Scout Notes

Scout Notes – Gameweek 35 – Monday

Arsenal rack up a ninth win in ten Gameweeks with a commanding display at the KC Stadium. Alexis Sanchez nets twice and Aaron Ramsey chips in with a goal and assist, as Stephen Quinn heads home Hull’s consolation in the 3-1 defeat.

Sanchez at the double as Arsenal flourish

Alexis Sanchez stole the headlines with a brace at the KC Stadium as Arsenal staged a free-flowing, attacking masterclass to record a 3-1 victory over Hull City. The Chilean forward opened the scoring with a deflected free-kick, before latching onto Aaron Ramsey’s superb through ball and calmly rounding Steve Harper for the Gunners’ third of the evening.

Sanchez fourth brace of the campaign strengthens his case for inclusion as Fantasy managers eye up Arsenal coverage ahead of their double Gameweek 37. Those looking to draft in the 11.3-priced midfielder – who’s netted three goals in four league starts – may well consider making a straight swap with Eden Hazard to free up the substantial funds. Hazard’s consistency (attacking returns in 14 of previous 20 starts) is undeniable, yet Sanchez’ explosive capabilities have now seen him return double-figures on eight occasions ahead of his four fixtures in the final three Gameweeks.

Ramsey impressed once more in his sixth successive start since a full return from injury in Gameweek 29. The Wales international boosted his tally to three goals and four assists over that period and, priced at 8.7, has edged ahead of Mesut Ozil and Santi Cazorla in the race for our double Gameweek attentions.

Olivier Giroud drew a blank for the third match on the trot, having netted in six consecutive outings before Gameweek 32. The French marksman only mustered four shots in Arsenal’s last two fixtures, with none of these efforts forcing a save out of the opposition’s goalkeeper. Conversely, Sanchez has chalked up 10 shots (four on target) across the last two, perhaps rendering him the premier captaincy pick for Arsenal’s double – already, the Chilean has risen in price and has been snapped up by over 26,000 FPL managers since the weekend.

Arsene Wenger named an unchanged XI from that which played out a 0-0 stalemate against Chelsea last Gameweek. Danny Welbeck missed out with inflammation in his knee, but Wenger revealed before the encounter that he expects the former Manchester United frontman to be passed fit for their Swansea City clash next Monday.

Hull outclassed by buoyant Gunners

Steve Bruce also fielded an unchanged side as Hull fell to just their second home defeat in six. Stephen Quinn bagged his first goal of the campaign, while Ahmed Elmohamady notched his second assist in as many outings – the 12,600 Fantasy managers that drafted in the Egyptian on the eve of the Tigers’ double Gameweek will be hoping he can sustain that momentum when they host a Burnley outfit devoid of inspiration next weekend.

A subsequent trip to Tottenham Hotspur and home tie against Manchester United on the final day of the season present the Yorkshire club with a testing finish that doesn’t appear conducive to strong Fantasy returns. Nonetheless, the Tigers – who sit just one point behind 18th-placed Sunderland – will doubtless be fighting tooth and nail to avoid the drop, which, as evidenced by their recent results against Palace and Liverpool, could translate into results on the pitch.

I don't like the idea of taking a player off them for one miss. Rooney, fair enough, he doesn't have a good record or inspire confidence but RVP is a good taker normally. Falcao has an excellent record as well.

Yeah, RVP's an excellent taker imo. Surprised at the decision tbh, but i don't really see him playing many minutes next season either, so that may be a factor too

But it was a woeful pen, the angle of his run up made it blatantly obvious what he was going to do

Rooney should just be benched whenever he plays at Merseyside. He's got too much of an emotional baggage against either.

Rooney's record is average at best anyway. he misses as many as he scores. Not what I'd want from a 1st choice peno taker

            RvP doesn't miss many

RVP used to be good at scoring goals as well.

He's woeful these days. He's been the downfall of United this season and of course, his manager's arrogance and stubbornness to start him when fit.

Tbf, age and injuries have played a major part. And only starting recently as Carrick's been out, and Blind's been needed in defence, and therefore Rooney in midfield.

True but it is no coincidence that the spell where RVP was injured was when United's best spell came. Rooney needs to be played upfront no matter what. The striker inspires the team in most cases and very much so in a United setup.

Herrera's doing alright at CDM. And ADM/Fellaini should be good where Rooney plays as well.

I just can't believe LVG still can't see it.

Oh I agree, I'd ship him as well

we need someone with a bit of pace to stretch defences (but with better finishing than Welbz and more about them then Hernandez)

RvP 2 years ago would have taken at least one of those chances v WBA

Only way i can get Sanchez in without hits, also gives me Sunderland coverage. Plus ML rival has Sanchez and will almost certainly be armbanding.

Have Ramsey and Ospina as my other Arsenal cover.

Then sure, why not. Can't say I'd get Wickham myself, but tis a game of choices after all. 🙂

Cheers just had to hear someone say its sounds reasonable. Only getting Wickham for his double gameweek unless another Sunderland striker makes a case this week!!

    2 FTs but no moneys...

    Kasper Panti
    Ivan Terry Skrtel McShane Duff
    Hazard Sanchez Sterling Hendo Cambiasso
    Aguero Giroud Vardy

Any ideas on what to do next. Thinking of ditching a Chelsea defender and upgrading Hendo/Sterling to Ramsey/Ozil OR Vardy to Benteke.

Ha, read that as "2 Fts but no monkeys" 😆

Skrtel --> Someone and Hendo --> Ramsey

    Alright lads.

Am only 50 points in front now in a couple of money leagues after that disaster of a GW. Starting to get a bit of squeaky bum time. Need to win by *any* amount of points in next two GW's...

Same here - rival is 55 points behind me and has Sanchez who i can;t get until next week unless i take a hit :/

So you take a hit, block his most likely path to catch you, and still have OVER fifty points to go.

Got a kick during the match. Bit of brushing, apparently. Wasn't limping or owt when coming off. Imagine it was purely precautionary...

Got a big kick in the first half, and it was a good opportunity to give Jack some game time. He also looked a bit tired I thought.

    Davis

    Alder / Bellerin / Skrtel / Terry

    Sanchez / Hazard / Sterling

    Aguero / Kane / Giroud

    Phillips / Wasil / Ibe 0.9 ITB & 1FT

    Would appreciate some advice!

Ideally want to ship out sterling but can't see a viable option since I've used up all 3 of my Arsenal slots unless I should be looking to make a transfer elsewhere?

Welbeck's 'injury' was very minor. Should be back by the DGW.

arsenal attackers is a lottery imo. all can easily score double figures in any game and it's just good luck and bad luck picking the right/wrong games. they play such a fluid cohesive game that everyone gets involved barring coquelin, and to a lesser extent cazorla but he of course has set-pieces to compensate some-what

Think Sanchez and Ramsey are the two key ones. They seem to have that selfishness about them that can get them big hauls.

sanchez for sure, he is a greedy goose. know what you mean about ramsey but wouldnt personally call it selfishness as i think he still goes for the percentage option usually, it's just his runs are so well-timd that it's so often a shot

Yeah agree. I meant it as a compliment! I think Ozil is happy to take an extra pass When he could shoot but the other two guys will shoot at any decent opportunity which makes them fpl gold.
I'm going with those two and Koscielny cos I think he's the only def guaranteed to play all the last few games?

Always the voice of reason ab, giroud being written off as an fpl prospect yesterday, primarily because he was occupying the cbs in hull 3 cb formation, people selling him for a hit, gotta love the knee jerks
