Possibly the most un-Christmas-like Christmas Podcast we’ve ever recorded, thanks mainly to Granville being banned from editing in the entire MP3 of Dean Martin’s “Let it Snow” but also because neither of us had time to sort our pressies. To be fair, I’m surprised that Granville felt an ounce Christmas spirit after Santi’s showing at Reading opened up a 40-point “chasm” in our min-league. Do I have it all wrapped up already?

To his credit, my co-host takes it all on his bearded chin, joining me to discuss the Felliani fallout, its impact on the transfer trends in “all aboard”, a preview of the weekend fixtures and provided his assistance in the management of the ScoutCast team: an outfit which plundered no less than 80 points thanks to Santi’s haul and Reading’s bulging net.

Unitie the bow and rip this one open via this link, or stream the merriment via the player below…

I really wanted Mata in my team this week but opted for Silva instead – I think there’ll be a few goals in that Chelsea/Villa game….would have to downgrade Enrique or Berbs to a much cheaper equivalent and take a 4 point hit to do it. Decisions, decisions…

        James says:

I dont think he will be rested – Villa may win if Rafa rests Mata. He was subbed at the end of the match with the weekend fixture in mind. He was instrumental in the Chelsea comeback. I think Chelsea will be on a high after scoring 5 goals.

Mata is my captain this week. He was ELECTRIC last night.

Just to add to my earlier post. My cup opponent hasn’t touched his team since GW6 and I’d probably put him as favourite in our tie. The only player we have the same is Silva. Whatcha reckon?

ME: Jaask, Enrique, Cuellar, Clyne, Yaya, Walcott, Sess, RVP(c), Suarez, Ba
HIM: Cech, Ivanovic, Walker, Skrtel, McAuley, Bale, Duff, Tevez, Pog, Torres(c)

This seems like a template team all round, since dead teams seem to have alot of Che and City players. I got a guy ranked 1000 000 with Yaya, Clichy, Tevez(C) Mata and a Javier Hernandez, but also Fella, Barfa to make it look a bit better.

Not a bad team considering it has been gathering dust. His midfield looks weaker than yours and that, together with the (c) will hopefully swing it for you.

However, If Tevez (plays) & Torres both click, you could be knackered.

But I would have to get Cazorla back for DGW! Could use WC to setup the team though. Hmm.

Then again, there’s a reason most people have been thinking about shipping Cazorla (until this GW). He has been playing deep this season, assisting the assister, etc. but if Theo continues to play and stretch the defence I think he can an excellent choice.

Yeah, it’s only Demel and Cazorla really. I got a big strikeforce, should be fine one week without a heavy-hitter playing in the mid. Enrique could go if he still isn’t fit, Kanu is a bit scary to have considering Christmas rotation, looking to do Kanu -> Nolan after the blank.

Yeah, depends on if Sterling is rested or not. If he’s rested, I won’t get him out, if not it’s definitely something to consider. But not too many good options, considering I need to save enough to do Kanu -> Nolan.

He’s got really good stats, that’s why I got him in. But then Kebe got back, bleh. Hopefully he’ll nail down the start, at the very least he’ll get some starts over Christmas with rotation, they could coincide with the fixtures I want him to play. But it’s a risk, of course.

The fact that Benitez substituted him off at the 85th minute shows Mata has a part to play this weekend. Although that is not guaranteed but more of the likelihood of things. I reckon that if Benitez decides that Mata is to be rested, he should have gone on and played him full 90 minutes instead.

    - Tevez has way more potential to explode then silva and they cost the same

Well, if you have the funding to bale or Silva, Yaya shouldn’t be an option for long term: he scores a couple of goals each season, but is most of the time he’s more like Joe Allen for Liverpool and Britton for Swansea: Good, har working players, but not in a position to score much fantasy points regulary.

Silva and Bale, on the other hand, we know their potential…
have both, but Bale has been most consistent this year and has a fantastic role in his team and explosivity. He’s involved in every game and always play.
