The Dugout Discussion – Sunderland vs Man United

We train our focus on the Stadium of Light for the curtain-raiser this Gameweek, as Sunderland play host to Manchester United. The Black Cats are winless in four match-ups but will be buoyed by the nature of their comeback against Liverpool, while the Red Devils have failed to post successive wins since Gameweek 13.

Man United neither excelled nor struggled on the attacking front over the last four Gameweeks, ranking in the middle of the pack for attempts (47) and shots inside the box (25). At the other end of the pitch, Louis van Gaal’s troops continue to prove a tough nut to crack, conceding just two goals, the fifth-fewest shots inside the box (26) and the joint-third-fewest big chances (four). That being said, they place eighth for goals conceded in away clashes (17), exposing a degree of vulnerability away from Old Trafford.

Sunderland were the league’s most infrequent shooters across the previous four Gameweeks, mustering five fewer attempts (33) and three fewer shots inside the box (15) than the rest of the field. Moreover, their paucity of creativity is underlined by the fact they placed joint-bottom for key passes (24). From a defensive standpoint, the Wearsiders need to tighten up, having conceded eight goals over that stretch. Intriguingly, however, only four sides have allowed fewer goals on their own turf (13) than Sunderland this season.

All these Man United articles about them being the richest/biggest club in the world. Doesn't count for much.

It's a bit like being Hugh Hefner.

You can have a nice bit of talent off your arm but when push comes to shove you still can't get it up.

What's up with the new articles being posted so quickly? Are they all queued up and with no Preamble they are appearing more quickly?

How does LvG still have a job?

    - Spent over £250 million on new players
    - Knocked out of the League Cup in Round 2 by MK Dons last year
    - Finished 17 points off top spot last year
    - Knocked out of the League Cup in Round 4 by Middlesbrough this year
    - Knocked out of the Champions League at Group Stage this year
    - 3 wins in the last 13 games in PL this year
    - Currently 6 points off Champions League places this year

Although it is quite boring having so few players playing today, it is quite fun seeing other fairly highly owned picks failing.

Ighalo was 6.3.. he was 6.2 for me yesterday, how did he drop to 6.1? Should he not be 6.2 after dropping?

As far as I was concerned I wasnt going to lose value.

A player has to rise 0.2 for you to get a 0.1 rise, so when he drops back 0.1 you lose your price rise

God new lows have been reached. Should have won last week, and got something today. Top four gone.

I took the worst decision of my life by waiting on that KdB drop (in hope of some stinking DGW25).

Lost me the money needed to buy Bertrand, and now I am stuck on this Cedric Soares problem.
