We delve into the Gameweek 5 data this evening in our first members article of the week. Wayne Rooney’s new role for United comes under analysis, as do Burnley and Leicester’s displays up front, whilst a couple of north London-based frontmen are also placed under the microscope after their contrasting weekend performances.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Yes ... one that actually kicks goals is always a blessing for the gaffer.

He's a perfect fit. Once again he showed everyone he's the best manager in the world.

I have tried to hate him, but you have to respect the wiley old dog don't you ... just knows how to play a season! Chelsea deserve the league this year, at this stage at least!

Indeed. A brutish and relentless striker who also has aerial ability and skill. He'd be a great forward in any team but his persona fits like a hand in a glove in a Mourinho team

No surprise there really. People were getting rid of him as if he was the plague in the last 36 hours.

That's a big drop for his owners, who lose 0.1 selling value now. Glad I got rid for Ulloa before their respective price changes. Basically earned myself 0.2 already.

Oh wow that was more than I expected. Absolutely chuffed that I have 3 of the risers! TV up to 102.9 now 🙂

Pleased to get rid of Naismith in time too. And also - love how there is now a 0.7 difference between Fabregas and Mata. I for one saw that happening when I did Mata>Fab in GW2 🙂

All you have to do is look at transfers in and transfers out, it's quite easy to read in my opinion.

It's really not because you don't know how many are WC transfers and if players are slowly rising like Naylor it's nigh on impossible to follow.

      1. rickardinho
        • 11 Years
        11 years, 10 months ago

Yep. You've got to be pretty dedicated to tracking the slower risers if you want to track when they're gonna rise. And that's even if you figure out what the exact threshold is, which seems to be a mystery apparently.

Based on what I have seen from West Ham against Hull and Liverpool they will be a really tough opponent for United this weekend, just as they would for pretty much any opponent right now. They look bang on form and confidence couldn't be higher.

The logic is that the tougher an opponent the less likely it is that a player will score well against them. But you know that.

If some one told me at the beginning of the season on GWK6 I would have a Burnley defender as my second sub above an Arsenal defender I would have laughed their head off. Duff is a magic man.

I'd play any defender facing Burnley at the moment. Burnley are only set up to defend. Their attacking options are almost nil.

I know what you mean but I don’t wanna play Duff and Wilson. I know Burnley won’t score but WBA make sneak a goal. I already have Bertrand and Wilson playing.

Very rare early transfer for me this week. Rambop and m,ata to adm and cesc

Own welbeck and think him, wallky and sanchez will hog their points, so ditching rambadman with a heavy heart

Adm and fabregas are a cut above

Tough to pick between the first 3.

59.6% ownership. That must be pretty much all of the active players. Injury is the concern though especially once they get to the serious end of the champions league. He may get rested a bit then.

He's definitely becoming one, Pelle is starting to look good. Hard to split the two, but Arsenal are the better side, but on the other hand Pelle is the Saints' main goalscorer

Despite utd beginning the season poorly, Rooney is on course for 190 points , just needs to average 5 points per game
The same score he finished on last season, despite oten being in midfield

Only if he stays in the hole, which is very doubtful. Could be dropped altogether if it goes sour with LVG, mind. But I think we'll see that coming.

This. Ridiculous to keep Rooney ATM. Not playing as a forward, and is a negative OOP. He's a premium option on top of that and isn't worth an assist a game or even less.

And like Beric said, loads of other premium, mid and budget options popping up for forwards ATM.

            You think so?

I can see it paying off short run and long run with replacements like Pelle, Welbeck and Aguero.

Saints could pump QPR, Arsenal look like they'll run Spurs over with Spurs' current form, and City and Aguero need no explanation.

Rooney on the other hand is playing -OOP, as a midfielder, and sometimes even deeper than his stated role because of ADM bombing forward. I already have ADM, and that's enough "coverage" for me. Not happy to keep a 0-5 point premium forward in my team. I guess it could wait...just not for me.

He was played in midfield for a chunk of last season too.

That's not bad at all, but the way I see it is this:

      Rooney 190 points + 4.5 mid 40 points = 230

      Pelle 150 points + Tadic 140 points = 290

      Both cost roughly the same.

Obviously you won't always play the cheaper one and someone else would take their place, as well as captaincy points, but I think Pelle is good enough to be rated around 9m rather than 7.6 and he's worth more points-per-£ than Rooney imo, which is what its all about.
