Suspensions

The FA have this afternoon charged Sergio Aguero with alleged violent conduct following his altercation with Winston Reid in City’s 3-1 win over West Ham at the Etihad last weekend.

City’s top scorer now has until 6pm tomorrow to contest the charge and, if found guilty, is set to serve a three-match domestic ban.

He would sit out the Gameweek 4 and 5 encounters against United and Bournemouth, as well as City’s EFL Cup trip to Swansea on September 20.

Aguero would then be available for the Gameweek 6 visit to the Liberty four days later.

Given the nature of the altercation, Aguero’s flailing arm gives him little hope of avoiding suspension.

Owned by over 52% of Fantasy Premier League managers, he’s already suffered significant sales after withdrawing from Argentina duties with a calf problem.

Should confirmation come tomorrow, the exodus will kick into overdrive as we look to spend the budget freed up by his departure from our squads.

For the 43.2% who don’t yet own him, Zlatan Ibrahimovic offers an easy swap for those who are seeking a place-holder for the City striker.

Chelsea’s Diego Costa looks reinvigorated under Antonio Conte and, along with Wayne Rooney, is one of only two forwards to produce returns in each of the first three Gameweeks.

The Aguero news comes at a time where Eden Hazard and Alexis Sanchez served a reminder of their big-hitter potential in midfield with double-figure weekend returns.

Whilst the temptation to invest the Aguero funds heavily in midfield is strong, keeping the door open for an easy return looks a wise move given his form under Pep Guardiola.

Really worth transfering out Aguero and use another transfer to get him back after 2 matches?

When you get him back will depend on the injury as well.

Just realised I only have 1 midfielder who hasn't already risen. Sounds like a good thing but it means I need to decide very quickly who I want to keep on my wildcard as I don't have room to bring in all the risers I *might* want - Sanchez/Ozil/Cazorla...

Hmm, need to do some serious thinking now.

Haha, I don't want them all but I might want any one of them. Ideally I need to decide before price rises and it looks like Sanchez and Cazorla are rising tonight with Ozil rising tomorrow.

Unfortunately your 0.1 point rises will be meaningless when you sell them on your WC

The point is that I will probably want to have one of those Arsenal options in my wildcard team but I don't know which one yet. I can't bring them all in as I'd have to give up value on other players I might like to keep. Hence the dilemma. I'm not interested in trying to find 0.2 risers as there probably won't be any.

Better be quick as you say because those 3 are likely to rise 0.1 in the next day day or so, assuming your existing 0.1 risers are not looking like rising again and compensate ?

Given Everton's fixtures I think this is pretty attractive and what I hope to do. Of course, we could all end up with Ibra and Kun again in four weeks, but as long as you are only two transfers away from being able to do that it's worth the risk, I think.

Benching Aguero actually makes the most sense. You won't lose value because he won't drop below 13.0 and you also won't get deducted points if you already made your transfer. I am benching aguero and so should you!

Considering only your own team, you won't directly lose TV in the long run, but 13m on the bench is very likely to cost you points elsewhere. Not to mention alot of other people will make 0.4m if they sell him for 13.1 and buy him back after a 0.4m fall. So relatively, you will lose team value, and probably points too.

If it's 0.2/0.3 that's basically a defender upgrade or money towards a third striker upgrade.

Value is everything when it involves the price of one of the games key assets imo.

So now the best way to do is:

    - wait for international break to see if any player will get injured
    - use 2FT to get rid of Aguero + some poor mid (Townsend etc.)
    - use WC later to bring Aguero back

    right?

    1. Zikry
      • 11 Years

Going to wildcard now and have 2 FT ready for when Aguero is back. Catch price rises now with people dumping Aguero for a lot of other options.

It doesn't look likely tonight according to fplstatistics, if I am understanding the figures right.

In any case, even if he did drop tonight unless you bought him for 13.1 you may as well hold to give yourself time to think up a strategy.

What a coincidence, one just popped up. 😉

I think Sanchez is the bigger draw while Aguero is out. He offers a great captaincy option for GWK 4 especially and when Aguero returns his mighty cash can be used for that - depending of course if he is still firing.

Ozil is good, steady, consistent but not a good captaincy candidate as I found out last year. Sanchez does blank but when he scores - he really scores.

Sanchez is the best for goal threat too. Ozil is the second choice for me, with Cazorla third.

Have to say I'm surprised you prefering Sanchez instead of Özil.

I'm at Özil camp atm. Steady returns like you said and easier to keep than Sanchez when Kun needs to be shoe horning in.

and I remember stats Sanchez doing worse when Giroud is on the pitch.

Giroud has to get on the pitch first.

I think Sanchez actually gives more flexibility due to his price. You can downgrade to Ozil but not upgrade to Sanchez.

Someone else captained Ozil last season? Thought it was just me receiving those lovely 4 points 🙂

Good to own - but I won't be captaining him again.

            Yep, I agree.

I will be selecting Ozil ahead of Sanchez as I own Hazard. Won't captain him again.

Cazorla is the penalty taker and mega cheap and steady on the points too. He will do me. Arse is just too inconsistent a team to be seduced by over £10m for Sanchez.

I captained Ozil quite a few times last year and it often paid off. Didn't deliver mega scores but plenty around 10. Will be at least a handy back up when he has home fixtures.

I was set on Ozil until i caught the second half of the game. I was convinced about Alexis based on the eye test.

Is it not worth also considering that Alexis played up front against Watford, which is unlikely to happen with Giroud returning and now Perez in the mix?

Further, he plays an international only 2 or 3 days before the Southampton game. Knowing Wenger he'll play Sanchez, but tiredness could be an issue and he may not be as good a captaincy option as we all think.

Generally, Southampton at the Emirates has been a bit of a bogey fixture in recent times for the Gunners.

Do the transfers now and avoid price drops OR after the internationals to avoid potential injuries?

    1. KingOllie

Do them now. And if u get a tonne of injuries hit the wildcard

Unless you're willing to play your wildcard, I'd avoid making transfers before internationals. There are always injuries.

I thought the price could only drop by £100k overnight in one go so the fact that Kun is £13.1m will have no impact unless you bought him for that price, which presumably affects very few people. Or am I wrong and it can drop by say £200k overnight?

I wasn't aware of that restriction. The Rules page on the FPL website doesn't state that explicitly, but you might be right. I've got no idea.

Wahab just completed a very rare 'ton' in the cricket. 10 overs bowled, 0-110.
