Monitor – Santi Cazorla

On an almost-weekly basis, Santi Cazorla records stand-out Opta statistics without producing Fantasy returns. The Spaniard’s role in “the hole” for Arsenal affords him plenty time to wreak havoc in the final third but with a single goal in his last four Gameweeks and without an assist in his last six, many Fantasy managers are starting to jump ship.

There is no doubt Cazorla is a wonderful talent but when mid-price alternatives such as Marouane Fellaini and Kevin Nolan have bettered his Fantasy Premier League (FPL) score from similar roles for Everton and West Ham respectively, and James Morrison is just a single point behind the former Malaga man, Cazorla’s price tag weighs heavy on our budgets. In this latest article for Members, we compare his performances over the past four Gameweeks to his opening seven appearances, while also taking a look at Cazorla’s home and way displays over the course of the season so far.

Since returning from international duty in Gameweek 8, there’s been a definite drop in Cazorla’s statistics. Earlier this month, Arsene Wenger admitted fatigue has played a part in the playmaker’s performances – bearing in mind Spain face a long-haul flight home from Panama after this evening’s late kick-off, the Gunners boss has a potential headache prior to Saturday lunchtime’s north London derby:

“Cazorla played 17 games since the start of the season and 17 games of complete intensity and therefore of course he’s a little bit less fresh at the moment.”

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Because I fancy him getting a shed load of goals over the coming few weeks. He is a much more direct threat then Caz. From what I've seen, Caz is pretty heavily reliant upon the team around him playing well. Bale, not so much, though a few converted crosses wouldn't hurt.

Disagree, and that's exactly why I'm holding on.

He's the only really classy player in their squad. Once everyone else gets their act together I think he'll start scoring big.

            Disclaimer: Might still get Silva.

Would I be right in saying that in previous seasons in order to rise in price a player needed:

30k net transfers in to rise 0.1
An additional 60k to rise another 0.1
And an additional 120k to rise the final 0.1

Where as this season it's just 30k each time for a rise

    Or am I mistaken?

Sandro (in form) would tear him apart.

Sandro - Tom; Clint (versus) Arteta - Wilshere/Ramsey; Santi

The 3 midfielders of Spurs are much stronger than the 3 Gunners.

I think Arsenal its going to be an easy target. I imagine a lot of goals, probably 2-3 (Spurs win).

The rest clearly helped, but it was more than that. Perhaps partly because he was tired, Mata was playing as the deepest in the front three roughly where Oscar is now and getting similar returns.

Has anyone looked at Hernandez's goals/assists/minutes compared to RVP? If Mancini were the Man Utd manager people would be going mental at him for not playing Hernandez.

Also, Cazorla's dip in stats has coincided with the losses of Diaby and Gibbs?

So basically Cazorla creates more at home and shoots more away, and both creation and threat have fallen in the last three gameweeks. He's playing at home next in a tough fixture and Walcott might be the man involved.

Cazorla has also been involved in only 2 of the last 9 Arsenal goals, with no assists.

Plus in the 3 games when Arsenal succeeded up front (more than 2 goals scored) he has only been involved in 2 of the 12 goals.

    I'm almost convinced to sell.

    Quick question:

Not being able to leave the house, I asked my dad to put an international bet on for me today on his way home from work. One of the games was Russia v USA. Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't that finished and all by 12 noon? I had Russia to win but the bet was put on at 2.15, so will that team just be void? Or will the whole bet be gone?

Thanks for the tables etc yesterday. Helped me A LOT in making some decsions. I just need to pray Hangeland doesn't fall this week. He's on 95% atm, but I could do with saving the transfer this week.

          Good - if nervous.

I have adopted a policy of preserving or increasing my team value - and so far it has paid off - but I have been lucky with some of my hits. Cross about the Lukaku move, which I should have checked.

did you get him in around the same time as the ape? He was talking about getting him in, and I warned him he was due to fall, so waiting was a good idea.

I have been caught out by a couple of unexpected price drops in the past that have caught me out and cost me value. Don't want to carry Brede if he's gonna drop, but i want to play him this week as my other options are Huth or Clyne.

ouch, yeah that is bad scouting, VERY unlike you

Not playing both as I have Baines and Rafa. if I'm not playing him this week I may as well just sell him. ATM I'm starting him with my bench order being Huth, Kebe, Clyne
