Reports are starting to surface that the FA will take no further action on a trio of controversial incidents that occurred in the Gameweek gone by. Robin Van Persie’s alleged elbow on Yohan Cabaye at the Sports Direct Arena was reviewed by Howard Webb and was not considered to be an act of violent conduct, meaning the Dutchman will be available for United’s Gameweek 8 home showdown against Stoke.

The decision will no doubt infuriate Alan Pardew – the Newcastle boss called for Van Persie to be banned after yesterday’s 3-0 loss. United subbed off their summer signing just four minutes after the incident, with Pardew certain of the Dutchman’s intent:

“He has looked at Yohan and he has elbowed him, and I think that perhaps needs to be looked at, if I am honest. There’s a bit of history from last year and I don’t know if Robin has been caught up in that, but that was just a little bit unsavoury. I actually thought Yohan wouldn’t have gone down if he hadn’t done something. I didn’t see it myself, but I have obviously seen it on the replay and it looks like he has looked at him and put his elbow there.”

Pardew did receive some good news, however, after Webb also failed to report Cheick Tiote’s apparent stamp on Tom Cleverley in the same match.

Elsewhere, Robert Huth has escaped a possible suspension for violent conduct. The Stoke defender appeared to stamp on Luis Suarez in yesterday’s goalless draw at Anfield but will not have to face the authorities. This somewhat atones for his failed appeal back in February, where the German was slapped with a three-match ban for a tackle on Sunderland’s David Meyler.

  1. hba or fletch, who to play in the derby? I have to bench 1

    1. play fletcher.

    2. Judging by Evans and Evra's goals - Fletcher. But Collocini and Taylor would both be back, you'd think - so that's less of an issue.

      Would probably still play Fletch.

      1. I have Fletcher Saylor and Hba. Tricky one

        1. Bench Saylor and pray for goals.

    3. cheers, i have a feeling ill be swapping them in and out over the next 2 weeks ;)

  2. GK: Vorm, Bego
DEF: Baines, gibbs, cuellar, demel, Saylor
MID: bale, michu, Hazard, Kac , pienaar
    ATT: lambert, berba, RVP
    0.3 in bank

    A) RVP, vorm, lambert, saylor
    B)Kun/tevez, foster, ba, rafael

    would be doing...
    RVP>Kun/tevez
    vorm>foster
    lambert>ba
    saylor>rafael
    and possibly michu>morrison/nolan

    1. Wildcard or point hits?

      1. hits over next few wks

  3. Current squad is;
    Federici Jussi
    Cole Demel Mertesacker McAuley Bertrand
    Hazard Michu Yaya Maloney Noble
    RVP Tevez Podolski
    £0.1m, 2 FT

    Some obvious problems in there, but they can wait; for now I’m thinking of the following (4pt hit);
    RVP > Ba
    Yaya > Carzola
    McAuley > Baines

Anyone see any better options? RVP is the big decision...

    1. RVP>ba
      noble>pienaar
      forst

    2. Awesome front line! (same as mine)

I love the latter 2, less keen on the one that finances them. Partly because I've decided to keep RVP (for now) - and partly because Cisse concerns me about Ba's output. If I was doing that it would be to Berbatov (who happens to be genuine captaincy shout next gameweek as it happens)

      1. Cheers Limpar. Read a few of your comments on RVP today and they've given me food for thought. It's a tough one as I'd ideally keep him, but it's a lot of money tied up that I could really use elsewhere...

That's a great cal on Berba; could do Tevez>Berba but I think Tevez will do well with wba, SWA, whm to come.

As you can probably tell, I've gone round in circles on this one for some time!!

        1. Yeah I'm definitely keeping Tevez too with those fixtures.

Obv redistributing RVP money is a really valid option at this stage. As I say, Berbatov is the only downgrading replacement that really tempts me (and that's mostly to do with an easy home fixture on the horizon). RVP will clearly score more than Berbatov season long though. I think the argument really boils down to upgraded midfield Vs. Captaincy option.

You clearly get a lot of return in your upgrades above.

