    .

  15. Yaya/Hazard to Barfa for -4 pt hit.

Which one should I lose/Is it worth the hit?

    1. lose the hazard and get in gaston ramirez he is really a class act waiting to explode

      1. he plays for saints though

  16. Tevez has only played 206 minutes of football in the last month. If he needs resting i need to seriously change my job. For me he's just got as much chance as any of the other 3 strikers pulling the shirt on this week.

  17. Rangel vs Demel? To be honest both look a bit dodge. Not as dodgy as Hughes though. Grrr

    1. Swansea are 10/3 to keep a clean sheet and West ham are 3/1 if that's any help. Rangel got the extra attacking returns possibility. Close one

  18. Who should be my captain? RVP or Ba?

    I have Fellaini too...
