Sky Sports Focus

Filed under: Fantasy Football Games - Posted by: Mark

Once again the topsy-turvy battle at the summit of the Sky Sports Scout League continues with another turnaround. With the finishing line in sight, we look at the current cream of the crop, examine the transfer market trends of the past week and sneak our head around the door of the Fantasy Football Club dressing room…

The Scout League

Chris Pearce is the new leader of the Scout League. Having climbed to second last week, he topples Simon Davies’ “Nags Head Rovers” lineup to claim a ten-point lead over Paul McAnulty’s “Housewives Favourite” squad. Lewis Nicklen’s “Dreamboat” sit in fourth, while Pascal Evans’ has two teams sit in fifth and sixth respectively.

Our man Chris is some way off the top prize, however, with Simon Ward still out in front, a hefty 92 points ahead of the leading Scout contender in the race for the £25k top prize. With six managers in the top 20, the community’s Private League is still out on top but the lead is not as comfortable as it was: there’s only seven points between us and our nearest rival now.

A reminder that if you’re playing the Sky Sports game and have yet to join our league, you can sign up to the FFScout League with this Pin: 8004519. We have a home cinema system, worth £600, available to the winner.

Market Trends

The stunning hat-trick at Wigan not surprisingly lifted the profile of Luis Suarez and ensured that, after suffering an ownership loss last week, he’s back on the climb this time around. Over 40% of the transfers made this week saw the Uruguayan come into squads. Suarez is now well out in front on the value for money stakes when it comes to forwards, fetching 22.8 points per million, compared to Rickie Lambert’s 20.6.

As always, Robin Van Persie’s stock remains volatile and, with Suarez subject to so many acquisitions, it appears that the Dutchman has suffered again. He was transferred out as part of 40% of transfers this week, with only 10% seeing him transferred in – a big swing in ownership. Absent this weekend of course, the trade has been mirrored in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game where Van Persie has lost over 50,000 owners this week – easily the most transferred out forward on show. Despite the losses, Van Persie remains the most owned player in the Sky Sports game with over 47% of managers including him in their squads – in the FPL, that figure stands at just over 39%.

As expected, Gareth Bale’s stock remains strong with his run of goals continuing: he’s been party to over 30% of the transfers made in the last seven days – his ownership has climbed from 17% to just under 19% in the last week.

Defensively, it’s City pairing, Joe Hart and Pablo Zabaleta that are the big movers. They have benefited from a recent run of six clean sheets in eight by picking up further owners off the back of the win and shut-out at Villa on Monday night; combined, they have been part of over 43% of the transfers in made this week, despite facing a blank this weekend.

The Fantasy Football Club – Tonight 10pm

It’s a special night for the Fantasy Football Club as Noel Gallagher shuffles into the dressing room to talk all things City. It will be interesting to see if he feels the title race is still on. Join Noel, with Fenners and Merse from 10pm tonight on Sky Sports one, or catch the repeat on Sky Sports two tomorrow morning at 9am.

  1. Can anyone see the reading-villa game finish with 0-0 ?

    1. More like 2-2

      1. No trannies?

    2. No way, as poor as they are going forward, they are even worse defending.

    3. I can see it starting 0-0

    4. Maybe - they're both gonna be scared to lose the game

    5. If you blind folded the field players but not the keepers.

    6. No I think there will be goals. How much of that is just hope I'm not sure.

  2. advice for next gw? got 1 freebie

Cuellar probably wont play as well

    Begovic
    Cuellar | Davies | Hill | Martin
    Bale | Michu | Puncheon
    RVP [x] | Benteke | Suarez

    Bunn, Evans [x], Walcott [x], Mata [x]

  3. Really need some help, not sure whether to keep this weeks starting team the same or take a -4 hit to change Noble:

    Bunn
    Martin, Shaw, Demel, Harte
    Bale, Michu, Sissoko
    Suarez, Lukaku, Lambert

Currently have 8.4M in my bank, but would quite like to bring RVP back in for Lambert next week
Any help would be much appreciated!

    1. save FT

      1. Already used my FT to take out Giroud for Lukakakaka

  4. Kone is an interesting one, but it seems hard to justify a striker spot on him when Lukaku is the same price and Remy is cheaper

    1. Look at the ticker. Kone(30-33) then Lukaka(34-37)

  5. So is the general consensus taking a points hit is worth it? Even for a defender?

    1. I don't think so

  6. What do people think of Hoillet, thinking of changing Noble for a freebie to get 11 out

    1. This is the trouble with short weeks. People suddenly get insane ideas about players they wouldn't look at before.

  7. ALF is guaranteed a start this week then surely?

    1. Assume so

      1. I think I might go for him over Benteke

        1. Im considering it. All the DGWers I want are midfielder so being able to upgrade Kebe would be useful

          1. Yeah I'll be sticking to 3-5-2 for the future so having 3 expensive strikers will be very limiting or require a hit to remedy

    2. Brian Mcdermott is a tinkerer, I'd say he's 99% gonna play but then wouldn't be surprised if he rolled out Hunt and Roberts

  8. Asked this earlier but I'll ask again, Evans to Enrique for free seem alright?

    1. yep

    2. Sure. Season keeper.

  9. FISO dont update...why??

      1. its been facked since wednesday apparently

    1. It's broken. Server down. They are working on it. Until it's fixed, use totalfpl pricechanges.

  10. Can Bale rise 0.1 or has he already gone up 0.3?

7 players set to be over 100% tonight:
Bale, Suarez, Michu, Benteke, Sissoko, Lambert, Enrique

    1. lukak?

  11. Scout Picks:

    Bunn

    Davies, Harte, Wilson

    Bale, Michu,

    Suarez, Lambert

    No other players.

    1. haha

  12. Jason Roberts tweets that he's ruled out for the season

    1. I follow him on twitter, seems like he spent the vast majority of the season in an ice bath. No wonder he's ruled out, poor lad probably has pneumonia :)

    2. 8O

look at my reply to Beric above

  13. 6 scout picks

  14. Guys did Mata-Sissoko (free) Should I do Fletcher - Benteke/Remy/Lukaku -4 YAY OR NAY? :)

    1. Nay

    2. Benteke if you want to captain him maybe. marginal decision.

  15. http://i.imgur.com/8w905HR.png

    A)take a hit to do Pog>Weimann
    B)take a hit to do Pog>LeFondre
    C)do nothing

    1. pls respond

    2. A imo. You need another blanker

    3. A imo. You need another non blanker

  16. Only 4 of the scout picks

  17. A little help Sir's,

Who are the midfield players more likely to rise today/tonight?

  18. Is an 8 point hit too much? It would allow me to field 9 players

    De Gea Federici
    Sagna Demel Harte Luiz Enrique
    Mata Bale Walcott Puncheon Taraabt
    Lambert Sturridge RVP

    Federici -> Elliot
    Demel -> Samba
    Taraabt-> Sissoko

They all look good transfers for the rest of the season.

    What do you think?

    1. Team for the GW would be:-

      Elliot
      Harte Enrique Samba
      Bale Puncheon Sissoko
      Lambert Sturridge

  19. Noble --> Snodgrass for -4 hit?

Already starting Bunn, Martin and Lambert

    1. Yes if its a season keeper.

    2. anyone else? need afew more opinions

    3. No, a hit this week will hurt you.he's in decent form but not a season keeper imo

  20. I got this feeling Liverpool - Spurs will be low scoring. Might take a little punt: Benteke (C)

“I am happy with the way I’ve started, but on the other hand, I should have scored four or five more, so that’s something for me to work on.”

Robin Van Persie talks about his early form at United ahead of his first Manchester derby
