Manchester United have this morning confirmed the departure of manager David Moyes. After heavy speculation over the last 24 hours, the Scotsman has paid the price for a dire run of results which sees the club sit in seventh place in the Premier League with just four matches remaining:

Sunday’s loss to former club Everton was the eleventh time the champions have tasted defeat in a season that has seen Moyes’ side break records for all the wrong reasons. Whilst United fans will be looking for a fresh start next term, Fantasy managers have more pressing matters on their minds, with the Red Devils set to play three times at Old Trafford in the next two Gameweeks.

Under Moyes, United have won just seven of their 16 home fixtures and scored a mere 22 times – fewer than Stoke and West Ham, for example – but with Norwich, Sunderland and Hull still set to make their way to Old Trafford, they have a chance to finish the season with a flourish.

Our faith in the likes of Wayne Rooney and Juan Mata now looks set to take a turn for the better in light of this breaking news, as the Red Devils attempt to put their toils behind them. It’s believed Ryan Giggs has been placed in temporary charge of first-team affairs as the Old Trafford board looks to quickly draw a line under the unsuccessful tenure of Sir Alex Ferguson’s hand-picked successor, with the likes of Jurgen Klopp, Louis Van Gaal, Laurent Blanc and Carlo Ancelotti all amongst the bookies’ early favourites to take the helm.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

I know there's been some speculation of Lennon fancying a move to England and maybe reuniting with Gary Hooper at Norwich, which in turn could open a possible move back to his native Glasgow for Moyes.

I think even he couldn't fail in the one team league.

Decent shout, Moyes could do really really well there actually, not much expectation, around mid table, he could bring them up to where he had everton and he'd have investment..

They're used to wasting money anyway so he might even be able to bring Fellaini with him 😆

As a Sunderland fan, I'm hoping this doesn't happen as I think he'll do a good job at a mid-level club.

Look at Ashley's record of appointing managers, though: Keegan, Kinnear, Shearer, Hughton, Pardew. There are no examples of him appointing a manager that anyone else might conceivably want. Moyes seems out of step with that policy.

I didn't think his career was ruined, but I think people hold him in less regard than they did before he went to United, so I don't know if he'd get a top 5 team at the moment, might have to go down to Newcastle or someone like that to rebuild his reputation a small bit.

I don't disagree, he has rebuilt his reputation no doubt and going abroad and being successful earns much respect, brave thing to do. But, can Moyes do the same? i.e. the only chance I can see for him now of being in charge of a team fighting for a Champs League place or even more remotely a title winning side, is to get a mid-table team there himself. I can't see him doing it imo. Would like to be proven wrong though, as I like the guy.

No revisionism here. I really thought he would be the kind of steady hand United needed for the transition.

Moyes did a terrific job at Everton. From relegation to champions league qualification in 3 years. He was lined up for the United job for quite a few years, so it wasn't a big surprise he got the job. Huge surprise to me how spectacularly he failed. Still though there are other mitigating circumstances that still need resolving.

In terms of Fantasy football this is very exciting

I wonder what this will mean for the current first 11 and how they will be played. It also means the new manager will be spending big bucks on new mids and defenders

      Yes it is.

Let's just deal with the remaining fixtures of NOR/SUN/HULL. Will Giggs really be able to turn then around for the next 3? Is Rooney suddenly going to be scoring for fun?

Anyone care to write a hot topic?

Rooney RVP Mata. So slow, all new signings need to be fast to cover up for whichever ones of those they keep.

Don't think so, simply because there are better goal scoring mids in the prem. He'll be a hell of a player but it'll be more like a previous years Silva type, e.g performing great in real life and not really reflecting on fpl, a steady stream of assists

United don't have the players to implement Martinez's style, their mids aren't dynamic enough, attacking enough, or creative enough.

Plus, Evra and Rafael aren't exactly Baines and Coleman.

Too much of an overhaul is needed to completely change how the team play football too, United have always been a counter attacking and direct team, Martinez is slightly more tiki taka keeping possession.

I think Martinez is one of the best managers in the league and I'd hate to see him at United, I'd like to see Guus Hiddink for a season there 😎 haha

Klopp would be ideal but it won't happen..
