Paddy Says – Gameweek 13

Back from the international break, we turn to Paddy Power once again in search of a bookmakers perspective on where the goals will and won’t be scored over the Gameweek.

Before we dip into their Clean Sheet and Anytime Scorer odds, those without a Paddy account should know that there’s another raft of big offers on show to cater for your fluttering needs.

First up, Paddy’s regular weekend acca is offering new customers a massive 18/1 on wins for Arsenal, Man City, Juventus and Bayern Munich. This bet also comes in tandem with the offer of a free £10 bet every Monday for the rest of the season when you bet £10 weekly.

Next up, Paddy have two big live matches covered. In this evening’s big Etihad clash, you can get odds of 12/1 on a Man City win over Liverpool with both teams scoring. Meanwhile in Sunday’s encounter at the Lane, Paddy are dangling odds of 5/1 on a Spurs win over West Ham.

Seemingly guaranteed a start against Liverpool by Manuel Pellegrini, Sergio Aguero is immediately re-instated at the top of Paddy’s anytime scorer rankings – a sight that will no doubt become familiar over the coming weeks.

While the Argentine seems unlikely to get a 90 minute run-out on his return from a hamstring injury, Paddy clearly feel that Aguero will take little time to find his groove – even against an improved Liverpool side. Aguero’s team-mate, Kevin de Bruyne, is out at 2.40 – the second ranked midfielder in Paddy’s table.

Harry Kane pushes Aguero very close. The Spurs striker is priced at 1.83 for an anytime goal in Sunday’s London derby with West Ham, having netted five in his last three outings. While the Hammer’s boast strong away form, it should be noted that their defence has failed to earn a clean sheet since Gameweek 5.

Although he’s notched just two goals in 10 starts, Diego Costa (2.00) is handed short odds ahead of Chelsea’s favourable Stamford Bridge match-up against Norwich City. While Chelsea and Costa are struggling for form, only Bournemouth (13) have conceded more goals than the Canaries (nine) over the last four Gamweeks.

Romelu Lukaku and Jamie Vardy are both tipped at 2.10 for their ties against Aston Villa and Newcastle respectively. The Everton striker will fancy his chances of scoring for the third successive outing when Remi Garde’s men roll up to Goodison Park off the back of one win in 12. Meanwhile, the white-hot Vardy could equal Ruud van Nistelrooy’s 10-match scoring streak with a goal at St James’ Park, although fitness doubts surrounding a hip injury linger ahead of today’s encounter.

Southampton’s Graziano Pelle is tied with Arsenal duo Alexis Sanchez and Olivier Giroud at 2.20. The Saint’s striker has claimed four goals in six St Mary’s starts to this point but has notched just once in his last four and is up against a Stoke City outfit in fine form. Mark Hughes men arrive on the south coast having kept three consecutive clean sheets on the road.

Meanwhile, Sanchez and Giroud lock horns with West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns. While the Baggies defence has kept six shut-outs this season, no team has shipped more goals on home turf (12), which suggests that the Gunners’ attacking contingent may well be afforded a bevy of clear-cut opportunities. Giroud has three goals in his last four league starts, while Sanchez is the top ranked midfielder in Paddy’s listing, despite blanking in his last three outings.

Chelsea and Southampton (both 2.00) have been pinpointed by Paddy as the top defences heading into Gameweek 13.

The Blues’ case is bolstered by the fact they’ve surrendered just three big chances in the last four Gameweeks, while the Saints square up to a Potters outfit thats in strong defensive form, but remains joint-bottom for goals scored (10) so far this season.

Everton, Crystal Palace and Arsenal are priced a little longer (both 2.10) for their head-to-heads.

The Toffees will be encouraged by the revelation that Villa tallied the fewest shots on target (six) across the previous four Gameweeks. Meanwhile, Palace are matched up against a Sunderland side that places second-bottom for shots inside the box (64) this term. Finally, Arsenal make the trip to take on West Brom having conceded just 30 shots from inside their penalty area on the road – the fewest of any Premier League side.

Manchester United (2.25) will look to secure their fifth successive clean sheet when they travel to Watford, while Tottenham (2.29) will do well to rebuff the advances of a Hammers outfit that’s only drawn one blank this campaign.

Propping up Paddy’s table, Man City (2.40) will strive to register their first shut-out in five home matches when Liverpool pay a visit; Jurgen Klopp’s side have registered five goals in their last three outings.
