The Fantasy Flutter with Paddy Power – Gameweek 8

Filed under: Betting - Posted by: Money Mike

Controversy is typically saved for the final fixtures of a major tournament’s qualifying rounds, but as England’s exploits in both Serbia and Poland have left an indignant taste for many, the return of the Premier League cannot come soon enough. It’s been a fortnight of frustration but can we now find an edge to help us pick our punts in Paddy Power’s special markets? Read on to find out in this week’s Fantasy Flutter…

Liverpool may well be enjoying the spotlight either side of the pond with their light-hearted documentary donning network prime-time, but the grim reality show – featuring six points in seven games – shows a club more likely to get canned than win a BAFTA. Rarely out of the news, Luis Suarez has to grab the goals for Brendan Rodgers’ outfit if they are to emerge from the doldrums; the Uruguayan has at least been in decent form of late, netting once over the international break in addition to racking up five so far domestically. Paddy have Suarez at 2/1 to find the net and for Liverpool to hold out for a clean-sheet against Reading. That might not seem much of a steal but with the Merseysiders’ last two home defeats coming from Man United and Arsenal, there might well be a bit of value to it. We’ll take £5 at the 2′s and pen this in as our banker.

Dimitar Berbatov hasn’t featured on the international scene for a couple of years, giving him a chance to rest up over these fortnight breaks and ready himself for domestic duty. He might still be a bit leggy from his thigh injury when Fulham take on Villa at Craven Cottage on Saturday, but with a pair of goals and an assist in two and a half games so far this term, he’s already made an impact at the Cottage. Paddy are pricing Berbatov up at 5/1 for a goal and a Fulham cleanie at home to Villa and that looks well worth £2 of our money.

West Ham have made a very decent impression on the top flight after gaining a leg-up from the Championship. Sitting in eighth place and with 11 points on the board, their start has been encouraging, and with Andy Carroll barging his way back to fitness, we’re expecting more goals from Big Sam’s lineup. Kevin Nolan’s experience has helped guide them through some tough early fixtures, and he’ll be in and about the box to poach another as Southampton make the trip up to East London. Paddy are offering 6/1 on a Nolan goal and a clean-sheet for West Ham, reflecting both the Hammers’ recent successes and Southampton’s failings. Even though it’s a fair return, we’re only gonna take a quid on this one.

Our last £2 is tentatively riding on a tempting treble which backs a Berbatov goal, a Santi Cazorla assist at Carrow Road and a Man United clean sheet against visiting Stoke. This is a very decent 16/1 treble, featuring form and statistical favour; we’ve struggled getting these ones over the line in recent weeks, so the time is right for us to pick one up.

  1. Have 2 Freebies & 0.3m cash. i wud really appreciate some help here.

    Vorm, Bego
    Cole McAul Hughes Demel Nelson

    How about
    McAul -> Simpson Cole -> Rafael ???

  2. Lost on previous page

    Foster or Gazzaniga?

  3. Best MF for 7.7m on WC

    Rest of Front 7/8

    Bale Cazorla Nolan Pienaar

    Ba Jelavic Berbatov

Any help and comments would be appreciated

    1. If you don't mind doubling up on ARS how about Gerv? £7.5m

if you can shift an extra 0.2 Barfa?

    2. Michu? Ben Arfa is good, Duff, You can get Duff and use other money left to improve striker. Berba isn't killing enough. Fulham has a lot of choice strikers. Morrison?

    3. Gamble on Sahin?

  4. I already asked this question yesterday. A guy said Don't take a hit.
So i will ask again to make sure If anyone agree with his opinion

    Here is my team:
    1.0 in Bank
    Vorm
    Rafael - Vermaelen - Hangeland
    Michu - Santi - Fellaini - Kaca
    Torres - RVP - BA
sub: Demel - Cuellar - Guthrie - Begovic

Should i take a hit To replace Fellaini? He's injured, Kaca isn't guarantee starting eleven or 90 mins. Guthrie low chance to play. Demel is injured.
    So guys?

    1. Depends who you are bring in.

      1. Who should? Duff. Pienaar ? I might not take a hit. But what do you think? is there any midfield can give me a lot of points to beat my 4 hit? Fellaini is i sell him is 7.1 so i only can get 8.1 midfield for my limit.

        1. Hba for 8.1?

          1. His static not consistent enough for that amount of money.

      1. Yaya should be nailed on to get the 4 points for the hit

    2. Yes - take a hit. If the alternative is a no-show. Nolan a good choice for next 2 GWs. For longer term thinking, maybe Morrison or Pienaar.

      1. Could drop Kaca or Guthrie

        1. Good idea but only Routledge is the only choice. Not guarantee to cover my 4 hit

    3. Pienaar, easy

    4. Should i take a hit now and get 8.1 or lower midfield to replace Fellaini. or take a hit next week to get Bale??

      1. Either play Demel and get Bale next week

Or just take the hit and be satisfied looking pienaar in your team against QPR!

        1. isn't it Demel injured.
Basically this is my opponent that im going to verse this week game. http://fantasy.premierleague.com/entry/1872662/event-history/7/ Im not sure which player he get on this week or may be he uses Wildcard. So compare to my team if he's not use wildcard?

          1. You can see if he's used his wildcard, it would say 'Played' if he had used it previous or 'Active' if it's this week

I have Demel in my team incase he starts

Just put Pienaar in, he's good for long term

  5. Morning all :) really need some help today after playing my wildcard, thinks its gna be a sink or swim moment here... so 3 questions :)

Who do i bench out of these 3 mids? (A) Bale (B) Mata (C) Pienaar
Who do i cap this week? (A) Berbatov (B) Cazorla (C) Giroud or..?? (D) Nolan

....and finally (bear with me xD) Which of these trio do i transfer in (A) Mannone, Riise, Collocini
    (B) Schwatzer, Hangeland, Mertesacker

    1. Bench Mata. Hmm not sure.. Mata is good, Bale as well. Pienaar too.
Captain hmm. Berba may be or cazorla. Giroud he hard to score even against shit team.

      1. I mean

        B
        B
        B

        1. But not convinced about either trio!

  6. so, is China Mag getting Kolarov in or did he finally succumb to people's disapproval here?

    1. Kolarov

  7. How many points do you think I will get from this team:

    Jaaskelainen

    Cole – Davies – Rafael

Nolan – Ben Arfa – Gervinho – Pienaar

Ba – Aguero (vc) – Van Persie (c)

Subs: Begovic – Sterling – Gorkss – Gibbs

  8. Who will win following games?

    Man U v Stoke
    Norwich v Arsenal
    WBA v MCI
    Fulham v Aston V

    Cheers

    1. no crystal ball here, sorry.

    2. Man U
      Arsenal
      Draw
      Fulham

  9. All Blacks v Wallabies about to start. As an AB's fan I have a funny feeling that we could lose this one. Should be a good game.
