The penultimate team in our series of members’ articles, which review the numbers behind the 2015/16 season, are West Brom.

We get our analysis underway by assessing the Baggies team statistics and compare them to the rest of the Premier League and their previous league campaign. We then take a close look at their first-team squad, main goal threats and creative sources with one eye on the season kick-off in just over two weeks’ time.

The Baggies finished in fourteenth position last time out – just six points clear of the drop zone – after a dire run of form saw them draw four and lose five of their final nine league fixtures.

Pulis’ side struggled for a cutting edge and managed to find the net on just 34 occasions – down on their 38 goals from 2014/15 and a tally superior only to basement-dwellers Villa.

I remember seeing someone had done a really nice spreadsheet showing all the fixtures by week, colour-coded for easiness of the game - but I can't find the link. Could anyone point me to it please?

    thanks 🙂

    How we looking?

    Foster Heaton
    Azpi Shaw Williams Souare Friend
    Mahrez Mkhitaryan Ayew Gradel 4.5
    Aguero Costa Austin

Williams will likely become Stones if he moves to City. All suggestions very welcome.

Decent. Would want reassurance from preseason that Austin is nailed.

With Chelsea not having any European football to worry about, is Hazard the pick of the FPL midfielders?

If not, who will outscore him over the course of the season?

Is Dazzy ok? He didn't take Martial unfollowing Man Utd on social media very well. I'm genuinely worried about the fella

Evening all. First time on in an age. Hope you're all having fun tinkering....best bit of the season, this: anything is possible.

For what it's worth, here's my latest draft. It will doubtless change a LOT between now and kick off...

    Valdes, Heaton
Terry, Shaw, Funes Mori, PVA, Smith
    Silva, Mahrez, Bojan, Fischer, Hojbjerg
    Ageuro, Rooney, Costa

Think whatever happens I'm going to go big up front to start with. Had Ageuro, Ibra and Vardy before but that just seemed excessive...

    Happy tinkering y'all.

Perhaps look to free up to funds to field a slightly stronger midfield? Maybe cut down to three 5m+ defenders and get a few 4.5s or even 4m bench fodder. Forget this suggestion if you are adamant you want a 4-3-3 formation...

Probably right...defenders all seem 0.5 cheaper than you'd expect so I've stocked up!

Solid team, not very template which is good, but I don't think Rooney in a role behnd the striker is an option worth the 9m. I would perhaps downgrade him to upgrade one of the mids (Ayew, Tadić, Sigurdsson, Mirallas - if nailed all seem like good options).

Siggy just seemed so consistent last season when ayew dropped off, plus set pieces and pens sways it. If Ayew remains upfront then it makes this decision much harder.

Same here. Ayew as a forward or Sigurdsson with every set piece possible.
Are they in for a new striker even?

Hadn't realised how high up the midfielder rankings he was for last year. To say he's 2M cheaper than Payet he looks very cheap..or Payet looks expensive. Either way...

Oh cmon. Whatever the price, you tend to play your best players. Otamendi and Kompany are world class CBs, Stones will be there (if) as a very solid back-up and since Kompany is so injury prone, he'll be a worthy investment.

Thoughts on this team. starting to take shape I think:

    Adrian/Jaku
    Shaw/Fuchs/Baines/Mcauley/Friend
    Miki/Hazard/Siggy/Feghouli/Leko
    Lukaku/Aguero/Gray

Think Feghouli has looked very good in pre season (I'm a west ham fan) and should definitely start the first few games of the season. Has scored a couple of goals already too. Can always downgrade one of my 4.5 defs to a 4 and try to upgrade to townsend or shaquiri or deulo. Any advice appreciated

Can anyone deny any of this?

City is gonna play offensive football given Gvardiola is their manager, at least 2 offensive players are essential, Kun and Kdb preferably.

Utd is Mou's this and years to come, meaning they won't score or concede alot--->Mikh or Zlatan, one is enough.

Konte's defence is essential which means Terry or Azpi>Shaw.

I think United will be much more offensive this year, due to criticism recieved the last few years. Also, it is generally a misconception that Mourinho's teams don't offer attacking threat and just play defensively. Chelsea and Real scored many goals under Mourinho.

Mikhi and Zlatan also combine for a whopping 2.5M less than Aguero and KDB, that's a lot of funds that can be used elswhere so early in the season. I personally feel I can't afford the City duo.

Feels like I have all the eggs in one basket and the rest of the team sufers

I got Ibra, Kun, Kdb and my team looks just fine mate. Mikh an Zlatan is an overkill really. Pep's teams play offensive football and that's a fact.
