The Promoted – Watford

Having cast an eye over Championship winners Bournemouth and play-off victors Nowich City, we end our analysis of the three promoted sides by turning our attentions to Watford.

CS = Clean sheets

The Hornets return to the Premier League after an eight-year absence, finishing a single point behind Bournemouth after failing to win their final home match of the season against Sheffield Wednesday.

Despite a tumultuous start to the campaign, Watford were third in the table when Slavisa Jokanovic took charge in October. The Serbian endured a tricky start, winning just two of his first eight fixtures (including a four-match losing streak in November), but turned things around pretty quickly thanks in large part to his side’s away form. Watford averaged 2.1 goals per match on their travels under Jokanovic’s stewardship, and by the end of the season had picked up 43 of their 89 points away from home.

Jokanovic’s men were the second highest scorers in the league, scoring 91 times, and were reasonably solid at the back, keeping 15 clean sheets. They ended the season with ten wins and three draws from their final 14 matches to clinch a place in next season’s Premier League.

The Manager

Jokanovic left the club after his contract expired and Watford are now set for their fifth manager in the last 12 months, following the appointment of Quique Sanchez Flores on a two-year deal. The 50-year-old boasts a wealth of managerial experience, having taken charge of top teams in Spain, Portugal and the United Arab Emirates.

Flores finished his successful playing career in 1997, having amassed 15 caps for Spain and played for Valencia, Real Madrid and Zaragoza, Handed his first coaching role in 2001, he was placed in charge of Real Madrid’s youth teams. In 2004, he took his first managerial job, guiding Getafe to a 13th place finish in La Liga, which prompted Valencia to appoint him as their new manager ahead of the 2005/06 season. In his two years in charge at the Mestalla, Flores guided his side to third and fourth place finishes, but was sacked after a poor start to the 2007/08 campaign.

The Spaniard spent the 2008/09 season with Benfica, helping the Portuguese side to a League Cup triumph, although a disappointing third place finish would see his time in Portugal come to an end. Flores then spent the best part of two seasons at Atletico Madrid, winning the Europa League in 2010, before spending three years in the United Arab Emirates. He returned to Spain earlier this year, taking over at former club Getafe, although he lasted less than two months at the club, resigning for alleged personal reasons.

Flores will work alongside assistants Alberto Diaz and Antonio Carlavilla at Vicarage Road, while Dean Austin will remain in the coaching structure. The Spaniard has been compared to his compatriot Rafael Benitez, with his ability to get the maximum from the players at his disposal seen as one of his major strengths.

In terms of tactics, Flores tends to operate with a 4-2-3-1 or 4-4-2 system. Throughout his career, he has favoured a pair of holding midfielders in front of the back-four and hits opponents on the counter. As the new Hornets boss explained during his time at Atletico, his approach allows his teams to be adaptable:

“..we’re going to adjust the system to the players that we have. You need energy, understanding and competitiveness in any system, and you have to go all out”.

The Promoted Squad

In addition to having four different managers by the time October arrived, there were plenty of changes to the playing squad last season. Heurelho Gomes, Juan Carlos Paredes and Craig Cathcart – all first-team regulars – among those who were brought in. Paredes was signed from Granada, one of the two other clubs (along with Udinese) also owned by the Pozzo family, who are in charge at Watford. Miguel Layun also joined from the Spanish side in the January transfer window. Forward Odion Ighalo was signed from the Italian side in October, while Ben Watson came in from Wigan in January, and was later joined by Adlene Guedioura, who arrived on loan from Crystal Palace.

Flores’ assessment will be keenly anticipated over the summer friendlies as we look for signs of the new manager’s approach. Last season, Jokanovic proved adaptable, often switching between 3-5-2 and 4-3-1-2 formations, although he also occasionally utilised 4-3-2-1 and 4-3-3 systems. With three forwards who scored over 15 league goals last season in Troy Deeney, Odion Ighalo and Matej Vydra, it’s no surprise that he tried to play with two strikers for much of the campaign.

Here’s the Hornets’ main men from last season’s successful campaign.

Heurelho Gomes (44 starts) – the former Tottenham keeper joined the Hornets last summer in search of first-team football, and duly played a significant role in the club’s promotion. The 34-year-old’s experience was invaluable among a youthful squad, and the Brazilian international has recently penned a new three-year contract. It remains to be seen whether Gomes will hold onto the number one jersey, though, after Watford signed Steaua Bucharest Giedrius Arlauskis stopper over the last fortnight.

