Having assessed the team sheets and tactics from the first 10 sides yesterday, we now turn our attentions to the remaining half for signs of lessons learned.

Everton

Starting XI: Stekelenburg, Coleman, Ashley Williams, Jagielka, Baines, Gueye, Barry, Mirallas, Barkley (Deulofeu 46), Bolasie (Davies 75), Lukaku (Kone 88).

  • Ronald Koeman made one change from the team that beat Stoke 1-0 for the trip to Sunderland, with the fit-again Seamus Coleman coming in for Mason Holgate.
  • Coleman slotted in at right-back for the Toffees, in what was once again a 4-2-3-1 formation used by the Dutch boss.
  • After lacking a cutting edge in the first half, Koeman made a change at the break, with Gerard Deulofeu coming on for Ross Barkley. The Spaniard played on the right wing, with Yannick Bolasie switching over to the opposite flank. Kevin Mirallas slotted into the number ten role. Then, after appearing to suffer from cramp, Bolasie made way for Tom Davies in a straight swap with 15 minutes left on the clock. After scoring an 11-minute hat-trick, Romelu Lukaku was replaced by Arouna Kone with two minutes remaining.
  • With Everton scoring all of their goals following the half-time substitution, Barkley’s starting spot may be in doubt ahead of Saturday’s home clash against Middlesbrough. Deulofeu could come into contention to earn a recall, whilst Aaron Lennon is the other option Koeman could turn to in the attacking midfield areas.

Current Status: Settled
Risk Areas: Flanks, Attacking Midfield

Middlesbrough

Starting XI: Valdes; Barragan, Ayala, Gibson, Friend; Clayton (De Roon 57), Forshaw; Stuani (Traore 81), Downing, Fischer (Ramirez 57); Negredo.

  • Aitor Karanka made three alterations for the home clash against Crystal Palace, with the fit-again Victor Valdes and George Friend replacing Brad Guzan and Emilio Nsue, while Viktor Fischer was handed his first league start for the club in place of Gaston Ramirez.
  • Fischer was stationed in the number ten role in Karanka’s standard 4-2-3-1 formation. Friend returned in his usual position at left-back, with Antonio Barragan moving to the opposite side of defence, ousting Nsue from the XI.
  • After falling 2-1 behind, Karanka made a double substitution before the hour mark, with Marten de Roon and Ramirez coming on in place of Adam Clayton and Fischer in straight swaps. With nine minutes remaining, Karanka turned to Adama Traore in the hope of finding a late equaliser, with the former Aston Villa man taking over from Cristhian Stuani on the right wing.
  • De Roon returned from injury to get 33 minutes under his belt against Palace, and may be recalled when ‘Boro travel to Everton on Saturday. Adam Forshaw has played well in his absence, though, so he or Clayton could make way for the Dutchman. Ramirez featured for Uruguay over the international break, which explains why he was dropped to the bench – he is expected start at the expense of Fischer at Goodison Park.

Current Status: Fairly Settled
Risk Areas: Central Midfield, Attacking Midfield

Southampton

Starting XI: Forster; Cedric Soares, Fonte, Van Dijk, Bertrand; Romeu, Clasie (Hojbjerg 64), Davis; Tadic (Ward-Prowse 80), Rodriguez (Long 46), Redmond.

  • Southampton manager Claude Puel made three changes for the trip to the Emirates, with the fit-again Ryan Bertrand starting in place of Matt Targett, while Jordy Clasie and Jay Rodriguez replaced Pierre Emile-Hojbjerg and Charlie Austin.
  • Rodriguez started up front as Puel moved to a 4-3-3 formation, while Clasie started next to Steven Davis, with Oriol Romeu once again stationed in front of the back four. Bertrand slotted into his usual position at left-back.
  • Rodriguez’s afternoon was cut short, though, with Puel withdrawing him at half-time, with Shane Long coming on in a straight swap. Hojbjerg then took over from Clasie in central midfield shortly after the hour mark, with Puel’s final change seeing James Ward-Prowse replace Dusan Tadic.
  • Hojbjerg was somewhat surprisingly left out against Arsenal having impressed in his previous two starts, so he may come into contention to return against Swansea on Sunday. Ward-Prowse offers another option in midfield, but he may have to remain patient for a chance to return to the starting XI. Long missed some glorious chances after entering the fray on Saturday, so Austin may have a slightly better chance of earning a recall in place of Rodriguez in attack. Tadic and Redmond should keep their places in the side.

