The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the  Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please encourage those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial lineups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

First up, I’ve decided to post my current lineup. I’ve opted for a squad that has a spread of money across the positions, with two rotating goalkeepers and a strong focus on the four to five teams I think are most likely to profit from goals and clean sheets. It also shows a strong bias towards those teams with favourable early fixtures and, hopefully, it’s set up to be flexible enough to make quick early repairs.

Guzan (Krul)

Terry Evans NTaylor (Wisdom, Duff)

Ramsey Hazard Mata Henderson (Albrighton)

Rooney Adebayor Dzeko

0.5m in the bank

My main deliberation surrounds whether to go with Diego Costa up front and and an 8.5 midfielder, probably Rahaeem Sterling, instead of my current selection of Emmanuel Adebayor and Eden Hazard. That gives me a Gameweek 2 option to possibly swap one of Jordan Henderson or Sterling for Gylfi Sigurdsson, although I’m happy to keep both those Liverpool midfielders if a transfer is urgently required elsewhere. I do feel that Hazard will be the top source of Chelsea points, however.

Alternatively, I could stick with Hazard and a 9.0 striker. Of this group, the main options seem to be Romelu Lukaku and Adebayor. This also gives me flexibility to hop on any emerging strikers who show promise for 8.5 or less. As you can see, I’m currently favouring this option.

Feel free to get stuck in with your feedback. We look forward to scanning your RMT’s throughout the day on this article.

Oh well if it's urgent 🙂

I'm not convinced Trippier is worth the money given Burnley's opening fixtures but you'll be a hero if he bags a couple of assists early on.

Your midfield is the absolute gold-plated luxury model (similar to my own) so naturally I love it.

I like 2/3 of your strikeforce but Zamora is more or less a dead spot in your team - can't see him getting more than brief cameo appearances. Could you squeeze the cash to upgrade him to a more likely starter - Bojan/Nugent or similar?

Overall I'd say you're reasonably well set, with mild concerns over your defence and how you'd cope if injuries struck.

you need to lose some weight from your middle. I don't think it's a great idea going in with shaw trip and lovren each week (the others won't play apart from wisdom, maybe , for a week or two). also shaw isn't a guaranteed starter with young vieing for his spot and doing well in preseason. trippier plays for burnley fgs and he plays che and mun in the first 3 weeks.

remy and zamora? no. out of those two I'd go austin

Nice team. I'd downgrade Shaw to Jones, and Lovren to someone like Ward/Caulker/Huth, to afford Zamora ---> Bojan. Looks good otherwise!

Pretty much 'template' which is to say 'very good'.

As above though I'm not sold on having Zamora in there, can you find the funds for a more guaranteed starter? Bartley might be going to give us an extra 4.0 defender - that could help a bit.

    I'm debating a 3-4-3 vs. 3-5-2, comments/feedback welcomed:

    Option 1
    Foster (Myhill)
    Coloccini, Mariappa, Cameron (Wisdom, Hooiveld)
    Sanchez, Hazard, Mata, Siggy (Albrighton)
    Costa, Lukaku, Ronney

    Option 2
    Begovic (Myhill)
    Coloccini, Mariappa, Cameron (Wisdom, Hooiveld)
    Sanchez, Fabregas, Mata, Siggy Sterling
    Costa, Rooney (Bojan)

With Option 2 I can stick with Foster and invest another 0.5 into defenders so can take one of them up to a 5.0 defender?

Those defences don't work. coloccini is the only guaranteed starter. the simplest thing to do is sanchez to ramsey and upgrade the defence,

Both look good although as SwanMoreTime says there are slight doubts over Cameron and Mariappa. As it stands I expect both to start though.

Hooiveld concerns me more - looks like Bartley from Swansea is likely to play at 4.0, maybe go for him?

I'd say the first option is classic, the second option is a bit more maverick - how punty would you like to be? 🙂

    Hi

    Please RMT.

    Begovic
    Caulker Lovren Rafael
    Sterling Lamela Sanchez Young
    Costa Rooney Jovetic

    Krul van Aanholt Albrighton Wisdom

Afraid Gamboa will hurt Wisdoms game time, gonna change with Bartley if Chico is out. If that's the case maybe I should switch van aanholt with a stoke defender?

I have some faith in Jovetic after an impressive pre season, but because of him i'm forced to pick Young over Mata, Cesc or Ramsey. I still think Young is nailed, am I wrong?

    Cheers

      Thinking of doing:

Chester ---> Bruce to afford Snoddy ---> Arnautovic. Would leave me with 2 4.0 defs, but not too fussed about it. Don't really mind if Bruce doesn't play all the time either.

I wouldn't go for Bruce personally, can't see him getting the game time and I'm a bit concerned about Hull's resilience given their Europa commitments (I have Chester myself but he's on thin ice). I'd consider Wisdom, Duff, Moore as possible 4.0 defenders.

