Sky Sports Focus

Our Sky Sports Fantasy Football community come into focus on Fridays, having given the Fantasy Premier League frontrunners some oxygen way back when Gameweek 7 came to a close – a distant memory. As always, we focus on the top of the Scout League, track the latest movements in the Sky Sports transfer market and check on Fenners and Merse before tonight’s Fantasy Football Club episode…

The Scout League

There’s movement on top of the Scout League, with Jonathan Lenharth toppling long-time leader, Paul Hennessy, to nudge back to the summit. Jonathan’s “BetterThanLastYear” lineup nicks the lead by six points with a total of 488 points. That’s enough to place him in eighth place overall, a full 28 points behind the leader in the race for the 25k top prize.

Ben Salter is settled in third place in the Scout League, with Gary Paterson and Chris Tuck breathing down his neck. Scout contributor Andy has slipped to 24th spot in the league – a decline, but still a fine showing.

Fantasy Football Scout’s top five still sits comfortably on top of the Private League leaderboard – with a ten point gap on the league in second.

A reminder that if youโ€™re playing the Sky Sports game and have yet to join our league, you can sign up to the FFScout League with this Pin: 8004519.

Market Forces

Santi Cazorla was the apple of our eye in this week’s ScoutCast and, it seems, our enthusiasm has leaked across into the Sky Sports transfer market. Arsenal’s Spaniard has been the most popular target over the international break, claiming over 6% of the transfers in since Gameweek 7 drew to a close. His goal and a third man of the match award of the season at West Ham, no doubt whipping up the enthusiasm for a player who looks well placed to reward investment for a modest fee of 6.7 in this game. Cazorla is now in the top five most owned players, with over 26% of managers acquiring his services.

Cazorla’s team-mate, Carl Jenkinson, goes on attracting suitors who are either oblivious to the threat of Bacary Sagna or confident that the young full-back will retain his start in the coming weeks. Jenkinson ranks second for “transfers in” this week with Chelsea pairing Branislav Ivanovic and Petr Cech coming next. With Leighton Baines in fifth, it’s significant that four of the top five targets this week are defenders – a reflection of the value they are currently offering in this game.

At the other end of the market, Carlos Tevez continues to top the transfers out as frustration builds on his recent rotation and lack of returns, although he is clinging to a 24% ownership, second only to Robin Van Persie who has amassed 38% coverage amongst the forwards.

Fantasy Football Club

Out of position Fantasy Football hero, Ryan Taylor, shimmies into the studio with Fenners and Merse ahead of Sunday’s Tyne-Wear derby for tonight’s episode of the Fantasy Football Club. You can clock in from 10pm tonight and look out for the ITK’s tips for the weekend.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    *Shameful repost*

Off to Newcastle (Australian version) all day/night tomorrow so I probably won’t be on until late night over here, which is afternoon/night over there soooo….
To cut a pointless story short, who would you captain?

    A. Nolan (SOT) – this is what my gut tells me…or maybe it’s just gas.
    B. RVP (STK) – Stoke are tough, but have conceded 22 goals in their last 8 @ OT and RVP is virtually fixture proof
    C. Suarez (RDG) – easiest fixture and main Liverpool man going forward, but how many times has he and Liverpool failed miserably against shite opposition?
    D. Cazorla (nor) – Should be good for an assist or three but is arguably not very explosive. Norwich are pants but he did only score 5 points in a 6-1 win earlier on..

Haven't finalised my WC team yet, but prob something like:

              Foster – Bego
              Baines – Rafael – Riise(–>Sagna) – Wilson – Some random
              Bale – Santi – Pienaar – Lallana – Sterling

I'm planning to have Foster/Bego for as long as possible as they rotate brilliantly. He'll get his fair share of games over the next few.

I've had Rafael since the start, so I have fond memories.

Ahh fair doo's, great team, I think I'll be getting Evans in GW10/11 for Gunter that useless piece of trash.
We'll have 8/9 similar depending on who "some random" is..and I guess Evans/Rafael are almost the same so 9 or 10, not bad.

So i got 2 FT's and i am doin Fellaini/Dyer to sterling.. the question is which one goes out? if i get rid of dyer i'll have a probably fit Fellaini next week so i can use my 2 FT's elsewhere. However there is a danger he'll keep fallin like mad and make me lose a ton of cash. If i do Fellaini to Sterling i will HAVE to get rid of Dyer next week ( i will have 2 FT's though)

Spent some time thinking of how I can improve my team but not many changes appeal to me. Ive 0.2 in the bank, and one FT. My defence is lightweight, but I prefer having better players in midfield/affack. Any suggestions as to changes needed?

    Hello everyone

this is my current squad which was doing pretty well but i'm sure chelsea have some tough fixtures ahead, so i'm planning to offload most of them

GK: Cech, Davies - Planning to offload Cech for Begovic
Def: Ivanovic, McAuley, Gibbs, Demel, Harte - Ivanovic off for Marc Wilson?
Mid: Bale, HBA, Michu, Yaya, Snodgrass - Snodgrass off for Carzola?
Att: Suarez, Torres, Lambert - Should i offload Torres for Rvp given the available funds i have by offloading iva and cech?

Appreciate any feedback thank you! ๐Ÿ™‚

Take 2, Forgot to add my team last time round..

    Foster (Begovic)
    Baines - Davies - Demel (Gibbs,Gorkss)
    Hazard - Cazorla - Michu - Pienaar
    RVP - Tevez - Fletcher

What to do with this Lot?

    A) Fletcher out Berba in
    B) Hazard out Bale in
    C) Hazard out Ben Arfa in
    D) Gibbs out Riise/Hangeland in

A or D means i can still get Bale & BenArfa in for Haz & Michu next week, better to do (D) with Gibbs and Demel both looking likely to be out?

    cheers

    Best option:

    1. Tevez > Suarez

    2. Fletcher > Berbatov

    3. Tevez > Berbatov, Fellaini > Cazorla (four point hit)*

    * already have Gervinho for Arsernal coverage and first sub is Maloney.

Used to hate Kevin Muscat, but I'm having a rethink.

In October 2010, Ashley Young recalled he was threatened by Muscat during his first professional match as an 18 year old. "Kevin Muscat said he would break my legs if I went past him," said Young.

I love that technique, there was a guy in the NBA called Vernon Maxwell and he was the only one who could get under Jordans skin. Always when Jordan got hot he told him that if you score 1 more basket I will hit you and every time he did. It was awesome ๐Ÿ˜€

    Repost.

With Fellaini now ruled out, what would you do?

    A) Nolan - meaning I'd have to bench Sterling against Reading.
    B) Pienaar - Decent long term pick but again, probably benching Sterling.
    C) Walters - Bench this week, play Sterling.
    D) Keep - Play Sterling, keep Fellaini for Liverpool and pray he doesn't pick up a booking.

    Thoughts?
