After analysing the Most Improved forwards of 2013/14 in accordance with our KPI (Key Performance Indicators) members tables, we now cast an eye over those strikers who suffered a drop in frequency across a number of attacking areas:

For the unfamiliar, these Key Performers Indicator (KPI) tables are designed to use a series of key stats to allow our members to track form or change in player performance. By tracking the frequency of certain key statistics and comparing over two separate periods of time, we can ascertain each player’s form, whether it be an improvement or decrease in displays on the pitch. As mentioned in last summer’s introductory article, we’ve rolled out a preview movie which shows just how to get the best out of the KPI tables.

For the purpose of this series of articles, we analyse the previous two seasons as a means of comparison. The players featured must have started at least 10 league games and are listed according to frequency of goals on target.

    repost from last article:

the McD's game has been an example of what happens when you try to reward players for more things and make more players viable fantasy options

crazy when defenders on the losing team can score as much or more than a goal scorer from the winning team

I much prefer the simple scoring system of fpl. just wish they'd award keepers a bit more for saves (say 1pt per two saves)

McD's is awarding too many save points but i'd like to see a balance between that and what fpl has been awarding.

Would actually mean there are 2 trains of thought when choosing GKs, cheap and cheerful save points, or the more expensive, less consistent CS route.

Might mean people actually consider transfers on their GKs too if correctly predicting a run of CSs is actually beneficial.

8pts for goal scored by defenders, 6pts for mid and 4pts for strikers should be followed. Make no sense to get attacking defenders if there is only 2pts difference in pts for defenders and forwards.
1pt per 2 saves for GK would be good too.

But too few of them. A midfielder creating 10 chances in match gets 4 points to be counted for baps. If one of these leads to a forward being fouled and thereafter converting the penalty, which happens to be also the winning goal, the forward gets about gazillion points and wins whole 3 baps, while we should all be sure who was the better player deserving the baps. 1 point accumulated for each chance created would be good.

Oh, I thought you were still talking about improving the fpl. Yeah, CDMM apparently had brought out a point about McD's. Players are still getting too few points from creating chances. Actually, they don't really get points from creating chances, but from delivering ball in the box, and need to accomplish that twice to get one point. Meanwhile, one blocked shot gets a defender 2 points, regardless of where and how good shot he blocks.

Re-post from previous article (as it took a while to write in the first place)

I was just thinking about how culpable the manager was for selecting the squad he did and trying to think who else he could have picked. I'm not saying all of those below would have been better than what he did pick but surely some would? Can anyone think of any that I have missed?

Defense: Miranda (Athletico Madrid), Filipe Luis(Athletico Madrid), Marquinhos (PSG),

Midfield: Philippe Coutinho (Liv), lucas Leiva (Liv), Lucas Moura (PSG), Rafinha (Bayern), Ganso (Sao Paulo), Diego (Fenerbache)

Fwd: Pato (Sao Paulo), Damiao (Santos), Kaka (AC Milan), Ronaldinho (Atletico Mineiro), Robinho (AC Milan),

Definitely better than what they actually had on bench.

But the bigger worry was going with an attack relying 100% on Neymar. Everybody else there was sub-standard. Even that Bernard guy, who actually seemed to be quite good, was physically just not up to that level.

Yes great spot, I couldn't remember his name but I knew the instant I read it. He does look a class act and one that could well have made a difference.

It will take a brave manager to change the philosophy of the Brazilian team as every time they try and go the beautiful game route the do dismally in tourneys and the only ones they have one recently have been playing dour pragmatic football. If they could get a balance of philosophy like the Germans have between pragmatism and flair they still have the players to be one of the best teams in the world imo

      It's 3:00AM my time. I can't wait either.

      I think I will do ... Hummels + Luiz >> Mascherano + Messi now.

I have been invited by a friend to the Puma launch tomorrow. Will be attending with my brother. Will try to take pics (although not sure if video allowed). Looking forward to it, never been to a launch before.

Which Man Utd players will you guys pick for their tasty opening fixtures? RVP seems like a must have and so does Mata, anyone else?

    Captain options for tonight (McDs).

Cillessen, De Vrij, Garay, Demi, Masch, Messi.

It's either Garay, Masch or Messi.

Masch the safe option. Scared to do Garay after last night. Messi for possible high score.

    Opinions?
