Welcome to this week’s Scout Picks Community Champion vote. Here’s a reminder of how this works. As part of our revamped Scout Picks, Mark, myself, Paul and a community champion picked by you each week are up against each other. All four teams are then used to decide our final weekly Scout Picks.

We are now looking for Gameweek 28’s Scout Picks Community Champion to represent you and get one over on The Scouts as well as be in with a chance of winning a special prize. The champion who manages the best Gameweek score (or best score from the first ten matches in a double Gameweek) will win a £100 Amazon voucher.

Be aware that for the purposes of the competition for the top gameweek prize and the scoring between the community and The Scouts only the first match of the double Gameweek will count towards the final score. This means that the QPR v Spurs outcome will not count towards the community or Scouts scores.

To put yourself forward simply add in your Gameweek 28 Scout Picks. For everyone else please upvote the poster you would like to represent you based on their picks.

We only need 11 picks and please be mindful of budget, which is 84m. There’s no captain in the picks either and please stick to a designated FPL formation, including no more than three players from one team.

I’ll leave this vote open until 9:30am tomorrow (Tuesday) when I will announce the winner. As there is a tight turnaround of Gameweeks we can only accept teams that also include around 200 words of explanation for your choices. As soon as the winner is announced his/her team will be sent to Paul for editing for that day’s Scout Picks article.

Any attempts to disrupt the voting process may lead to the team involved being removed at our discretion. Also the comment section below is for those who want to present their teams and vote. If you have any suggestions on how the Scout Picks can be improved further next year please email me at jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk rather than leave a comment below.

It seems that my 2nd /final team has been deleted Jonty when it is the first one that should have been deleted as I didn't know that only the first match of the double Gameweek will count towards the final score. Sorry for not making it clearer.

Going to give this another crack. Here goes:

    Lloris
    Ivanovic, Bertrand, Caulker
    Eriksen, Silva, Sterling, Philips
    Kane, Aguero, Austin

    £79.8

Obviously I've gone big on the DGW action here, but tried to go with those with the best chances of getting 2 starts.
In defence Lloris must be nailed on with a decent chance of 2 cleanies. Ivanovic, Bertrand & Caulker all pose a threat going forward, this hopefully could negate possible minus points for goals conceded by Caulker. Ivanovic is obviously in the sort of hot streak not seen since the likes of Laursen & Elliott were banging them in in years on by. Bertrand made a very promising return from suspension last gw, and with some better finishing would've delivered points.
Eriksen & Philips are for me the standout DGW midfielders, and Silva and Sterling have great home fixtures and also very good form to boot.
For the forwards, this is pretty much a no-brainer I think. Kane's partial rest in Europa hopefully should enable him to play 150+ minutes over the gw, and you'd have to think that Austin, as their main threat will play 180 minutes. Aguero despite having one fixture could outscore the other two.

that's just for the prize though right. This team is entered in order to beat the scouts and try to reel them in a bit!

"This means that the QPR v Spurs outcome will not count towards the community or Scouts scores."

So any DGW player you've picked will only get the first game which is fine but not sure if you were aware

Rethink required, I reckon. The Scout Picks, to my mind, are supposed to be the Scouts' collective advice on the optimum selection for the upcoming gameweek. But if you ignore the DGW matches, then this isn't true any more.

I see your point but if you include the DGW it would probably be rather boring:

Austin, Kane, Eriksen, Spurs def in every team. Actually makes it a little more difficult when you only get to choose from the first game.

I do understand it might confuse people a little though.

'Excitement' shouldn't come in to it - it's the Scouts advice of which team they think will score the most in the gameweek. For a DGW It should (and always has) contained as many DGW players as possible.

                  See below 🙂

Looks like the scouts will be focusing on the double and the points thing is only for the community picks.

Myself, Paul and Mark will be focusing on the dgwk I'm sure and getting the best squad for the whole double gameweek. Which means this is a great opportunity for the community champion to beat us all.

Don't worry the final scout picks that emerges from this will be our optimum selection for the upcoming gameweek.

That's fair - it's only because of the competition element that this issue has come up. Clearly if you're offering a prize for the best gameweek score than you're not really encouraging people to have a go in a non-DGW, as its more likely than not that a DGW score will be the highest.

An idea (for next year) is that it's not the top score that wins the prize, but who beats the Scout selection by the highest margin. That way everyone can go DGW player crazy (will probably make GW38 more relevant too).

I think that's a good idea - will certainly consider that when we come to tweak the format next year.

