The Numbers Game – 2015/16 Review – Chelsea

Our series of members articles that evaluate the form of each team over 2015/16 before assessing their chief protagonists continues with Chelsea.

Having clinched the Premier League crown in 2014/15, the Stamford Bridge outfit suffered a disastrous title defence and, after losing nine of their first 16 matches, replaced Jose Mourinho with Guus Hiddink in December. The Dutchman helped steady the ship and ultimately guided the Blues into tenth spot, some 31 points behind champions Leicester.

Sorry for going off topic but did anyone see Roger Federer's post match presser? He's a complete gentleman when he wins but man he's got to be one of the sorest losers out there. Murray can come over as dour at the best of times but Djoko and Nadal were never as ungracious in defeat.

Being a sore loser is a good thing IMO. Djoko loses infrequently so he can afford not to be sore , Nadal knows his days are numbered. These guys want to be the best , if you aren't sore when you lose there is something wrong.

He gave credit to Raonic and he does when he is outplayed by his opponent but he wasn't today imo. Unlucky not to convert one of 3 break points in the 4th set and 2 consecutive double faults. Thats really so not like him. He mentioned that. Plus it was clear he was having a bit of a problem with his leg. He was unlucky today not outplayed.

He is also very disappointed because it was a huge chance for GS18 which he might not get again with Djoko around.

So El Loco quits again 😆 & it looks like Lazio are taking legal action as well, which is understandable: http://www.espnfc.us/lazio/story/2909801/lazio-say-marcelo-bielsa-has-resigned-amid-argentina-vacancy

https://twitter.com/paalpot75/status/751388297067368448 : "Reports in ARG that Bielsa called 5 clubs with players he was promised by Lazio, and learned that Lazio had never contacted them."

Wouldn't be surprised if it were true as a similar thing happened with Marseille's board. It led to him quitting after he signed for another season, then quit after the first match (which was a crushing loss). The club were trying to change details in the contract that they agreed to already. Didn't accept & all trust went down the toilet. On top of that, in the summer transfer window before that, they didn't sign of the players he wanted .

Pretty shitty from Claudio Lotito though, & no surprise Bielsa would leave here after being lied to. You don't mess with a guy who is as extremely demanding as a coach as Bielsa. Someone that wants full liberties within the club whether it be through changing the youth training in Marseille, or being highly influential in the construction of Athletic's training centre, etc.

People are speculating whether Martino's resignation from coaching Argentina a few days ago had anything to do with it. Part of me doubts that considering the train-wreck & toxic organization that the AFA has been of late. Plus, I don't think they'd be willing to guarantee him the control & freedoms he'd want to exercise with the team. Hard to imagine him being too trustworthy after all that's occurred.

Bielsa holding the key to that team with a lot of authority would be one of the scariest sights in world football. There's a lot of untapped potential in that team (moreso in midfield), & I'd hate to come up against you guys playing a similar game to us.

If Argentina adapted Chile's style, they would be the best in the world.

They kinda did it in the first Copa game against Chile. High pressing.

I doubt Argentina will ever play like Chile with the players they have. Mostly flair players who don't like to defend. Aguero, Higuain, ADM, Lamela. A high intensity high pressing game doesn't suit them. They also lack the physicality to employ such a tactic.

Following up on the best keeper in the world post, I don't know if you guys follow Serie A but imo Handanovic is better than the keepers mentioned. He is the only reason Inter were winter champions last season. Makes outstanding saves, magestic on penalty saves, very few mistakes and he has played in a Inter team that has been very poor defensively for a while now. Inter's decline in the last few seasons is why he is so underrated. He has been the best keeper in Serie A (neck to neck with Buffon) for a few years now. As for Neuer, I believe he was better at Schalke. He rarely has anything to do for most games of the Buli because of Bayern's dominance and their possession game. That can stop a keeper developing imo.

You can select home or away only fixtures and also sort by rotation, so to rotate two teams by only their home fixtures

Selecting home works better. Picking Swansea shows GW1,3,5 are away. The top 6 rotation play at home in 1,3,5.

Say you pick home only, click Leicester and sort by rotation

Has ARS playing LIV and SOU first

But BUR playing SWA and HUL

Or MIDD playing STO and CPL

are better picks surely? and they are bluer fixtures in the ticker also
