After last weekend was disrupted by the FA Cup Fourth Round fixtures, the league action returns as Hull entertain Newcastle at the KC Stadium. Both sides approach this one in poor form, having lost four of their last six league matches, though Steve Bruce will be buoyed by his side’s last home match, which produced a 2-0 win over Everton.
Despite losing each of the last two, Newcastle’s John Carver has been handed the manager’s position until the end of the season. The Magpies have struggled on the road of late – their previous five road trips have harvested just three goals, suggesting that attacking returns could be few and far between in this one. Two goals and three assists in seven makes Jack Colback the man in form, though the likes of Daryl Janmaat and co will be optimistic of points at the back in light of their hosts limited options. Prior to the Everton victory, the Tigers scored just one goal in their previous five fixtures in front of the Hull faithful.
The BT Sport schedulers are doubtless praying for the unexpected. Meanwhile, Fantasy managers will be content with a bout of low-level scouting as we build up to the three o’clock kick-offs.