I should also say as a fellow Podolski owner I am looking at Podolski > Giroud. I think the time might be ripe!

          1. All very good points and I do wonder if Giroud may well follow the Henry 'model' and now bag a hatful. Having said that I'm coming round to Podolski > Berba and Yaya > Cazorla; allows me to get in Berba but also retain Arsenal coverage for 2 great games and, sticking the Tevez, the same for City.

Means I miss out on Baines but I guess that's one trend I can go without.

Thanks - that's been really useful.

  4. any advice what to do with my team lads?

    Foster / Ruddy

    Demel / Nelsen / Gorkss / Baines / Hughes

    Hazard / Michu / Guthrie / Cazorla / Morrison

    RVP / Jelavic / Suarez

    2FT's and 1.1M in bank

my defence looks terrible and i wanna get Willson in for Demel/Gorkss/Nelsen

i am happy with my MF+Atack but so temped to do Hazard  Silva

any advice how would you spebt 2FT with team like this?

    1. Happy about MF? What about Guthrie?
      Maybe do Guthrie  Sterling?

      1. Guthrie is just a filter who will never play

        like ferguson last year

i have bigger issues than him at this moment

        1. How about Demel/Gorkss/Nelsen  Cuellar then?
Sunderland are a good defensive team for cleanies

        2. +1 gorkss>clark maybe

    2. Maybe Wisdom?

      1. Enrique? i am scared that he will get in starting 11 when he recovers

but i would like to have Wisdom for sure

        1. I'm not worried about him. Enrique is very average and Wisdom has played very well in the 2 games he's played. There is no reason he'll be dropped imo.

        2. Cuellar is more nailed on but Wisdom will have more of an attacking threat. Cuellar has a DGW at some stage. Both are for the long haul I presume as let's face it, you don't want to be using up too many transfers with 4.5 defenders.

    3. the hazard>silva move can wait for another week, no? an awa trip to hawthorns won't be easy for many team this season.

gorkks has decent enough fixtures to keep his place. ruddy> begovic OR demel> shawc/wilson

gives u 2 freebies for the following week too

      1. i wanna keep Demel

        Nelsen will go

        solid advice this...

it was the dumbest move ever get Ruddy over Bego at my WC!

and i 'll hold with my 2FT as long as possible due unexpected injurees

        1. same here. Picked ruddy over bego in week 3 WC

    4. Whatever you do, make sure you have lined up the cash for your Michu transfer next week. That's what I have to keep working out.

      Does this fit your budget?

      Hazard  Silva
      Demel  Wilson

      And

      Michu  HBA

      1. Why is Michy out a must? SOT coming up in 3 weeks :)

        1. Card magnet, Swansea aren't consistent and better value around for his fixtures coming up (City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, United, Spurs and Newcastle to play in 10 GWs).

          1. 15 goals in La Liga last season - 17 in all competitions, scored against Real Madrid, if you have had him in from the start - why drop him? Can't find much better value in the 6m - 7m range.

            1. I have had him from the start. He's just not for me. Like I said he's a card magnet, He doesn't fit well with PPI with shots off target etc and I can't ignore those fixtures. the fixtures are shifting towards Stoke, Sunderland, Newcastle Everton, Southampton and there's loads of potential in the 6 - 7.5 bracket from those clubs

      2. yeah,no problems with that

and i was looking at same combo as well

you think it's smart to get rid of hazard at this stage?

        1. It's one I'm considering. Chelsea fixtures are poor and while they are going through them we will get to see whether it should be Mata or Hazard or dare I say it Torres

        2. Hazard is a big $$ saver. I for one am 50-50 on deploying my WC this week though I may wait. I would like to wait for massive injuries to hit the squad and/or a double gameweek to play it but I do have Hazard [world prefer Mata], Lambert [would prefer Berbatov], Gerbinho [would prefer Cazorla], Tevez [would prefer Suarez or Aguero] RVP taking up 13m+ and a potentially injured Gibbs, Clyne, and Demel - though I think 1 or 2 of those 3 should feature after rest for the next 2 weeks. It's not that "Bad" or a disaster as of course Gervinho, Tevez and Hazard could easily score in the next 1-2 weeks and all could be fine but it is certainly tempting...

