Palace’s Joel Ward is ruled out for up to four weeks. Arsenal receive a central defensive injury boost, Jefferson Montero is passed fit for Swansea, Mame Biram Diouf misses training ahead of Stoke’s trip to the Emirates and Thibaut Courtois is sidelined for Chelsea with a knee injury.

Arsene Wenger has received a boost following the international break, with Laurent Koscielny fit after a minor back injury and Per Mertesacker also back in full training. Danny Welbeck has suffered a setback, which is expected to see him sidelined until Christmas, while Jack Wilshere is progressing slowly and remains unavailable for the weekend.

Cyrstal Palace have suffered a blow with news that right-back Joel Ward will miss the next 3-4 weeks after sustaining an injury in training. Marouane Chamakh remains sidelined for the Eagles’ clash with City, whilst Connor Wickham will be assessed after sustaining a knock.

Everton will monitor Bryan Oviedo “right up until kick-off” as the Costa Rican attempts to overcome a knee problem. Brendan Galloway has returned to fitness to boost the Toffees defensive options, while Tim Howard and Funes Mori will be assessed having arrived back late from international duty. Tom Cleverley could return from injury after six-to-eight weeks, according to Martinez.

Tony Pulis has confirmed that Saido Berahino is “in contention” to face Southampton at the Hawthorns this weekend.

Thibaut Courtois is set for a period on the sidelines with a knee injury sustained in training for Chelsea. The Belgian could be out for up to ten weeks, according to reports in the local press.

Tim Sherwood has confirmed that Jack Grealish, Idrissa Gana and Adama Traore remain doubtful for the King Power trip, adding that the latter is behind Grealish in his fitness battle. Gabby Agbonlahor has recovered from illness and is available for selection against the Foxes.

Mame Biram Diouf failed to train for Stoke yesterday, and remains doubtful for the Emirates trip with a hamstring injury. Marko Arnautovic (ankle) and Glen Johnson will also be assessed.

Eddie Howe could be without Charlie Daniels for Bournemouth’s trip to Norwich, with the left-back rated as “touch and go” with a knee injury. Harry Arter has returned to training, with Howe optimistic that the midfielder will be available for selection within a month.

Watford have confirmed that new signing Victor Ibarbo is unlikely to feature at the weekend due to visa issues. Fellow signing Oulare’s pitch time is also in question due to a lack of match fitness.

Swans Boss Garry Monk has a fully fit squad to choose from for the trip to Vicarage Road, after revealing that Jefferson Montero has returned to training and is available for the weekend.

Daniel Sturridge has returned to full training for Liverpool, though it’s uncertain whether he’ll be fit to feature in Saturday’s trip to Old Trafford.

Sadio Mane and Cuco Martina have arrived late from international duty, with Ronald Koeman confirming that the pair will return to training today. Koeman has also hinted that Victor Wanyama could start away to West Brom, following the transfer speculation which led to his unavailability prior to the international break. The Saints boss also hopes that Ryan Bertrand will return to normal training from next Monday.

I reckon I'm getting De Gea as I've played my WC and don't want to be forced into another keeper transfer in a few weeks (my second keeper is McCarthy). If I still had WC to play or a more secure back up keeper I'd probably say Begovic.

  5. GWK 5 Falling Stars

    Falling stars GW5…

Usual rules…Falling stars is a fictitious squad/team made up entirely of players who have fallen in price since GW1 and are collectively valued less than the 100 mill original budget. Beating the GW avg is the target….that and making a mockery of chasing those 0.1’s.

A good start last week with 50pts against a GW avg of 36 pts

    This week’s picks…

    DDG (5.3)

    Rose (5.3) Mertesacker (5.4) Wisdom (4.3)

    Sterling ©(8.9) Ozil (v)(8.4) Lanzini (5.3) Hazard (11.4)

    Rooney (10.4) Borini (5.4) Kane (9.4)

    (Pantilimon (4.9) Sinclair (4.9) Jagielka (5.4) Holebas (4.4))

Saving 1.9 mill on opening GW values with a further 0.9 itb…

Gone for a very risky Sterling ©..I can see headlines at Palace, one way or another, with a KDB debut(?) and a returning Aguero after an outstanding couple of internationals. Sterling will be facing a second choice RB for the afternoon and add in that Aguero may find himself subbed off early and then it should be Sterling up top I’m thinking…

Sticking with Rooney…If he can’t get fired up for Liverpool at home then LVG really has killed off all the passion from United..We’ll see.

Got a chance. Seems the City game is gonna be set for one of those real humdinger performances with KDB playing his first game...or the opposite because Palace are pretty damned good. They'll have their work cut out in defending against Bolasie and co.

Yeah...it was a toss up. the deputy RB for Palace swung it. If you remember when City played Everton they targeted their young deputy LB with most of the play going down that side. I think they may do the same for Kelly at Palace.

Personnel aside, I think I disagree with yourself on this sentiment (first time for everything). I see your logic when transfers are so precious and we've been relatively fortunate with injuries and suspensions thus far, but surely in buying any player, you have a medium term policy with them and Bego fits that perfectly. Given the upside of a 5m Chelsea keeper, to look back and to have not bought him because you "didn't want to tie a transfer up further down the line" doesn't seem sensible to me.

        1. Pasqualinho
          • 16 Years
          10 years, 3 months ago

Fair point - and if they were racking up the clean sheets I'm sure I'd agree with you. But I wouldn't get him purely because I only change my GKs during wildcards unless the circumstances are extreme (and I'm not sure the chance to bring Begovic in at 5.0 is extreme enough) - it's a personal choice for me.

Possibly. I do think Madrid tried to be clever by just not bothering to sign him, knowing no one else would come in for him that late and thinking they could just pick him up for nothing in January. It'd be hilarious if he stayed now.

if he wants to play until January he better sign a contract. Quite a well used strategy by clubs these days to not play players whose contracts are due to expire at the season end.

This will help his Spanish prospects, Utd would get a good fee at the season end if he still leaves (possibly with a release clause) and the player gets a higher wage for the meantime.

I think you have to question, that if this is a question, why do you own Ivanovic? He's the kind of price where he needs to play pretty much every game and if you don't, you could get a rotation buddy for Cedric for a whole lot less.

IF you are on a WC bring Begovic. If you are not then hes not worth a FT (unless both your keepers out) and he is most definitely not worth a hit.

Having sold Memphis, pleased to see him drop to 8.4m. Just need him to fire now then I can get him bac in for Yaya, and have 0.5m in the bank for Lindegaard as second keeper doubling up with Myhill.

I'm tempted to get Memphis for the 'pool game. I can see him turning in a performance. Anyone agree? Or stick with Yaya and have 2 FT's next week...? Can always sell Benteke but next week he's at home which is less appealing..

It's Liverpool at home. Remember the City game in April. Utd went a goal down then flew at City. I feel a performance coming and on that basis one of Memphis or Rooney are 'due'.