As said, because of the competition in place it wouldn't be fair to include the dgwk's extra game...so its a bit of an unusual week. The final picks though from all this will have a v strong dgwk focus though.

why don't you just allow DGW players to score for the points competition, but then discount the points from the 2nd dgw game for the purposes of the voucher?

No DGW players and at 80.4 you have enough change to never work again.

Be brave and vote for my 4-4-2 or vote for someone with similar DGW players as you to make yourself feel more comfortable.

    ------------------Forster-------------
    Sakho Skrtel Bertrand Clichy
    Sterling Nasri Walcott Silva
    ------------Aguero N'Doye--------

    Foster
    Moreno - Clichy - Bertrand
    Coutinho - Silva - Ozil - Mane
    Aguero - Kane - Rooney

    83.9m!

We start off with Foster in goal against a Villa side who have still only scored 13 premier league goals all season. I fully expect West Brom’s recent clean sheets to continue. Next up we have the attacking Moreno with a plum fixture against Burnley at home. Its hard to pick clean sheets for me this week so I’ve gone for Bertrand and Southampton who have been good for clean sheets all season. My last pick is Clichy. While Man City haven’t been great at the back I fancy them to nick a clean sheet against Leicester and Clichy could get attacking returns.

I had to have a Liverpool midfielder this week and my pick is Coutinho off the back of an impressive match against City. Again, I needed a City mid this week and opted for Silva who has been consistent of late. Ozil is my Arsenal pick with a nice fixture against QPR away. Lastly we have Mane as our cheaper midfielder. I know Saints haven’t been scoring a great deal but I think Mane will help them get a goal against Palace.

Two of our strikeforce pick themselves – Aguero against Leicester is a must have and Kane is always good for a goal. After 2 goals against Sunderland I’m sticking with Rooney on pens against a poor Newcastle side.

Nice team this! I always worry about Moreno and Clichy though as both rotation risks, love the Coutinho punt, Sterling safer but Countinho could explode soon.

    Let's give it a try.

    Lloris (SWA, qpr)
Bertrand (CPL) | Skrtel (BUR) | Wollscheid (EVE)
Silva (LEI) | Eriksen (SWA, qpr) | Sterling (BUR) | Coutinho (BUR)
Kane (SWA, qpr) | Aguero (LEI) | Austin (ARS, TOT)

    Total : 81.3

    A few notes :
    - Lloris : a GK with two games, almost mandatory

    - Bertrand : even though Palace have been surprising good away from home lately, I'm still keeping faith in the Saints' rearguard

    - Skrtel : at home against Burnley, I can see CS and bonus points for Skrtel

    - Wollscheid : at home against an out of sorts Everton, could even yield some bonus points

    - Silva : the little man looks unstoppable at the moment

    - Eriksen : I know he might not play both games, but I'm still giving it a shot

    - Sterling & Coutinho : doubling up on the Liverpool midfield at home to Burnley doesn't seem like such a bad idea, considering what they did to Man City

    - Kane : double gameweek, need I say more?

    - Aguero : should score a goal or two against Leicester at home

    - Austin : 2 home games, even though QPR are hosting Arsenal and Tottenham, Austin has proved he can score against anybody

    Thanks for reading!

Putting myself forward. Good luck chaps (both in the picks and this week in FPL).

    ------------------------------------------Pantillimon (hul) --------------------------------------
------------------------Lescott (avl) Bellerin (qpr) Bertrand (CPL) --------------------------
-------------------Ozil (qpr) Sterling (BUR) Silva (LEI) Moses (EVE)----------------
------------------------- Costa (whm) Aguero (LEI) Kane (SWA) --------------------------

    TV: 82.3

GK: King of the save points against a Hull team who are in a lot of problems at the moment. My favourite goalkeeper, always likely to be in the points even if the concedes. I fancy a cleanie for Pants this week though.

DEF: Lescott has a real goal threat and Villa cant seem to buy a goal this season, his selection is a no brainer. Bellerin and Bertrand both love to get forward and have games which have the potential to yield attacking returns as well as defensive ones.

MID: Ozil is offering a great, cheaper alternative to Sanchez at the moment and has 4 assists in his last 3 games. Sterling is a vital cog of a resurgent Liverpool side who host struggling Burnley. Silva looks set to torment bottom of the league Leicester and Moses has fantastic underlying stats and is up against an Everton side in poor form in the league this year.