Current Status: Slightly Unsettled
Risk Areas: Central Midfield, Strikers

Stoke

Starting XI: Given; Cameron, Shawcross, Martins Indi, Pieters; Walters, Allen, Whelan (Bojan 67), Imbula (Adam 71), Arnautovic; Bony.

  • Mark Hughes made three changes for the visit of Tottenham to the Bet365 Stadium, with Bruno Martins Indi and Wilfried Bony handed their Stoke debuts in place of Phil Bardsley and Peter Crouch, while Jon Walters came in for the injured Mame Biram Diouf.
  • Martins Indi started alongside Ryan Shawcross at centre-half, with Geoff Cameron moving over to right-back. Walters started on the right of the front three, with Arnautovic on the left and Bony stationed as the lone striker. Joe Allen played as a central attacking midfielder, with Giannelli Imbula in a deeper role alongside Glenn Whelan.
  • With his side trailing 3-0, Hughes brought on Bojan in place of Whelan, with the substitute moving into a number ten role in what was more of a traditional 4-2-3-1, meaning Allen dropped back alongside Imbula at the base of midfield. Imbula himself was replaced four minutes later after Spurs took a 4-0 lead, with Charlie Adam coming on in a straight swap.
  • Following another disappointing performance, Hughes may look to make several changes for Sunday’s trip to Selhurst Park. Glen Johnson has resumed training following a thigh injury, and if he’s passed fit, could replace Cameron at right-back. Cameron and Marc Muniesa offer alternatives in central defence, while both players could also be options to replace Erik Pieters at left-back. The three-man midfield of Whelan, Imbula and Allen hasn’t really fired over the opening four matches, so Hughes could drop one of those players, and look to find a place in the side for Bojan in more of a 4-2-3-1 formation. Bojan is also an option to replace Walters on the right flank, while Hughes will desperately hope Xherdan Shaqiri can recover from a calf injury to face the Eagles.

Current Status: Unsettled
Risk Areas: Full-Backs, Central Defence, Central Midfield, Right Wing

Sunderland

Starting XI: Pickford, Manquillo, Kone, Djilobodji, Van Aanholt, Rodwell, Kirchhoff (Denayer, 75), Januzaj, Gooch (Khazri 56), Watmore (Ndong 72), Defoe.

  • Sunderland boss David Moyes made two changes for the visit of Everton to the Stadium of Light, with Jan Kirchhoff and Duncan Watmore coming in for the injured Steven Pienaar and Fabio Borini.
  • Kirchhoff slotted in alongside Jack Rodwell at the base of midfield in the 4-2-3-1 formation, while Watmore played on the right of the attacking midfield trio, with Adnan Januzaj in the number ten role and Lynden Gooch on the left.
  • Gooch was the first player to be replaced by Moyes, with Wahbi Khazri coming on 11 minutes into the second half in a straight swap. Deadline day signing Didier Ndong then came on in place of Watmore after 72 minutes and, shortly after, Kirchhoff, making his first start of the campaign, was replaced by Jason Denayer, with Moyes switching to a 3-4-3 formation. Patrick van Aanholt and Javier Manquillo played as wing-backs, with Ndong and Rodwell in centre midfield. Khazri and Januzaj flanked central striker Jermain Defoe.
  • While it was a disappointing Sunderland performance, Moyes doesn’t look to have too many options available to him for Sunday’s trip to White Hart Lane. Khazri could replace either Gooch or Watmore, while Ndong is an option in the middle of the park, although he is still lacking match fitness. Moyes could look to change to a more defensive formation against Tottenham, with Paddy McNair or John O’Shea perhaps options to stiffen up the midfield in a 4-5-1 formation.