Juan Carlos Paredes (32 starts, 7 sub apps. 4 assists) – Watford’s preferred right-back/right wing-back during the campaign and has been named in Ecuador’s final 23-man squad for this summer’s Copa America. Has good pace and likes to get forward, but can struggle going the other way.

Gabriele Angella (32 starts, 3 sub apps. 2 goals, 4 assists) – the Italian was the first choice centre-back for the majority of the season, and is a threat from set pieces, having scored nine goals in his two seasons at Vicarage Road.

Craig Cathcart (28 starts, 1 sub app. 3 goals, 2 assists) – a strong centre-back who has previous Premier League experience from his time at Blackpool. The Northern Ireland international was a regular starter under Jokanovic, though the summer arrival of Sebastian Prodl from Werder Bremen places heightens the competition in the heart of defence.

Joel Ekstrand (23 starts, 1 sub app. 1 goal, 1 assist) – the centre-half was a key part of the Watford rearguard, but suffered a serious knee injury in March and is likely to be out for the rest of 2015.

Tommy Hoban (20 starts, 7 sub apps, one assist) – far from a regular starter, Hoban did fill in well when injuries took their toll. Versatile enough to cover at centre-half and left-back but is unlikely to make as many appearances next season.

Daniel Pudil (19 starts, 4 sub apps. 1 assist) – played as a left-back and wing-back, but was largely a squad player and expected to feature even less next time around.

Ikechi Anya (27 starts, 8 sub apps. 7 assists) – the Scotland international can play in a variety of roles, including as an advanced midfielder, but was predominantly used as a wing-back by Jokanovic. His ability to play both sides meant he was less prone to rotation than others, and with his pace and trickery, can create chances from either flank.

Daniel Tozser (34 starts, 11 sub apps. 5 goals, 5 assists) – all five of the Hungarian international’s goals came from free-kicks, but having been a regular starter during the first half of the season as a deep-lying playmaker, Tozser often found himself among the substitutes following the arrivals of Watson and Guedioura.

Miguel Layun (14 starts, 3 sub apps. 1 assist) – another player capable of playing in more than one position, the Mexico international featured in defence and midfield, but offered little output to gain our attentions.

Gianni Munari (21 starts, 7 sub apps. 3 goals, 4 assists) – defensive midfielder who played an important role during the first half of the season, but, like Tozser, struggled for playing time following the arrivals of Watson and Guedioura.

Ben Watson (19 starts, 1 app. 2 assists) – signed from Wigan in January and was a regular starter during the run-in. The midfielder has significant Premier League experience from his time with the Latics.

Adlene Guedioura (13 starts, 4 sub apps. 3 goals, 4 assists) – the Algerian international was one of Watford’s form players during the final few months of the season, having re-joined the club for a second loan spell during the promotion winning campaign. A strong passer and took some of the set-piece duties.

Almen Abdi (28 starts, 4 sub apps. 9 goals, 2 assists) – suffered with shoulder and foot injuries during the campaign, but provides great quality as a goalscoring playmaker. Providing he can stay fit, Abdi looks to have the quality to shine at the highest level and warrant some attention as a Fantasy asset next term.

Matej Vydra (31 starts, 11 sub apps. 16 goals, 5 assists) – failed to make an impact in the Premier League with West Brom, but the pacey forward has continued to thrive in the Championship and should do better in the top-flight this time around. Has signed a further two-year loan deal over the summer.

Odion Ighalo (22 starts, 13 sub apps. 20 goals, 3 assists) – came into the side when Vydra and Deeney were struggling for goals and duly filled the void, scoring 14 goals in ten appearances in the middle part of the season.

Troy Deeney (37 starts, 5 sub apps. 21 goals, 9 assists) – named club captain prior to the promotion-winning campaign, Deeney is the focal point for the Hornets, providing strength up front, although he also has clever movement and is a good finisher. Deeney the primary penalty taker, although Vydra and Ighalo have also taken them while he has been on the pitch. Could follow in the footsteps of Charlie Austin, Leonardo Ulloa and Danny Ings as a promoted forward offering value.

Fernando Forestieri (10 starts, 14 sub apps. 5 goals, 4 assists) – used primarily off the bench, likes to run at defenders and has an eye for goal. Seems unlikely to get much of a look in next season.