FWD: Costa and Aguero form a strong partnership in my scout picks, up against two sides who have been struggling defensively in recent weeks. Kane looks set to have a great double and wear the armband for many FPL manager and I fancy him to score against the Swans.

I thought about Moses too, just wasn't sure which cheap midfielder to go for, he could do the business. Costa is an interesting one. Likely to slip under the radar this week because of the double - could do well

West Ham are in real trouble at the moment, conceding three to Palace at home is unnaceptable really. I think rumours of Big Sam leaving in the summer has caused quite a lot of dissaray. Chelseas are going to want to build some momentum and take advantage of Citys slip up... I can see the Hammers getting Hammered in the week.

REPOST. Kindly ignore the 1st post!

    Pantilimon
    C.Dawson Skrtel Bertrand
    Sterling Ozil Silva Moses
    Sturridge Aguero Kane

    82.8 M

    GK
Pantilimon - Save points magnet and visiting a struggling Hull side. fancy him to bring home the points again.

    DEF
C.Dawson - Looked ever so threatening this GW and is a major threat in the opposition box and plays for a pulis led WBA team who are on a run of 3 consecutive CS against a Villa side who struggle to score.

Skrtel - Hosts Burnley with Liverpool in a terrific run of form, especially defensively. Good goal threat and most nailed on.

Bertrand - Unlucky not to get a assist on the weekend. Hosting a striker less Palace, looks set to benefit at both ends of the pitch.

    MID
Sterling - Picked up good form recently and looking ever so threatening. Plump fixture at home.

Ozil - Picked up returns in 4 of his last 5 starts and looks like the main man for Arsenal atm.

Silva - Also in great form and great fixture at home. Picks himself.

Moses - Been impressive since his comeback into the side. Has good stats and hosts a struggling Everton. Also on pens possibly.

    FWD
Sturridge - Rested and main man when he starts. Looks primed to benefit from his team's current form.

Aguero - In devastating form and does not need a DGW to possibly be the highest scorer this GW. No brainer.

    Kane - No explanation needed.

    LLoris

    Clyne Moreno Dawson

    Eriksen Walcott Silva Sterling

    Aguero Austin Kane

    -----------------------------------

    Brief Explanation:

    - Aguero,Silva,Eriksen,Kane. No brainer. The City players have form and the fixture. The Tottenham duo have 2 games. They are challenging for 4th spot which is their last hope for UCL football next season after exiting the Europa League. They can't afford to drop points. Both Kane and Eriksen will get 130-150 mins at least against easy opposition which is more than enough to do the damage.

-Austin: 2 home games. He has scored against the big teams he played at home.

-LLoris: Guaranteed to play both games. Offers some save points. Even without a CS in either games, he will could get you 5-6 points. If he gets just 1 CS, he will probably get double figures.

-Clyne: Soton are solid at home and Clyne offers goal threat.

-Moreno: Playing as a midfielder/wing back, great opportunity for CS with Liverpool's defensive resiliency and baps magnet.

-Dawson: Aston Villa can't buy a goal currently and will struggle to score to a Tony Pulis side. Dawson can also get the odd goal.

-Sterling: In form. Fielded up front and is due a goal. An easy home game against a leaky Burnley will help his case.

-Walcott: My punt this week. Didn't play yesterday so he is fully rested. Ozil,Sanchez and Caz on the other hand have played 2 games in the last 4 days. Ozil is a popular pick but he tends to be more consistent at home.

    Pantilimon (HUL)

Walker (SWA, qpr), Kompany (LEI), Lescott (ast)

Eriksen (SWA, qpr), Silva (LEI), Ozil (qpr), Coutinho (BUR)

Aguero (LEI), Kane (SWA, qpr), Austin (ARS, TOT)

    82 mil.

I've decided against a DGW goalkeeper instead backing Pantilimon, who though he has only kept 1 clean sheet in the last 4 due to save points still got 3+ on two other occasions. My third Tottenham player is instead Kyle Walker due to his very good distribution stats in the opponents half. Kompany and Lescott round out the defense due to very good fixtures.

Eriksen is my Tottenham midfielder of choice due to his explosive possibilites, over half the times he has scored have ended in a double digit haul. Silva may have missed out vs Liverpool but the attacking intention is still there and he and Aguero and great choices vs a Leicester back line that have not kept a CS in 7 and conceeded 2+ in 4 of those.