Current Status: Fairly Settled
Risk Areas: Central Midfield, Flanks

Swansea

Starting XI: Fabianski, Naughton, Fernandez, Amat, Taylor (Barrow 41), Fer, Cork, Ki Sung-yeung, Sigurdsson (Rangel 89), Kingsley, Llorente.

  • Francesco Guidolin made two alterations for the visit of Chelsea to the Liberty Stadium, with Neil Taylor and Ki Sung-yeung handed their first league starts of the season in place of Wayne Routledge and Modou Barrow.
  • Those changes saw the Italian switch from the 4-2-3-1 formation to a 3-5-1-1 system, with Stephen Kingsley joining Jordi Amat and Federico Fernandez in a three-man backline, allowing Kyle Naughton and Taylor to operate as wing-backs. Ki started alongside Jack Cork and Leroy Fer in midfield, with Gylfi Sigurdsson stationed “in the hole” behind lone striker Fernando Llorente.
  • After seeing his side fall a goal behind, Guidolin made a first substitution four minutes before half-time, with Barrow introduced in place of Taylor. That change saw the Swans switch to a 4-3-1-2 system, with Barrow joining Llorente in attack, while Kingsley moved to left-back. With the match level at 2-2 heading into stoppage time, Guidolin brought on Angel Rangel for Sigurdsson in a bid to hold on for a point, with the Spaniard offering extra cover in front of Kingsley at left-back.
  • While the switch to a three-man backline didn’t pay off on Sunday, Guidolin has revealed he is happy to use the system again. Whether he will at Southampton is questionable, though. Having been substituted instead of Kingsley, Taylor may now appear behind the Scot in the pecking order at left-back, although the decision may have been influenced by the Wales international’s comparative lack of match fitness. Ki may lose his place in the side should Guidolin move back to a 4-2-3-1, with Barrow looking certain to return to the starting XI in such a scenario. Jefferson Montero could also push for a starting berth ahead of Routledge in that formation, while the Italian boss will hope club-record signing Borja Baston can train fully this week in order to make his debut off the bench at St Mary’s.

Current Status: Slightly Unsettled
Risk Areas: Left-Back, Central Midfield, Flanks

Tottenham

Starting XI: Lloris; Walker, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Davies; Dier, Wanyama (Lamela 55); Eriksen (Sissoko 78), Alli, Heung-Min Son; Kane (Janssen 73).

  • Mauricio Pochettino made three changes for the trip to Stoke, with the fit-again Hugo Lloris replacing Michel Vorm in goal, while Ben Davies came in for the injured Danny Rose. Heung-Min Son made his first start of the campaign, replacing Erik Lamela.
  • Son was stationed on the left of the attacking midfield trio in Pochettino’s standard 4-2-3-1 formation, with Christian Eriksen shifting over to the right, leaving Dele Alli in the number ten role behind lone striker Harry Kane. Davies slotted into his usual position at left-back.
  • Having picked up a yellow card, Wanyama was substituted 10 minutes into the second half, with Lamela taking his place. The Argentine played on the right wing, with Eriksen moving into the number ten position. Alli then dropped back into the double-pivot for a short period, before Moussa Sissoko came on to make his Tottenham debut. The France international played in central midfield next to Dier, allowing Alli to push forward once more behind Vincent Janssen, who had replaced Kane in attack after the England forward had broken his duck for the season.
  • With Tottenham facing Monaco in the Champions League tomorrow night, we may well see Pochettino rotate against Sunderland on Sunday. Kieran Trippier offers an alternative to Kyle Walker at right-back, while Rose will come back into contention at left-back should he recover from the hamstring injury that saw him miss out against Stoke. Mousa Dembele will be available to face the Black Cats after serving his suspension, while Pochettino has a plethora of options for the three advanced midfield positions, with his selection tomorrow night likely to give strong clues at to who will start on Sunday. He could also consider playing both Kane and Janssen, perhaps placing Alli’s starting position in a little doubt.