        Who is King? 😯

4.5m cheapie who plays for Lei, decent goal scoring record. Fairly nailed on. Not Albrighton 😀 The King!

Nice balance. Not sure about Jovetic, plus fixts are not that great.

Not having Mata would make me a bit nervous, plus I would give Snoddy some time. He always starts bad and improves during xmass time. I would look on getting Eriksen/lamela instead or even Henderson @ 6 is a great option. Nice fixts Spurs have plus new manager which they want to impress. Cheers.

Morning, Could you slate/rate my team pleaes.

    Guzan (Mannone)

    Jones-B.Davies-Sagna-Debuchy (Dummett)

    Yaya-Eriksen-Sanchez-Barry(El Ahmadi)

    Rooney Diego Costa (Bojan)

2 decent rotational Keepers with good alternating fixtures
Barry And El Ahmadi rotate well as 4th and 5th midfield cover
Bojan in my opinion is probably the best rated cheaper striker and i think could be one to watch this season bit of a michu bargain good returns could be coming.
I also think Eriksen is going to stand out this season for tottenham last season he seemed to finaly find his feet and i think he will continue this season too,
Going with yaya to start as i think without Aguero for the immediate start Yaya will commence with the penalty duties and hopefully the form he finished with last season too.
I know i have spent a bit in on my defence but i dont want maybe starters i want nailed on and i think the crop i have there are all nailed on starters and have decent fixtures to start me off too.

Please feel free to comment as you wish.

BDavies might not start in favor of Rose (risky) Sagna and Dummet not nailed on. You need playing picks. Front 8 looks good, but you need a playing defense to support it from time to time. Cheers

You really dont think after paying as much as they did for both players they wont be in the starting line up, I think they have to be at thatem prices and the form they have shown....

Just my 2 cents and an honest advice. Danny Rose is NO useless player and he just signed a 5year contract. Secondly Sagna has Zabaleta to compete with. Thirdly you can definitely keep all of them in your team.

Good to fit in Yaya - I think everyone else will be scrambling to fit him in after the 1s2 two GWs.
Not sure on Costa or any Chelsea forward, last one to score goals from that position was Drogba in his prime but Chelsea play differently now.
Guzan? surely other GKs available at that price

Guzan from last seasons forrm as a 4.5 priced goal keeper was second only to Mannone.

Mannone-134 clean sheets 11 Guzan 127 clean sheets 9 the problem i see is he conceeded the highest amont of goals 61 but that is down to defence too,
Guzan had the best BPS too 177 and second to mannone again for EA PPI-339

Mariappa/Caulker and NTaylor/Huth rotation. GIlks and Albrighton mostly bench fodder.. If Albrighton's not looking to start I may even swap him to someone like Wanyama.. Would be happy with starting Siggy every week..

Hi guys, please give it a rate and bit of advice would be nice as i have 2mill in the bank, would prefer 0 or 0.5m in the bank

    DDG (Myhill)
Caulker / Davies / Vlaar (Bartley / Janmaat)
Ramsey / Siggy / mata / Hazard (vc) (Alnbrighton)
    Rooney / Costa / Bojan

possibly upgrade Vlaar, but to who? or could stick Remy in instead of Bojan?

    Mannone / Krul (rotation pair)
Shaw / Debuchy / Cameron (Coloccini / Vlaar)
    Barkley / Touré / Hazard / Henderson / Sánchez
    Giroud / Pellé (Nugent)

Built to play 3-5-2 but is this too midfield heavy?
Swapping Touré and Hazard for Silva and Gerrard would free up more money...
Not convinced about Coloccini. Is there a better 4.5 option?
Recommendations about starting GW1 with Cameron or Vlaar appreciated, too.

In my opinion, yes it is too heavy. You could very, very easily end up with major armband problems if Costa and/or Rooney starts banging them in. It feels a little inflexible.

I think you need Rooney. He's the #1 owner striker by quite some margin for a reason, he's a great choice with a striker role looking on the cards and United having amazing fixtures.

Even if you overlook everything, I would pick him just for the armband.

RMT please out 10, This will probably close to my final team:
    GK: Foster/Mannone (Krul)
DEF: Cameron, Cahill, Evans (N.Taylor, Coloccini/Chester)
MID: Sterling, Ramsey, Mata, Hazard (Wanyama)
    FWD: Rooney, Dzeko, Bojan

Shaw is 100% starter, if Valencia is fit at RWB then I'm pretty sure young will be one the other flank he was probably the best player at ICC tournament, still preseason but he is doing really well, so I think Shaw --> Evans/Jones. then you can upgrade Wisdom 'cause WBA just signed a LB Gamboa. Sturridge not sure about the value atm, but the rest of your team is pretty solid
