Merry Christmas From Fantasy Football Scout!

On this crispy Tuesday morning, I’d like to extend a very Merry Christmas from myself and all of those involved in Fantasy Football Scout! Yes it even calls for the use of a cheesy exclamation mark (shudder). Seriously though, best wishes to you all and your families.

Of course, I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank-you for your superb support over the past year, although I’ll save the sentimental stuff and yearly round-up for the New Year message.

For now, I’ll leave you with some exciting news – as we prepare two new key features to be rolled out in just over a week, in preparation for the January Wildcards. Later today we’ll be previewing one of those features, a Fantasy Football Scout community ranking table that will have a version available for members and non-members alike. Come back to us once the Queen has done with her message later today. Merry Christmas!

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Begovic
    Huth Enrique Clyne
    Michu Sterling Puncheon Mata
    RVP(C) Tevez Berbatov(V)

    Federici Cazorla Sagna Demel

    0.2 in the bank, 1 FT.

    I have a feeling that at least one of my players won`t start tomorrow.
    Which transfer would you make?

    A) Demel -> Nelsen
    B) Demel -> Davies
    C) Cazorla -> Bale
    D) Sagna -> max. 5.3 defender

    Berbatov's Boxing day scores aren't just suggesting that he's must have tomorrow, but also that RVP and Rooney surely won't both play.

    Berba was a sub in the last couple of seasons at United, so SAF obviously likes to mix it up a bit on Boxing day.

      Out of the two can see Rooney vein the one who drops to the bench, he was very poor vs the Swans

          Both RVP and Rooney owner here 🙂
          I'll be honestly surprised if either is rested tomorrow.
          Neither ManU are so powerful, nor is their position or are their rivals giving SAF reason to feel sinisterly complacent.

      Yes, but Berb's parameters at ManU were never the same scale as those of van Persie.
      So it is hard to compare their roles because they are completely different species.

        You're missing the point. Berbs was a sub, so it's the same as if Chicharito or Welbeck would play this season on Boxing day.

          Ok, I get it. But my point is that now you have someone like van Persie whom you didn't have in the days of Berbatov. Back then there was nobody more crucial than Rooney. Now obviously there is.
          Talking of Rooney, I still can't believe SAF may rest him if he has a chance to extend the lead.

          ah but there is another factor

          Jol admitted yesterday that Fulham have been poor and he felt it was because he hasn't been allowing his best player (Berba) to get further up the pitch and influence the attack more. He said he would rectify this as he needed Berba high up the pitch, not always dropping deep as he isn't getting service

          Also, Sidwell, Diarra and Kaca are all available. Baird and Karagounis got over-run by Liverpool, Diarra and Sidwell are much more mobile

    As a Stoke fan, I obviously like to talk about my team a lot, but I thought I'd just give you a little insight into our perspective on our style of play and season so far. Personally, I think the loud minority of Stoke fans aren't happy with the style and are making their voices heard on forums and bulletins alike. However, I think they'd even admit to being more than satisfied with the results this season so far.

    I can't think off the top of my head of one result which has been 'disappointing'. I mean, you could point to the game on the opening day of the season where we went 1-0 up at Reading only to be pegged back in the final minute of the game, but at the time that was deemed a tough game away at a side that were solid in the Championship and had the backing of the fans for their first home PL fixture in a couple of years.

    Since then, we have lost only 3 league games (only 2 teams have lost fewer), are unbeaten at home (only one other team can say this) and have conceded the least number of goals in the league, incredible for a club of our stature. Not only that, we have gone on the longest unbeaten run (8) since 1974 and have one of the best midfielders, in Steven N'Zonzi, that I have ever seen at the club and has been at the club since Sammy McIlroy in the 80's.

    It's quite frustrating when we manage to hold sides like Spurs away from home and still get ridiculed for not playing football and being testament to a dull affair. Fair enough, but we are Stoke City, we're not a Champions League club and never will be. We were never amazing to start with before becoming rubbish. It's media driven propaganda like this that brainwashes fans into believing that we're a lot worse than we are. I'm not going to deny that we're a boring team to watch, as a lot of our games are, but it's a little disconcerting when you see people like Hansen and Lawrenson bang on about the art of defending when it's done wrongly, yet when it's done right (i.e. in Stoke's case), they say it's dull and unenjoyable.

    That's why I've a lot of time for Neville and his outstanding analysis of the game and punditry. There's not been a more avid banger of the Stoke drum than him, a person who actually knows what he's talking about and says things that your average punter off the street doesn't.

    So in sum, we are Stoke and we've had a cracking 2012. Football is a sport, not an entertainment and the purpose of a sport is to get results. We do that and it's great to see!

        Absolutely. Walter Smith did a similar thing with Rangers (albeit they were probably more boring to watch in the process) and got to the final of the UEFA Cup, held Barça to 0-0, etc. If you don't have the money or resources I don't see a problem!! A lot of people gave Smith grief for that, but what he did was very commendable indeed!!!

      a very good post, very well written, and preferable to anything Needlevor has produced. Thank you very much. Doubling or even tripling on Stoke's defence looks the way forward. i do like N'Zonzi, though not as an FPL pick

      Another thought of mine, we've seen plenty of clubs (Hull, Bolton under Coyle, Wigas, Blackpool) try and play the way people think the game should be played, and put of those only Wigan have survived. No disrespect intended here, but for a club the size of Stoke, the fans should be happy with being an established PL side, and being a club no one wants to go to away. In that time you've also reached an FA Cup final (though I think the occasion got to the players who didn't do themselves justice IMO) and improved the squad every year. Pulis deserves more credit than he gets. So to does Peter Coates, who doesn't throw money around, but is not afraid to back his manager either

      Interesting. Didn't realise Nzonzi could be so crucial, usually there are other names that spring to mind of a non-Stoke supporter. There are the defenders with their reputation or Bego.
      Ok, but I think lots of supporters from other teams would envy Stoke on their home form and attitude reputation.

    United front line on boxing day......

    Dropping Rooney after one bad game is a Manchini response, Fergie has better man management skills than Manchini.

    If a united player plays badly out of character or has an off game fergie will play him in and support that player in a preferred position and gives them a chance to boost their confidence. Manchini will punish and relegate to the bench and kick the player when he's down publicly.

    Non Rooney owner, but rest aside I think Rooney will start, dropping or rotating him after a bad game won't happen unless he's tired which I don't think he is.

      Exactly.
      Not a ManU supporter but a Rooney and van Perplexie owner.

      Fergie never drops anyone who plays bad especially Rooney!! He knows it's a must win game and this part of the season is the toughest and to try and extend the lead he WILL put his best players on the pitch even if he's had a bad game! Rooney has been magnificent after returning from injury except for Swansea.
      There's no point Fergie will drop him. He's still my FPL captain.

    Everybody keeps saying C RVP over michu, because RVP is mr.reliable.

    RVP 118 points, Michu 117 pts no rotation risk.

    Just sayin.

    Michu C for me.

    Is it worth buying Van Persie although he's 13.9, could be rested and is one yellow card (And Krul in goal.. remember last season?) away from getting a suspension?