Potential Targets

As mentioned above, Watford have been quick to add to their ranks already, bringing in Arlauskis and Prodl at the back, in addition to re-acquiring Vydra up front. Certainly, we can expect another busy summer as Flores takes time to assess his new squad and there could well be further acquisitons from Udinese and Grenada by the time the transfer window closes on September 1. Indeed, Udinese left-back Ali Adnan – dubbed the Iraqi Gareth Bale – has been linked with a loan move.

Captain Troy Deeney had his say on how the club would look to approach the forthcoming transfer window:

“Speaking to the owner I feel they will be bringing in some lads with Premier League experience. It is not going to be a case like Burnley’s, where they have said ‘we are going to stick with you lot [who secured promotion]’. Sentiment won’t be held by our owner. He is very much ‘you are in the Prem now so get the job done’. I think there will probably be four or five lads coming in with Premier League experience and then there are people like myself who are absolutely buzzing to be there [for the first time].”

The playing squad will need strengthening in most areas, though it’s already clear the priority is defence. Watford have been linked with Burnley right-back Kieran Trippier following the Clarets’ relegation, although Southampton and Bournemouth are also thought to be interested in the 24-year-old.

Adrian Mariappa is another reported target. The 28-year-old Crystal Palace defender has struggled for pitch time under Alan Pardew and could welcome a return to Vicarage Road in a search for first-team football. Sassuolo wing-back Sime Vrsaljko is rumoured to be attracting interest and, having made 20 appearances for the Serie A side in 2014/15, the Croatia international could add some quality to the squad. With Ikechi Anya being strongly linked with a £4 million move to Celtic, reinforcements will certainly be needed, should he make the move to the Scottish champions.

Out-of-contract Reading midfielder Jem Karacan is another who has been mentioned as a possible target for Watford, although like with Tripper, Watford could have to battle with fellow Premier League new boys Bournemouth for his signature. Elsewhere in the centre of the park, the Hornets are reportedly interested in Tottenham’s out-of-favour midfielder, Benjamin Stambouli. Further forward, Montpellier winger Anthony Mounier is also thought to be a target.

It certainly seems as though Watford could take a slightly different approach to Bournemouth in their summer recruitment, with a willingness to search for bargains on the continent alongside the need to bring in players with Premier League experience. Flores will hope that balance will aid his side’s bid to beat the drop as the Hornets look to survive more than one season in the top-flight, something they have failed to do on the last two occasions they have gained promotion.

Fantasy Football Scout daily hot topic

How many players from promoted clubs will you be taking a punt on?

Troy Deeney does look like he's worth a punt as a third striker (as long as he's 6m or below)?

As long as I've got proven players in top teams dominating my side I'm happy to take a punt on one in each position.

    F- Deeny (Watford)
    M- MRitchie (B'mouth)
    D - a 4.5m defender
G - a 4.5m goalkeeper to rotate with someone like Krul.

I think the Liverpool players offer far more value Jonty, they're the best if your looking at picking up stock from a club around that level.

Depends on the price. Milner could be great if around the 6m mark. But at 7m he has to deliver much more than a promoted punt.

I think Ings will be priced higher. Plus and more worryingly he'll be rotated.

If Liverpool don't buy a top striker I think I'll be steering clear, If Sturridge can stay fit that'll be a boost, but I think the likes of Milner will be no goes for me because he'll likely be priced too high for someone who could well just be playing CM in a poor goalscoring side. :/

Maximum of 4 but more likely 2 or 3 I would think.

      A £4.5m 5th midfielder and a pick and mix of the cheapest just-about-nailed-on defenders/goalkeepers.

I'm hoping there will be enough cheapies from sides that have already played in the prem this season and I won't have to take a punt on players I don't know well or if they will make the step up.
Probably over optimistic on my part and like years past we'll all be forced into taking punts on players with "Great pre-season form" only to have to find the alternatives within budget when they crash and burn.

      Some bench fodder in defence.
The correct 4.5 mid (initially was an Albrighton man when it should have been Boyd)
      Barring fixtures, no forward.

When will we learn about the reliability issues of cheap forwards?

Based on the last couple of years, I definitely will be going for a nailed on promoted striker and sticking with them for a few weeks. Nobody more established is likely to offer the same value, and I think it's a great help for team balance, as opposed to going too top heavy up front, which is always tempting.