Ozil and Coutinho round out the midfield as two of the top 3 form midfielders with I expect their form to continue with the fixtures they have been handed. You can't go into the DGW without Harry Kane, even with a missed penalty it's 6 in his last 4 PL games and I'd expect more.

Austin is my last pick and though not in great form, Spurs have 1 CS in 7 and if QPR score, Austin's just over two thirds goal involvement should mean he's in the points.

      Pants

      Zaba , Skrtel , Lescott

      Eriksen , Silva , Coutinho , Ozil

      Giroud , Kane , Aguero

Defence : Pants offers a decent chance of clean sheet vs Hull and usually collects save points regardless , Most nailed on City defender and goal threat , Lescott decent clean sheet chance and goal threat

Midfield : Eriksen best option in that price bracket + capable of big score , Silva despite recent blip hard to ignore , Coutinho explosive recent form gives him the edge over Sterling , Ozil most inform Arsenal mid ,

Forwards : Giroud : Ticking over after goal vs Everton , Kane and Aguero pick themselves

    Pants

    Zaba , Skrtel , Lescott

    Eriksen , Silva , Coutinho , Ozil

    Giroud , Kane , Aguero

Defence : Pants offers a decent chance of clean sheet vs Hull and usually collects save points regardless , Most nailed on City defender and goal threat , Lescott decent clean sheet chance and goal threat

Midfield : Eriksen best option in that price bracket + capable of big score , Silva despite recent blip hard to ignore , Coutinho explosive recent form gives him the edge over Sterling , Ozil most inform Arsenal mid ,

Forwards : Giroud : Ticking over after goal vs Everton , Kane and Aguero pick themselves

Here are my picks again. I didn't know about the 2nd game in DGW not counting so its quite a different team.

    Panti

    Dawson Bertie Moreno

    Silva Coutinho Hazard Walcott

    Kane Kun Dzeko.

    Total:84

    - I opted for Panti and Dawson instead of Foster and a Sunderland defender because Sunderland defenders get rotated often. Also Panti has the advantage of save points.

    - Bertie and Moreno both have home fixtures, offer attacking threat and are bap magnets. Soton have been solid at home all season. Liverpool have been solid lately as well.

    - Silva,Dzeko and Kun have the form and the fixture so I decided to bet big on City.

    - Rooney relishing the forward role and has a great record against Newcastle I believe.

    - Kane is Kane. Swansea concede a lot of big chances too.

    - Coutinho is a man in form and high in confidence. He will wreak havoc on a leaky Burnley defense.

    - Hazard delivering home and away now. He is due a goal. Chelsea will be in a good mood after the cup win whereas Westham are in dire form.

    - Walcott is my differential pick. He will start after not playing at all in the last game. Caz,Ozil and Sanchez have played 2 games in 4 days. Rotation will have to kick in.

      - Pantilimon is always a great bet for save points, and has every chance of picking up Sunderland's sixth away clean sheet of the season at Hull.
      - The defenders offer great attacking potential as well as a good chance of a clean sheet. Liverpool, West Brom and Southampton are three of the most solid teams in the league of late, and each face a promising fixture.
      - These midfielders are all in great attacking form. Sterling, Silva and Ozil will look to continue their hot streaks against the promoted teams. Mane holds the key to ending Southampton's dry spell, and has every chance of exploding at home to an open Palace side.
      - Sturridge ought to start at home to Burnley, fully rested after the weekend - expect goals. The same goes for Aguero and Kane, the only two captaincy choices this week, and the most automatic picks out there.

      Nasri Silva Coutinho Moses Hazard
      Aguero Kane

What are these scout picks, what is FPL if not a game of chance, but driven by probability, repel the notion that it is all luck based, luck evens out, but a single gameweek, ah there in lies a challenge, because in the long run the skilled player wins out, but in the short run it tends toward a game of chance, but I shall still chance my arm, for what is the world if not to put yourself out there, does my effort merit reward through popular voting, or is the reward for me the effort itself, we veer perhaps more into philosophy here than FPL, there are those reading this who would look askance and make snide remarks and perhaps droll comments, but that is one’s prerogative, the world would be a dry place if not for putting oneself out there, ah the beautiful anonymity of the internet, keyboard warrior always conjures up images of the ultimate warrior of WWE fame, not that I am a WWE fan mind you, NBA, EPL and UFC are more my cup of Dareeling tea, my logic for the below is that I play poker and like mathematics and understand the laws of probability and in my mind fantasy EPL is all about maximizing your probability for success, because as we know in the short run it’s a game of chance, but in the long run we are all dead, Man City will kill Leicester smarting from defeat and out of all other trophies, Chelsea will park 15 buses but Ivanovic will rise like lochness monster, Coutinho is a little magician, Hazard a genius, but we must balance the books, so foster finds a place, Eriksen is tired, don’t pick him, Everton oh everton did bobby Martinez and van hall make a pact at the beginning of the season to suck just to prove media wrong, my grandmum’s grandmum’s chair would score against everton, moses rises like the phoenix, don’t you know that midfielders score more points in FPL, I am surprised that this has not caught on, 84 you say, your wish is my command.