Just don't see a great run of fixtures for a single team or two this week to jump on. Anyway - I do think hazard to mata is good to increase value elsewhere, I'm just torn about making the WC plunge or not... good luck.

    5. Now isn't the week for Wilson is it.

Tbh I think it looks okay for now and would try not to think too much about it until the end of the international break when either you will have picked up an injury in your squad or an injury to another player will have a knock-on effect and make somebody a better pick.

      1. yeah, fair enough cause my team isn't bad at all

at least i stop thinking about shiping RVP out :)

        1. Until he gets injured on international duty that is.

    6. Guthrie to Nolan and sell RVP and distribute the cash

  5. Hey guys,

    How's this midfield looking:

    Pienaar, Nolan, Cazorla, Sterling, Bale

    1. Even now Bale's pinned his ears back and Peanut's cut his locks off, that is still a pretty odd looking midfield. A rogue's gallery.

      All good fpl picks though

      1. Haha, cheers!

    2. good answer above plz

    3. Lonely without a defence or attack around it. Na, solid

      1. Defence is - Riise, Rafael, Skrtel, Mertesacker, Nelsen
        Forwards - Aguero, Jelavic, Suarez

        1. Different but I like it. Shows you what you can do without RVP

          1. Thanks mate.

Gone for the generic Begovic and Foster combo in GK.

Had RVP from the start until now as I've decide to play my wildcard and the options you have from not having RVP is incredible, for me this far outweighs his goals return.

            1. If it a wildcard I wouldn't go with Mertesacker as he's a rotation risk with Kos

  6. Hi,
I was going to WC after gw 8 because of the sudden fixture change for some teams, however, with the latest injury update I am thinking to hit the button now...

What would you do with this team

    foster fed
    baines demel clyne a.williams cuellar
    michu hazard santi guthrie ramirez
    rvp jelly graham

1 FT, 2.9 in the bank
Really wanted to hold on to swans, besides after the int break the big stars usually dont deliver...

    Any advice is appreciated.

    Thx

    1. Graham might be benched though or see only 45 min if starting.
Could just do ramirez to Nolan and WC the week after?

  7. Why would I pay 13m+ for RVP?
    - Best captain choice in the game imo as you can captain him against any opposition and be confident of him returning some points.
    - He’s on penalties.
    - United’s fixtures after Arsenal(H) are very good (avl, nor, QPR, WHU, rea) and I would captain him in everyone of those fixtures. You might argue that you would want another United option that’s cheaper than him but I think that there are no options that are better than him.
    - Kagawa @ 8.4m is unlikely to play 90 minutes and is usually substituted off when Fergie wants to change the formation although he will most probably pitch in with goals and assists over these games.
    - Rooney @ 11.7m is the main alternative to RVP imo but is not as likely to score/assist due to him playing in the support striker position.

    Why wouldn’t I pay 13m+ for RVP
    - In these ‘easier’ fixtures he may be more susceptible to rotation as they can afford to give him a rest. The games he COULD be rotated in are the Villa game which is 3 days after a trip to Braga or the QPR game which is 4 days after a trip to Galatasaray, although he may not play these games due to United having the UCL group sewn up already (or close to winning the group).
    - You could think that there are forwards that are cheaper and are better captain choices and better value than him.

    1. One more - he possibly is not on pens. I am pretty sure Rooney will pull rank after the early season mistakes.

      1. Didn't Fergie imply that he would be on penalties

      2. Who has that quote from Fergie then?

        1. If Rooney loses pens hell be off soon. He "said" he like midfield, but he's a striker and loves scoring goals!

          1. Take your word for it Colleen ;-)

      3. I've seen Rooney miss more penalties than I've seen Van Persie miss. SAF seemed pretty bullish about it too, and Rooney's rank doesn't count for much with him.

