The Big Numbers – Gameweek 27

With tomorrow night’s Upton Park clash to come, our ICT Index rankings are currently dominated by two Spanish playmakers as both Santi Cazorla and David Silva lead the way off the back of their match-winning contributions. With two-goal strikers Romelu Lukaku and Arouna Kone also pressing for recognition, our rankings reflect a Gameweek where the differential came good, leaving established Fantasy favourites falling short.

Our members can examine the numbers behind the Gameweek in full via the members area tables and match dashboards and, as always, we’ve picked out a selection of stats that have caught our eye…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    GW 28 plans :

    1. Bench RvP and do JCole>Michu..
    2. Find a replacement for RvP..(any1 particular?? already have Studge and Lambert) and bench JCole
    3. Stick with RvP and go ahead with the subs JCole Harte and Martin.. 🙁

which is better.. I think 1 is better..

Haha! Confidence we will win! Just wont toucvh our defense at the moment. Saying that, Debuchy did impress me yesterday...

Santon has the better attacking stats if you were to pick a Newcastle defender.

I will probably do Fellaini > Sissoko next week.

Perhaps. We don't know what will happen though realistically and buying a defender from a team with a terrible defence due to a potential improvement in attacking output seems risky.

There's much talk over whether those of us taking rvp out temporarily can later afford to get him back coz ,for instance, his price doesn't fall enough.

There's less talk over the potential rise of the player you temporarily get in though, which can help bridge that gap significantly.

    I'm thinking Lambert for instance

There is indeed a rule something regarding that you must play your best team week in week defined by the FA. This rule comes much more into effect towards the last few games of the season.

For eg-: Assume United have wrapped up their league by gw36. But then they supposedly play a team fighting relegation, take QPR for eg, and they end up playing their second string side which gives QPR the advantage and the desperately needed win. This win propelled them up the ranking, just over another club i.e. Aston Villa.
Aston Villa would then blame United for fielding their second string as their sole reason of relegation causing them losses in millions of dollars, thus the rule comes in effect.

Of course, there is no way your best team can be defined on paper, and no one really plays much attention to this rule. Unless of course, it's me, who write a needless paragraph explaining my understanding of the rule. 😛

Does it have something to do with precaution againsts match-fixing?

Imagine say Buttner knowing he couldnt actually start because of an FA ruling!

It's a rule on paper....Mysterious injury occurs to Evra or you say Buttner is looking really sharp in training, and we wanted to give him a run in the first 11 etc. Managers never stop because of this rule.

But do realize that there is a reason all the games are played at the same time in the last gameweek of the season. Results of some games, have direct consequences on other team's fortunes.

If I was a fan of Aston Villa (in reference to my above example), I would be devastated to reach the Championship, just because Fergie thought he would play an under 23 team.

I dont think this rule can be enforced properly for these reasons ie whose to say what the best team is.

I think it was put in more as a lip service type of ruling after Warnocks rant a few years back when Sheff Utd went down

I did that say in the last para, that this rule can never be defined properly. But towards the end of the season you will hear other managers saying something to this affect "We fully trust Sir Alex to field his best team against QPR and be in compliant with the FA Rules and Policy." I do remember that he fielded a much weakened side two years back, but still won. (CL final was in a few days)

Yeah sorry, meant to put "I agree" at the top there!

Yep, spot on. I remember that as well. It's one of those scenarios where someone is always going to end up blaming something else other than their teams performance over the entire season.

Alan Brazil said the other day that Warnocks rant still makes him laugh because it's not just one game that shapes your season etc etc

It's a stupid rule...Any team who is so far ahead that they can field a second eleven have earned the right....As for the clubs on the receiving end it's tough s***, you shouldn't have gotten yourself into that position and they would be paying the penalty for that....

Why couldn't the deadline be 30 mins prior to kick-off on Saturday? Honestly, I expect RvP to feature against Norwich. I think he might even start.

My front eight for the weekend is:

Bale (ARS) - Walcott (tot) - Sissoko (swa) - Michu (NEW) - Fellaini (REA)
Cisse (swa) - Kone (LIV) - RvP (NOR)

If I knew RvP wasn't starting I would definitely bench him, but now I'm thinking Sissoko/Cisse. The risk of benching RvP is just to big.

So, given that one of the main reasons to be selling RVP is the likely blank in GW29, it would make no sense to bring in a player whose fixture is also under threat. That leaves players from Villa, Liverpool, Newcastle, Norwich, QPR, Reading, Southampton, Stoke, Sunderland, Swansea, Spurs and WBA.

Given the way the fixtures fall and the paucity of attacking talent from many of those teams it appears the only real options are Suarez, Cisse and Lambert.

Can't believe I'm looking to sell the most expensive player in the game and I have so few options worth considering!

(Obviously I'm waiting for now in the hope we hear more about the fixture situation)

Got on board with Sissoko last week. At one stage I was considering Fletcher -> Cisse as my second transfer but played safe and went Bertrand -> JEvans. Still kind of makes sense as Bertrand was a deadweight but still wish I'd had the balls for more flair!

        Two reasons:

1 - I have Fletcher currently and I was being a bit selfish and thinking primarily of my team.

Lambert would come into my team for the long-term potentially whereas Suarez would be a short-term punt until I got RVP back.

It depends on your team and plans for after the DGW! RVP > Lambert gives you the choice between Fletcher or Lambert > RVP in GW30

That's true, of course I may not want RVP back - if Man City screw up the title could be in the bag and RVP rotation could become a real threat. I also have my wildcard to play at some point.

Sturridge - mainly because I have Sturridge currently and I was being a bit selfish and thinking primarily of my team but yeah, for those with Suarez but no Sturridge that's an option.

Benteke - next fixture is Man City and as impressive as Benteke has been, Aston Villa really do blow at the moment and I can't see him getting anything.

Pretty certain I'm going out of the FPL cup to Doosra. Thought I had a good chance after Saturday with
    Me: Mata, Puncheon, Clyne, O'Brien
Doosra: 4 points + BAE (+now 1 bonus for McAuley)
But sadly Mata and Puncheon screwed me so I've now got to hope O-Brien outscores BAE by 2 points to draw or 3 to win...