That's part of why he's such a terrible signing. Lambert will likely stay, and then there is Origi to come into the fold and Jerome Sinclair needs to start getting games. The depth was already there.

Sounds like Llorente would be available for around 5.8 million, Spurs or Arsenal are linked. At 30 years of age, he's not a player who has ever relied on his pace so he could have another 3 seasons in him easily.

So we'll use the season he's spent most on the bench to judge him? 😕 That's like using his final season at Bilbao. He offers a hell of a lot option wise, allows a different route to be taken in attack which is important, and useful at only 6 million.

How different an option is he to Giroud, really?

And 85 goals in 262 games for Bilbao?

Llorente best whoscored rating over a season- 7.35, and that was 5 years ago. He scored 18 goals in a full season.

Giroud's best whoscored rating over a season- 7.59 3 years ago with 21 goals in a full season.

I don't see how a 30 year old, who is being benched at Juventus, is actually an improvement on Giroud, let alone worth £6m + wages.

If we buy a striker, he should be mobile and quick, imo, and that's only if we don't plan on using Theo there.

I never said for him to start ahead of Giroud btw, was simply pointing out that his finishing is better than this season's figures suggest, because this season he was specifically tasked with holding the ball up and knocking it down for the other strikers.

As for options, he lets any team adopt a more high ball tactic should they need it, as well as power against teams who park the bus (indeed, in La Liga it was all known that the Barcelona defenders hated playing against him the most of any striker) which is damn useful. And seeing as they plan on using Theo there, in my opinion, having him as another option means Arsenal cover nearly all bases. They'll have pace, hold up and power for when they need it. Though I'd personally rather see Spurs get him, if he wants to leave.

                    Okay. 🙂

I'd be perfectly happy for Arsenal to go into next season with the current options personally. I'd just like a defensive midfielder, and a centre back that is good on the ball!

Then we'll win the treble. 😎

See it's that aspiration that I think he fits 🙂 Arsenal are a team that more increasingly will experience others parking the bus or going out to injure their players. Would be nice to have a 6ft 5 behemoth, with Spanish technique, for those situations 😉

Defensive midfielder they absolutely must sort out first and foremost imo!

He'd suit Spurs just fine as Kane could use a target man to play off of. Arsenal he's fine for hold up play that they need but also gives them a lot more strength, something that is useful for plan B.

He'd do okay at Pool, though slower strikers like Balo or Lambo have struggled. As I say above, though, he adds a different option to a forward line should teams need it!

Two players who I'll get in irrespective of price but still hoping they will be a little below the maximim eg Ivanovic - 7.5m is ok for me, 8m a little a annoying. Hazard 11.5 is ok, 12m probably realistic. More and he becomes annoying.

for forwards I'm most interested in a good third striker of 6m or below who can allow me to get Hazard and Ivanovic - so Deeney or similar.

Yeah, a 8m Ivanovic(scored twice yesterday for Serbia) and a 12m Hazard will put the cat among the pigeons.

        Ivanovic over Terry?
        Hazard over Fabregas?

Surely price plays a part to some extent. Historically Terry has always cost more (and scored more points) than Ivanovic. Fabregas seems to start well...

Yep...need to see the differences. I think this could be the first season where we start to see Terry getting the odd rest. Be interesting to see if they get another centreback in as cover or whether Zouma gets eased in more.

If Fabregas is 9.5m and Hazard 12m then yep I'd have to really take a good look at that decision. But if Hazard is that price and Costa is 10m then Costa could swing it. As I've found before with Drogba and Malouda getting the right Chelsea players is always instrumental to a good or bad start. Fingers crossed I finally get it right one year.

He is a good player to have. Don't hold it against him that he's not a world class 30 million pound signing. Hold it against the fooken sepos.
Personally I'm happy to have ings and milner.
I think we'll have to wait for some sales before we see a major signing. Hopefully they can find suitors for balotelli, borini and lambchop

The club are happy to keep Lambert for another year though, we didn't need him, he'd be 3rd choice at best and that's what Origi and Sinclair should be for now.

Yeh, I think he's a good signing. (although whether he is good value is dependent on the compensation fee)

He works hard, he's young, he's English, he's technically good, good movement, good finisher, good attitude and most importantly doesn't get injured.

