Monitor – Jason Puncheon

Having delivered 131 points in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game last time around, hopes were high for Jason Puncheon’s prospects as the new season got underway. The Palace winger quickly found his form and served up a goal and three assists in the opening six matches under Neil Warnock to suggest he could be worthy of our attentions once again.

As the Eagles started to struggle, Puncheon fell completely off our radars on the back of 14 successive blanks which saw his price slip down to 5.5 by the time Alan Pardew rolled up in Gameweek 21. Under the new manager, it’s been a different story altogether – two goals, four assists and eight bonus points has earned him 46 points in eight appearances, compared to 47 points in the first 20 rounds of matches.

With Palace poised to host QPR, West Brom and Hull in the next six, in addition to travelling to Stoke and Sunderland, expectations are building for Puncheon to maintain his recent momentum over the final three months of the campaign. We cast an eye over his displays across both periods and assess his contribution against other midfielders to ascertain his impact since Pardew took the Selhurst Park helm.

    Would players feel that it's harder now to get a top 10k finish than say 5 years ago?
    Has the evolution of technology/internet speeds/mobile phones/Stats/sites like these made it easier for the masses to get the relevant information and access to enable them to have a better, broader knowledge of Fpl thus increasing their score and the multiples doing the same ending up now in much much tougher competion?

        Yeah, I think the increase in numbers makes it harder, and increase in the number of people who are now able (due to sites like this) think through strategies such a DGWs and budget player.

          stil you need to push some buttons, its not like its running completely without you, but it recommends you the players in form, can auto transfer the players based on various criteria etc.

          Would be interesting to start a team next season and use FFFix to run it, without any own ideas/transfers and see how it goes... just to check what be the OR after final GW

        That's something I definatley noticed myself, there is a direct correlation between increase in traffic on here since that link was added, must have given the casuals a good leg up in terms of increasing their Fpl points.

      Probably. I think this site helps get you in the top 100k it you follow advice, templates, consensus and model your gameweeks on scout picks (when I first joined I thought it was essential to have at least 4 scout picks....now I think I prefer it when I don't have any 😉 )

      Going beyond that is all about skill, luck and timing. The wealth of stats available now may help but wouldn't say its guaranteed returns.

      Also never underestimated the power of watching all games on MOTD and not doing drunk transfers on Friday night (or sat night watching MOTD!)

      Im investing way too much time in FPL and checking out FFS. There is not much to gain on it either, FPL-wise, but its really addictive. Especially after great Gw's I find myself spending to-three hours a day at this site. But 10 mins before going to bed should cover it, really.

      If I were Pogba I'd probably go for either B or D.

      He needs to go to a new league and work on his development there while he's still young, my belief is that Serie A (as a whole) isn't quite the same level as La Liga or the PL so it'd be beneficial for him.