Current Status: Unsettled
Risk Areas: Full-Backs, Central Midfield, Flanks, Attacking Midfield, Strikers

Watford

Starting XI: Gomes, Cathcart, Kaboul (Prodl 82), Britos; Janmaat, Behrami, Capoue, Pereyra, Holebas; Deeney (Okaka 79), Ighalo (Success 69).

  • Walter Mazzarri made four alterations for the trip to West Ham, with Craig Cathcart and Miguel Britos coming in for Christian Kabasele and Sebastian Prodl, while Roberto Pereyra and Daryl Janmaat were handed their first starts for the club, replacing Nordin Amrabat and Adlene Guedioura.
  • Cathcart and Britos started alongside Younes Kaboul in the three-man backline, while Janmaat came in at right wing-back in the 3-5-2 formation. Pereyra started alongside Etienne Capoue in central midfield, with Valon Behrami sat just in front of the back three.
  • Mazzarri made his first substitution after 69 minutes, with Isaac Success taking over from Odion Ighalo in attack. Fellow summer signing Stefano Okaka was then handed his Hornets bow, replacing Troy Deeney for the final 11 minutes. The Italian’s final change saw Prodl take over from Kaboul in central defence for the final eight minutes.
  • After registering their first win of the season, Mazzarri could name an unchanged side to face Man United on Sunday providing there are no injury concerns. He does have plenty of options in central defence though, with Prodl and Kabasele offering alternatives if he looks to freshen things up.

Current Status: Settled
Risk Areas: Central Defence

West Brom

Starting XI: Foster; Dawson, McAuley, Evans, Galloway; Yacob (Leko 82); Phillips, Fletcher (Gardner 71), Field, Chadli; Berahino (Rondon 62).

  • Tony Pulis made two changes for the trip to Bournemouth, with Nacer Chadli handed his first start for the club in place of James McClean, while Saido Berahino earned a recall, replacing Salomon Rondon.
  • Pulis used more of a 4-1-4-1 system at the Vitality Stadium, with Chadli stationed on the left of midfield, with Matt Phillips on the opposite flank. Berahino operated as the lone striker, while Claudio Yacob played as the holding midfielder.
  • Berahino was the first player to be substituted by Pulis, with Rondon coming on in a straight swap shortly after the hour mark. The Baggies boss then turned to Craig Gardner, who replaced Darren Fletcher in the middle of the park. After falling a goal behind, Jonathan Leko was introduced for Yacob, with the substitute playing on the right wing, with Phillips shifting over to the left flank. Chadli moved into the number ten role in what was more of a 4-2-3-1 system.
  • Rondon was left out of the starting XI following his exploits for Venezuela over the international break, but should return to the starting XI against West Ham on Saturday. Berahino could drop back into the number ten role should Pulis start with the 4-2-3-1 formation, with Sam Field perhaps missing out. But if he sticks with the 4-1-4-1 system, Berahino may have to settle for a place on the bench, with Phillips and Chadli likely to keep their starting spots out wide.

Current Status: Fairly Settled
Risk Areas: Attacking Midfield, Lone Striker

West Ham

Starting XI: Adrian; Byram (Tore 85), Reid, Collins, Masuaku; Kouyate, Noble (Calleri 69); Antonio, Lanzini, Payet; Zaza (Fletcher 77).