He's not going to be a star player, but he will be a very useful player IMO.

Exactly. Better than the backup we've got too. At worst he's a good squad player but he's years away from his prime so could be even more.

First Lambert was bought to replace Suarez, and now Ings. Do you think Danny can fill the void?

      1. Doolittle

No one can replace Suarez, he's the best striker in the world. Regardless of that, Liverpool's recruitment since he left has been appalling.

More realistically, they need a striker around Sturridge's level who isn't constantly injured. They haven't even managed to come close to that.

He is an upgrade over everyone bar Sturridge. He is good with the ball and can score plus quite young. Further, they got him real cheap with only compensation fee to be paid. Shouldn't complain, IMO.

Mate one has to be realistic. Look at recent finishes apart from that 2nd. We aren't a top 4 team anymore. Chelsea and city just bought their way there before ffp. Arsenal are the blueprint to follow if Liverpool want to be great again. These owners couldn't give a sh1t though

    1. Wilshere Knowledge
      • 10 Years

It's probably dependent on the team he plays for, and the player himself.

QPR at home for example gave a decent game to most teams, but a team like Aston Villa were rarely any good against top teams. (from memory)

Unless he is good enough (I dont watch the Championship), I don't think playing a relatively poor player each week is the best use of resources.

Thanks lads, if I get Deeney I'll probably play every game, at least a forwad cheapie should have a better floor to their points (min of 1) and better upside than cheapie defender (can go into negative figures). Like having peno takers, in itself worth maybe 25 points over the campaign.

So how long until another team manages to get into the top 4?

Man U, Arsenal, Chelsea and Man City are all in such strong positions relative to other teams, I can't quite see where other teams can try and make up ground... (I think Man U were very lucky this year btw, but they have seemingly unlimited resources)

This season would realistically be their weakest, a lot of transition etc. And as Wilshere says, the financial power now is going to be very useful for them.

Spending vast sums will still accumulate large debts, though very manageable it doesn't mean United can afford to spend, spend and spend some more every single year.

            • 14 Years

Well, an example kind of indicates just how much spending they might be capable of. The Addidas deal is worth £75 million a season to United. The Chevy deal is estimated somewhere between £47 and £53 million a season. So these two deals, ignoring TV revenue, ticket sales etc. still generate over £100 million a season at the moment.

Now I'm not saying they can go off and buy a new XI every season, nor should they, but the money is there to overhaul the club, the big reason that LVG is there in the first place.

A team may sneak in for one season, as Liverpool did last year, but I can't see anyone doing it for a sustained period of time. Being honest, I can't even see anyone breaking it for one year. Those 4 are just so far ahead of the rest, and the gap is widening. They're bring in players like Fabregas, Costa, Sanchez, Di Maria (I know that hasn't worked out so far, but still), and they're all going to strengthen further this summer. Their biggest challengers, Liverpool and Spurs, are battling over players like Danny Ings.

By the time they've got their act together, how far behind will they be? Last week on here, we were doing combined Liverpool/Arsenal/City/Utd 11s, and mine didn't have a single Liverpool player. Bar Sakho and Coutinho, none of them even came into consideration. They're so far behind, and have been for a number of years bar last season, and they aren't going to get a player of Suarez's quality again.

Fell behind 20 odd years ago, had they got their act together then the 2 biggest clubs in the country would be United and Liverpool, and based on where we were then I'd go so far to say as we'd be the biggest. Only modernising now will add up to nowt.

Mind they really just need to sort the footballing side of things out now, commercially the club are doing very well, stadium expansion is underway and the club should continue to progress, once we become self sufficient we should be alright, we're on the verge of competing, but then we have the Brodge to mess all that up for us.

Indeed, Liverpool's history in English football was unparalleled, but that is no longer enough to attract people. Now, most of Liverpool's transfer targets wouldn't have been born when they last won the title, and being a big club historically holds very little meaning to a foreign player that wants to play at the highest level.

I think living in Liverpool is a turn off for a lot of players too. I'm from Liverpool and love it, but if players are getting the choice to live in Madrid, Barcelona, London or Liverpool, Liverpool isn't going to be the most appealing. It's sad, but I do think it's a factor (as it was with Sanchez).

Indeed, in hindsight the last 20 years has seen us just coasting, while we saw Arsenal, United and Chelsea rise to prominence, it hit the fan as things got a lot more competitive recently. But thankfully we aren't too far off the top sides now, though we are massively on the pitch as you say.