    2. The second point is debatable.

      1. It's really not. If RVP is on the pitch, he will take the pens

    3. - Most reliable but by the looks of it less likely to produce explosive hauls compared with last years. Especially as he is more likely to share BPs.
      - Thats 3 weeks away but yes is a good point.

      - I think United will finish that group off easily enough with minimal RVPness from here on out.

I really don't think he's worth 13m+. BUT I can't see any other way to cover United and going without United players is a right royal pain so perhaps he is. Plus he has actually scored or assisted in every game he's started so far.

      1. It's the last point that is the most important for me.

    4. I think pens will be shared. Both are decent but not amazing pen takers (like Lambert or Baines)

    5. -Injury prone and didnt get injured last season so it's a matter of time!!

  8. Really really tempted to whack the wildcard out.

    Going from...

    Jussi and Foster
Demel, Jagielka, Haangaland, Fonte and Williams
Hazard, Fellaini, Pienaar, Santi and Britton
    Suarez, Fletcher and Van Persie

    to

    Jussi and Foster
Fonte, Caulker, Wisdom, Baines and Barnett
Sterling, Guthrie, Pienaar, Bale and Santi
    Suarez, Torres and Van Persie

Feel I have got most of the main sides covered with players who wont be rotated too much (bar Man City but its impossible to know what team is playing from one week to the next)

    So Stick or Twist??

  9. For the next few weeks;
    A. Nolan and Aguero
    or
    B.Hazard and Berbatov

    1. Nolan will be swapped out for Ramirez after a few weeks.

    2. Ignore this, I need to find a better way to word it!

  10. Why is no one on Berbatov - Fulham have 3 easy fixtures coming up. I would rather have him than RVP over the next 3 game weeks.

    1. Really? Most people here have a hard-on for Berba. Lots of people are bringing him in this week or have kept him on the their bench for the previous two.

    2. Plenty of people are on Berba! What are you on?

      1. Rvp Ba and Fletcher, and MDMA.

        1. Tasty combo ;) I have the same but am swapping Fletch for Berba

  11. Best choice of defender for 6mil or under?

    1. Riise is not a bad shout.

  12. new post lads

  13. Kevin Peterson trying to match Gayle's Ganghnam style. Worth a look lads.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O1cy9HSie7c

  14. Evening lads!! :D

Everyone quite set on the Hazard>Cazorla transfer for next GW? Not madness to lose Haz for Caz is it?

  15. confused now....
    please please help me

should i do graham -> berba tonight?
    graham (5.8) -> berba (7.0)
    1FT, cash 1.2M

graham on 53% drop NTI -975
berba on 52% drop NTI -329

whether i do it or not, i "have to" drop 0.1 on team value right?

should i do the transfer now? or later? or save it?

    1. wait til both have dropped so you have less to wait for increases on Berba and less potential drops

      1. ty benz :(

        1. ...or if graham suddenly loses loads and is about to drop and berba is a long way off just do it to make sure you don't miss out. but if you can, do it when berba is lower so you will get more rises

  16. Thoughts about my team please

    Cech
Baines rafael Gibbs / demel Clyne
Mata bale cazorla silva / kaca
    Lambert Torres berbs

    1. very nice. might want to try to find some utd attacking coverage at some point but you have a huge mf. must be a wc'd team right?

      1. also gibbs might be an issue, keep an eye on him

  17. Routledge and Rafael in for Mariappa and Michu, worth - 4 hit ?

  18. Jussi Begovic

    Gorkss Bertrand Ivanovic Baines Rafael

    Nolan Hazard Gervinho Sterling Fellaini

    Ba Fletcher Berbatov.

£7.0m in the bank. Where is the priority to strengthen?

  19. Howard – Jaaskelainen
    Baines – McAuley – Hughes – Demel – Barnett
    Michu – Hazard – HBA – Sterling – Fellaini
    RVP – Ba – Crouch

team value: 101.8 bank: 0.6 free trades: 2

Michu and Hazard ----> Santi Cazorla and Theo Walcott

    1. smart move? or rubbish?
