Mondogoal GW 33 – £30,000 Contest Latest

The Fantasy Football Scout lineup was pipped at the post in last weekend’s Mondogoal contests, earning second and third placings – this despite backing the Crystal Palace points avalanche at Sunderland.

Yannick Bolasie and Glenn Murray combined to earn us almost half of our 106.90 points total but that wasn’t enough to deny Mondogoal heavyweight, “ChrisDAFC”. He earned his sixth spot in Mondogoal’s £30,000 World Championship via his 112.97 haul and also edged past us in the special West Ham Awards Dinner contest.

Chris now looks well set up to compete for the big final day prize but we’ll be locking horns with him again this week in our quest to earn a qualifying spot to take him on.

The £30,000 World Championship

How Does it Work?

So far, over 100 qualifiers have now gone forward to the final Gameweek contest. To qualify, you need to win one of Mondogoal’s £30k qualifying contests – you can enter these for just £2.

How Do I Enter?

Mondogoal are running three more qualifying contests this weekend. You have until 12.35 on Saturday to select your line-up for either the £2, £10 or £50 contests.

The more you lay down with your stake, the more chance you have of making it through, with just 22 teams competing in the £10 contest and only five competing in the £50 stake contest.

If you’re consistent with your picks you may even be able to progress with more than one team – you can have up to ten entries in the Championship final come May.

Don’t forget, you can enter multiple contests with the same Mondogoal line-up with the click of a button.

Having multiple teams will obviously increase your outlay but, with the ability to block out defences, you’ll certainly be increasing your chances of hitting a big score.

Once you’ve created your squad for one contest, go to your list of entries, click on a contest and then click “Enter This Line-up in Other Contests”.

Despite their miserable form and defeat at Old Trafford, we’ve gambled on building our current selection around Man City’s Etihad encounter with West Ham.

City have a point to prove and the Hammers look to be the perfect opposition to aid their recovery. Sam Allardyce’s men are also in a malaise and have little to play for. With that in mind, we’ve backed a City clean sheet and are putting faith in David Silva and Sergio Aguero to pepper Adrian’s goal and emerge with points aplenty.

That investment in City has forced us to discount Eden Hazard for the first time in over a month. The Belgian has been a Mondogoal mainstay for us but, with the Stamford Bridge clash with United looking hard to call, we’ve chosen to look elsewhere.

Palace’s form guys – Glenn Murray and Yannick Bolasie earn predictable places in our squad. To be fair, after last weekend, we almost feel obliged to retain their services.

The selection of Everton trio Leighton Baines, Seamus Coleman and Aaron Lennon might surprise a few, although the Toffees clearly offer the potential of a clean sheet at home to a shot-shy Burnley. Coleman and Baines bristle with attacking threat, while Lennon is a livewire on the flank with two goals and an assist in his last four.

Free-scoring Leicester City help to complete our XI. While Jamie Vardy earned the plaudits for his at-the-death winner at the Hawthorns, we’ve gone for the cheaper option of David Nugent. He may lack Vardy’s energy and pace, but Nugent certainly has the craft to play a key role in the Foxes vital home clash with Swansea – he’s also expected to be on spot-kicks. Back in midfield, Marc Albrighton is our budget enabler: a surprise starter last time out, we’d expect him to retain his spot in the Leicester lineup and, at just 4.4 million, we have to gamble on his selection.

We’re expecting to tinker further. Crucially, with no early kick-off on Saturday, we’ll have a view on the teamsheets from a quartet of three o’clock matches before submitting our final squad. Mondogoal’s weekend contests will close at 2.55pm on Saturday.

Sorry fellas, been twisting my melon all week...

    Pants
    Terry Ivan Schlupp Toby
    Boyd Hazard Erik
    Kane Kun Murray

    Manone Sanchez Sterling Bruce (1FT -- 2.1itb)

I'm thinking Manone and Sanchez to Schmeichel and Silva (-4)
This will then leave me doing:
    34 - Erik to Hendo
    35 - Murray to Giroud
    36 - Sterling to Ozil
37 - fish for the best 3rd Arsenal spot and cry about being unable to afford Sanchez.
    38 - depends on OR

NB - my main worries are being Liverpool light for their DGW (only Sterling and Hendo), and saying goodbye to Sanchez after so long and not having him in 37. My main motive for these moves is getting Silva for his remaining 4 home games.

Any comments and advice would be appreciated. Cheers.

Just wanted to say I'm a big fan of the entirely warranted palace love in on here at the moment. Murray, Zaha and Bolasie won us promotion and it's great to see them combining so well in the prem.

    Davis
    Terry, Clyne, Dawson
    Hazard, Silva, Eriksen, Boyd
    Aguero, Kane

Bench: Myhill, Naughton, Hutton, Sanchez, Giroud

    2FT, 1.6 in bank

Need to make 1FT to start 11 players. Don't have my WC so can't be a 1 week punt

    A) Naughton -> Stones
    B) Sanchez -> Fabregas
    C) Other

I did Vardy. I think he will out score Murray over the next two game weeks and frees up money for more double game week players next week.

I did Vardy! Typical if Nugent takes big points though...

Who will score more points between now and the end of the season: Kane or Vardy?