On the city too, Liverpool is a far more appealing place than most, especially Manchester. 😉 It's just a shame its only really the players that go to Liverpool or Everton then get to see it for the lovely place it is.

At least you aren't us (Everton). We were one of the big 3 or 4 when the Premier League was created, but have been left about 30 years behind everyone else with no major investment. Barring a billionaire investment, our time fighting at the top is sadly gone.

Watford managed only 26 points from 22 games against their fellow top half sides, but 63 points in their 24 matches against bottom half teams - they have some good players, but are flat track bullies of the highest order. They'll probably make a few more good signings, but I think they're going to really struggle to step up against quality opposition.

      Meh. Results against top 6:

Norwich (h): L 3-0 (poor performance, but match turned on Hoolahan diving for a penalty)
Norwich (a): L 3-0 (defender wrongly sent off at 0-0)
      Bournemouth (h): 0-0
Bournemouth (a): L 2-0 (defender wrongly sent off after 1 minute)
      Boro (h): W 2-0
      Boro (a): 1-1
Ipswich (h + a): L 1-0 (we struggled against sides that were very well organized and parked the bus)
Derby: (h): L 2-1 (when Derby were on fire and we had just hired our 4th manager)
      Derby (a): 2-2 (had 10 men...again)
      Brentford (h + a): W 2-1

Like you say, not a great record, although there were mitagating circumstances for quite a few. I'm confident that some of our players will actually perform better against PL opposition though - most of them are dirty foreigners not used to the rough and tumble of the Championship. From a fantasy prospect, we will score goals, and Deeney will probably be involved in half of them.

Wow, this makes it look worse! Not a single goal scored against the teams that came up with you - those are likely to be crucial games this season. Even if your mitigating circumstances are all true there's an awful lot of work to be done...

Sorry, Bournemouth (H) should be 1-1. Trust me mate, scoring goals won't be our problem, conceding them will be. That's only 4 matches anyway, hardly a convincing sample size.

As in James Wilson? I dunno, different players, Wilson seems faster and plays off the shoulder. Don't be fooled by Deeney's size though, he's quick and has good feet. I'm obviously looking at him through yellow tinted spectacles but he's a very good striker. F**k knows if he can actually do it in the PL, but as a Championship player he looked better than Austin and Ings.

I don't doubt the style will be trying to outscore rather than outdefend but those results you've listed to counter the opening post just add weight to it!

Anyway, I expect considerable comings and goings at all the promoted teams so things may be very different next year.

They really don't add to it, and I wasn't trying to counter it, just shed some more light on our results. Lots of Watford fans highlighted our bad top half record throughout the year, but in the run in we really came together and played much better against those sides (see Wolves away, Derby away, Boro home)

I think you could be a lot like QPR, conceding lots of goals, with Deeney doing an Austin and being a great pick regardless. I guess you could be right about some of the imports being better suited to a less physical style of play, but Flores has a very big job to do.

Yeah I could see that happening. It's annoying that we've changed manager again - we played so many different formations last season and switching manager again just adds another element of doubt. Flores seems like a good manager though - if you had told me 4 years ago we would have a Europa League winning manager I definitely wouldn't have believed you...

Thankd Ludo, top poster. I love flat track bullies - if they pick their battles, they will be cheap yet possibly good value. A bit like Sunderland who are rubbish yet get a good share of cleansheets. Stoke in contrast are better yet tend to concede more frequently.

His final ball is often poor. It's frustrating as when he has the confidence to beat his man then he's an outlet for the whole game. But so often that's not the case. Seems like he always performs for Scotland though

Juventus are ready to sell Chilean midfielder Arturo Vidal this summer, according to Corriere della Sera.

The 28-year-old is thought to have attracted the interest of a number of sides around Europe but it appears Real Madrid a ready to make a bid of €40m for his services.

You are looking in every line of the team,” Martinez told the club’s official wesbite. “In goal we are strong. Joel Robles showed this season that he is a keeper with a lot of potential and we are privileged to have Tim Howard.

“So it is about adding a player per line and making sure they are specific profiles and suit what the team requires. That makes sure the work that we have over the last six or seven months since December and January is paying off now in this window and we are in a position to make bringing in those players a reality.”
