Moneyball – Adel Taarabt

Filed under: Members - Posted by: Chris Glover

The key factor for a player to appear in this series is to have a visible (or at least perceived) flaw which we believe is either over-emphasised or could end in the coming weeks. We’ve highlighted Jason Puncheon who lacked guaranteed minutes but has shone since securing his place in the Southampton first team. Leon Osman’s ‘flaw’ is simply being unfashionable in a side full of more exciting options, yet he is nipping at the heels of the more fancied Steven Pienaar and even Nikica Jelavic in total points.

This week’s player has a number of such flaws, though most of them are of no concern to us. Adel Taarabt is the prototypical mercurial talent; equally happy playing the part of a sublime match winner as that of frustrating prospect, doomed to never align his end product with his obvious talent.

  1. Pick one keeper and three defenders.

    Begovic/Jussi
    Cameron/Ceullar/Demel/Baird/Enrique

    1. Pick your own, it's not like Defs going to make you season. Why don't you suggest a lot and we coment?

      1. Stop being so lazy and just pick them for me.

  2. Good to go?

    Jaaskelainen
    Baines, Rafael, Enrique
    Bale, Mata, Fellani, Michu
    RVP (c), Suarez (vc), Berbatov

    (Begovic, Puncheon, Davies, Clyne)

    1. Nice team. Fancy swapping?

      1. In fact, how is this team even affordable?!

      2. You take the team, I'll take the beard

        1. but yes, good to go

  3. Michael Owen could start this weekend with news of a Crouch inj doubt. Good scoring record at the Hawthorns which include a 4 goal performance as well as his 100th goal. Looking to be the only player in the world to give him the armband this weekend. Good luck to the rest of the world.

    1. Ha! I'd say Jerome/Jones have earned themselves a starting place to be honest

  4. Begovic (Jussi)

    Rafael Huth Reid (Gorkks, Clyne)

Silva Bale (vc) Sessegnon Ramirez (Sterling)

    RVP (c) Ba Berbatov

2 questions, Bego or Jussi? and Sterling over Sess or Ramirez?

    1. Jussi. Benitez................................................................................................

      Sterling over those yes.

  5. I'm sorry, but I really don't like this article. I may well be wrong - but it all looks like smoke and mirrors to me ... :-(

    1. Adel has done nothing, I agree. It's probably the Harry factor.

      1. I'll want the brown envelope first ... :-)

        1. Brown envelope?

  6. Which two should I play?

    Begovic(wba) or Green(AVL)

    and

    Fletcher(nor) or Michu(ars)

    Cheers! :)

    1. Bego for sure, flip a coin on #2

      1. Bego and mighty michu

    2. Green and Michu. Is Cesar out?

        1. May as well give Green a run out then. WBA will score.

    3. You actually have Green?

      1. Indeed, have had him from the beginning when QPR was hyped up :P

  7. Through GW6-14 Baines' fixtures were SOT wig qpr LIV ful SUN rdg NOR ARS Baines scored 24 points in 9 games, or a massive 2.7 PPG in those fixtures. 34 defenders outscored him in those 9 weeks, and 4 defenders scored the same amount of points (Clark, McCartney, Tomkins - all with 7 starts, and Ben Davies who is 4.0). When you sort into Value (form) he is the equal 102nd outfield player.

  8. Rafael to Enrique and tevez to Suarez?

    Here's current team;

    Fed/jaask
    Fonte, Davies, McCartney, jevans, rafael
    Mata, bale, fellaini, sess, puncheon
    Rvp, berba, tevez

    Yes or no??

    1. I think its a good more especially that u have Jevans. I would eventually get Silva for Mata to get City coverage if you get rid of Tevez

  9. nooooooooooooooo i'm short of 0.1m to do Gorkss/Nelsen>Nastasicc. any other good CS potential player ?

  10. Enrique in his last 3 - 24
    Baines in his last 9 - 24

Come on, more Baines > Enrique transfers.

    1. not sure what youre trying to do

  11. Suarez or Bale or RvP as a capt??

    1. The million dollar question

      1. Suarez for me. Bale always burns me. Rvp is a pretty safe bet anytime

  12. Rumoured Liverpool team for any interested parties (i.e. Enrique owners):

Reina, Johnson, Agger, Skrtel, Enrique, Lucas, Allen, Gerrard, Sterling, Shelvey, Suarez

    1. Enrique back at LB then..?

      1. If that is the team (Probably isn't), then yes Enrique LB.

  13. Last call: :)

    Bego rudy
    Baines rafael simpson (gorks cuellar)
    Mata bale sterling fellaini (puncheon)
    Rvp suarez berba

    0 in the bank, 1FT

    A mata to walcott
    B baines to jose enrique
    C both, -4

  14. Best Guthrie replacement besides Puncheon?

  15. Gents, who to bench Puncheon or Sterling? It's been bugging me all afternoon

    1. are you brain dead?

      1. Lol, no!

  16. Who's bringing in Tara-bat?

  17. My team
    Raphael spiegel
    enrique cuellar nastasic
    silva sessegnon taraabt sterling
    Rvp Suarez(c) Fletcher

    So what you guys think?