      Currently thinking:.

Giroud and Puncheon out for Austin and Eriksen for free.

Di Maria for Silva for a hit worth it as well?

      Pantilimon

      Rose Ivanovic Moreno

      Coutinho Sterling Ozil Hazard

      Aguero Kane Austin

      83.7

Pantilimon is a common choice, cheap GK that gets decent points.

Rose has been able to provide some points from attacking returns and he has a double game week with two good fixtures. Cheap price too.

Ivanovic is the first choice for Chelsea's defense and he's been able to get points even when Chelsea conceded goals.

Moreno is the cheapest nailed on Liverpool DF and he plays OOP too. Liverpool defense proved very reliable in the last 11 games or so.

Coutinho and Sterling are the new SAS although maybe on a smaller level. They score goals and get assists and Cou in particular is in amazing form having scored two of the best goals of the season.

Hazard is a phenom, doesn't need explanation.

Ozil proved a much better option than Sanchez lately; he blanked only in one game in the last 5 and he's still a differential. Also, QPR is a good fixture.

Aguero, Kane and Austin are pretty much a template and for the right reasons. Kun is king of getting his form back and a game against Leicester is incredibly tasty. Kane is unstoppable and is the first captaincy choice with a very interesting DGW. Austin might not be the best option until the end of the season but his potential on a DGW, granted against Spurs and Arsenal, is clearly undeniable.

Also, i hope i have reached 200 words, i don't really want to check and i wouldn't know what to add to make this longer so i'm just dragging this on hoping it will be long enough even though i know i won't win this anyway. So at least give a couple of votes and blah blah blah yadda yadda yadda.

      Mignolet 5.2 (LIV)
      Kompany 6.4 (MCI) / Ivanovic 7.4 (CHE)/ Rose 4.9 (TOT)
      Eriksen 8.4 (TOT)/ Silva 9.5 (MCI)/ Coutinho 7.8 (LIV)/ Phillips 4.6 (QPR)
      Aguero 12.9 (MCI)/ Kane 6.2 (TOT)/ Austin 6.3 (QPR)

      79.6

This the my first team I have submitted and I believe this is the strongest team for the DGW

Minolet as my GK with Liverpool at home to Burnley

Man City playing Leicester at home sees Kompany in defence alongside DGW points for Rose, however I don't have confidence in QPR keeping a clean sheet during this DGW so they do not feature in my defence. Instead I have given Ivanovic the nod.

In form Silva and Coutinho cover my midfield for Man City and Liverpool home games whilst my DGW midfield points will come from Eriksen and Phillips.

I cannot leave out Aguero playing at home to Leicester who is alongside my DGW forwards Kane and Austin

      McGregor
      Hutton Ivanovic Bertrand
      Coutinho Sterling Silva Ozil
      Aguero N'Doye Giroud

      78.2

Mcgregor in goal, Hull tightened up of late, Sunderland without a goal in four plus off the field problem with Johnson suspended by the club. I can see 0-0 at Villa Park as Pulis shuts up shop away and with injury doubts for Ideye and Berahino, Hutton is the sensible route into the Villa back line. Ivanovic is a points scoring machine at the moment and the Hammers have lost there fight as they settle for mid-table. Palace struggling for strikers = Saints clean sheet.

Countinho and Sterling have been magnificent in tandem since the turn of the year, Set to continue against Burnley. If Silva can geton the ball and feed Aguero it could bring big scores for City's best players vs Leicester. Ozil is a man in form supplying Giroud. He can load the bullets for the Frenchman at QPR. N'Doye should be well rested and can run amock against Sunderland's defence low on morale.

Be aware that for the purposes of the competition for the top gameweek prize and the scoring between the community and The Scouts only the first match of the double Gameweek will count towards the final score.

      😆

      What a waste of time.

      Foster
      Clichy - Bertrand - Zouma
      Sterling - Silva - Ozil - Mane
