The Weekend Team News

Angel di Maria could be set for his United debut this weekend. Bojan Krkic returns to full training after recovering from a knock. James Collins joins the Hammers’ injury list after sustaining a hamstring injury, while Wilfried Zaha could be set to turn out for Palace if his loan deal is sealed in time.

Angel di Maria could be poised for his United debut at Burnley after joining from Real Madrid on Tuesday, though compatriot Marcos Rojo is unlikely to receive a work permit in time. Shinji Kagawa sustained concussion in the cup loss at MK Dons and looks set to miss out, with Louis van Gaal stating United now have 10 injured players as they head to Turf Moor.

Bojan Krkic has returned to full training after missing Stoke’s midweek cup match. Mark Hughes is without Geoff Cameron, though, while fellow right-back Phil Bardsley is a doubt – the summer signing has failed to train all week with a knee problem.

Mikel Arteta and Kieran Gibbs remain sidelined with injury as Arsenal head to Leicester. Arsene Wenger has also confirmed that keeper David Ospina in back in full training but is likely to miss out on the clash against Nigel Pearson’s Championship winners.

Sebastien Pocognoli (thigh) is a doubt for West Brom’s trip to Swansea with a thigh problem. Victor Anichebe is expected to recover from a groin complaint, whilst Gareth McAuley, James Morrison and Cristian Gamboa are all in the squad after featuring in the midweek cup clash with Oxford.

Sam Allardyce has confirmed James Collins has picked up a hamstring injury and is out of the Hammers’ home match against Southampton, while new boy Diafra Sakho is a doubt with a back problem.

The Saints, meanwhile, have a near fully-fit squad to choose from, with only wide man Lloyd Isgrove, along with long-term absentee Jay Rodriguez, ruled out by Ronald Koeman.

Cheick Tiote remains out for Newcastle’s home encounter with a hamstring problem. Jack Colback has recovered from the knock that saw him miss the Capital One Cup clash with Gillingham and, along with young winger Rolando Aarons, is in the Magpies’ squad.

Harry Redknapp has revealed Charlie Austin – who missed out last week with a hamstring problem – will be assessed again today before deciding whether the frontman can return to training. Alejandro Faurlin is set for an extended period on the sidelines after sustaining an anterior cruciate ligament injury in the midweek cup loss to Burton Albion.

Wilfried Zaha looks poised for his Palace debut bow at Newcastle after rejoining the club on a season-long loan deal yesterday. Joe Ledley could be set to miss Palace’s trip to Newcastle with the groin problem sustained in the warm-up prior to last week’s loss to West Ham. Scott Dann is in with a chance of recovering from a thigh knock, though.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official twitter stream as breaking news unfolds.

    Good work Demi.
    Impressive as always.

Glad to see the changes in WBA, SOU and NEW, although i fear Pardew will never leave Gouffran out the starting team.
Maybe Sissoko could take the place of one of Anita or Colback.

I am in the same boat and looking to hold on the FT and play a 2 4 4. Looking long term, easier to adjust with the extra transfer after the international break as well.

Is anyone else waiting on Costa with the international break next week? My front line would then read--- forcing me to go 2 4 4
    Siggy | Hazard | Mata | Ramsey
    Rooney | Naismith
    1 FT .9M ITB

    Options:
    1) Stick with Costa save money and FT for next week to better arrange sale to fund more expensive forward ( if 2 weeks isnt enough time to shake off the injury)
    2) Costa> City forward other then Kun
    3) Costa> Balotteli

    Thoughts??

The only thing Costa is definitely out of is 2 weeks away with Spain.

International Break on the horizon, Costa gets a non-specific, let's wait and see, can't train etc. etc. kind of injury.

When Chelsea park the bus and eventually go 2-0 up to Everton tomorrow, Costa comes off after about 65-70 mins (which is probably about usual anyway), holding his hamstring/thigh/calf* (delete as applicable)

He then puts his feet up for 2 weeks whilst Sturridge/Aguero/Van Perise/Rooney et al spend the next two weeks traveling halfway around the world and back.

2 weeks time is plenty for the non-specific, let's wait and see, can't train etc. etc. kind of injury to heal, and so Costa fresh and available for SWA and, most importantly for Chelsea, mci the following week.

    Hello all,

Can someone just confirm that for new entries into the game (i.e. Angel Di Maria), their prices are protected for ten days?

Not sure where I read it, and can't find it again now... but the admittedly erratic Price Tracker is saying he's going up tonight.

That used to be true, and probably still is, but it is yet to be confirmed whether it still applies this season.

The price trackers are just saying that he might go up if the protection rule no longer applies, but they won't know definitely whether it does or not until they actually have some evidence for it from this season's price changes.

    2 free transfers

    A) Costa and Eriksen -> Aguero and Chadli (leaves 0.4 in bank)

    or

    B) Costa and Bojan -> Jovetic and Naismith (leaves 2.6m in bank)?

Week 3 wildcards.. they'll be a bit of a let down won't they?! Players slower to rise and fall + total fpl not having a clue what the new algorithm's all about = a waste of a wildcard if your team's not looking too bad already

Mata 'cause you probably have rooney.
But i would consider dropping sterling until we see how they fit balotelli in their attack, and will liverpool start scoring.
