While I was “driving home for Christmas”, Granville was recovering from a breathless double Gameweek that left him just above the average; his humble target achieved, he’s now got to patch up his injury ravaged squad and contend with all my crazy Wildcard talk.

Wayne Rooney’s form is the catalyst for such a revolution in my squad, as we discuss the benefits of doubling up on the United men up top. There’s the usual foray into the transfer market with “all board”, the preview of the weekend fixtures and the latest attempt to revive the corpse of the ScoutCatst team: Granville is the surgeon this week and he’s spending some points.

Do we think Defoe is going to be nailed on for the next month or so and play WITH Adebayor, or is he likely to be rotated and rested a bit?

      Wessex Warrior says:

Impossible to tell with AVB. My impression is he liked to play a 4-3-3 like Barcelona, with a high defensive line, and didn’t like 4-4-2. Then Adebayor came back and he came under pressure from supporters not to drop Defoe. AND the 4-4-2 has been working with Defoe scoring goals.

But if he does go 4-4-2 and play them both it means Bale is starting a bit deeper as no longer part of a front three

Good summary. It’s not quite the Barca model he’s after but still 4-4-2 isn’t ideologically where he wants to be.

        Stinkfly says:

I want some Spurs cover, and drafting Bale back in will prove difficult cash-wise, plus his injury doubt, so I am considering Defoe as my Spurs cover through to the Jan WC.

The move would be Fletcher —> Defoe.

Yes, Enrique is a doubt. You play McAuley, Cuellar you might want to play next week before getting rid, same goes for Fonte. So I would say priority is to get out Gorkss, who might not start again for a while with both Morrison, Mariappa and Pearce before him in the pecking order.

Bowstring92 - Torino FC representing from Dublin says:

I’m torn between RVP and Suarez for captain.

United have a low-scoring record against Sunderland, and Rooney’s form could see him nick the points away from RVP. However with Bardsley,Rose and Johnson doubts, it could be to United’s advantage. Sunderland have conceded 21 goals, 11 of them coming from away games – meaning they either tighten up on the road, or they’re poor at home.

Suarez has form and everything seems to go through him during the game. If Sterling is benched (as suspected) it might do wonders for him having other in-form and more experienced players on the wing like Cole (questionably) and Shelvey. Villa have conceded 23 goals, 15 of these in away games.