  • Slaven Bilic made four changes for the home encounter against Watford, with Dimitri Payet and Manuel Lanzini handed their first starts of the season in place of Gokhan Tore and Ashley Fletcher, while Simone Zaza was handed his Hammers debut in place of the departed Enner Valencia. The other change saw Sam Byram come in for Angelo Ogbonna.
  • Having started with a 3-5-2 formation against Man City before the international break, Bilic reverted back to his favoured 4-2-3-1 system, with Payet, Lanzini and Michail Antonio forming the attacking midfield trio behind lone striker Zaza. Byram slotted in at right-back, with James Collins partnering Winston Reid in central defence.
  • With his side trailing 4-2, Bilic turned to Jonathan Calleri off the bench, with the striker replacing Mark Noble. He joined Zaza in attack, with Lanzini dropping into central midfield, forming more of a 4-4-2 formation. Fletcher then entered the fray with 13 minutes left, taking over from Zaza in attack. As a final roll of the dice, Bilic turned to Tore, who combined with Antonio down the right flank for the final five minutes.
  • After such a poor performance, particularly defensively, Bilic could make several changes ahead of the trip to West Brom. Adrian, Byram and Collins all struggled against the Hornets, and while Adrian should keep his place in the side, Darren Randolph does provide a strong alternative in goal. Alvaro Arbeloa is lacking match fitness, so Byram may get the nod for another week at right-back, but Ogbonna now looks set to put serious pressure on Collins’ place in the starting XI. Zaza is likely to be handed another start to help improve his match sharpness, particularly given neither Calleri or Fletcher having overly impressed in their appearances so far this season.

How did Baines look like yesterday? I'm happy with clean sheet, but wonder did he offered anything in attacking areas...?

Would appreciate any thoughts on this.

Given the current value of Aguero, I have exactly enough money ITB to allow me to get him back in next GW and do the below transfers this week for a -8

    Redmond to Snodgrass
    Barclay to Antonio
    Rondon to Benteke

Not keen on hits, but I prefer the above and am worried about any price movements.

1 . Redmond has a decent fixture this GW. I'd hold.

      2. Barkley to Antonio. The latter faces a defensive team in Pulis. They could very well score but you just know Pulis is going to do his best to prevent that. Barkley also has a home game, pretty sure he will start.

      3. This is the only move I'd do this GW out of the list you have presented tbh.

Smooth for me with a wildcard.

Kept faith in Firminho. Drafted in double Everton defence (which I think will be great for these fixtures). Brought in Costa (C), Benteke and finished on 71.

Even Capoue on the bench couldn't ruin the GW!

Owned Lukaku and that was enough to save my whole week and give me a green arrow

      Aguero is needed back ASAP.

I was 300k before the last game, now on 150k simply with Lukaku

I did draft Fimino out in gw2 for Coutinho, hasn't paid off so far but I think it will soon 😀

      Horrendous!

Drafted in Sanchez and Iheahanco for a -4 hit. The 2nd worked out but a midfield of Hazard (c), Sanchez, Lamela and Barkley brought me grand total of 5 points. GW total of 23. Wild card looming me thinks or is just a bad GW!

      Mostly smooth here. 🙂

WC out: Firmino, Lamela, Valencia, Stones, Redmond, Gray and Aguero.

WC in: Baines, Lukaku, Benteke, Cazorla, Sanchez, PVA and Antonio.

      GW points: 65
      Total Points: 252
      OR: 9,000

Even though my Sanchez captain failed I started the gw with an OR of 61k so overall I'm happy with the big leap and WC success which isn't always guaranteed.

Pretty smooth week, wilcarded and climbed over 1M spots in the ranking.

Smooth: Brought in Lukaku and Benteke, but was much more pleased with the ones I kept, Payet(c) and especially Firmino

Smooth - Koscielny, Baines, Antonio, Ibrahimovic, Benteke.
Rough - Heaton, Bellerin, Valencia, Hazard (c), Sanchez, Barkley.

Although Hazard blanked think I'm more annoyed about Barkley being brought off at half time.

Smoothish: Sold Tadic for Cazorla for a hit. 5 v 9 points, so in theory it worked ok.

Rough: the other part of the hit was Aguero to Costa. Normally I wouldn't complain, but if I had benched Kun instead I would have had Capoue. So 13 v 12-4; 5 points down in all.

Rough: Could have sold Barkley instead. Sigh.

Smooth: decided to go for three lottery tickets to replace Aguero without using my wild card so I shipped Aguero Tadic Ramirez out for Benteke, Mahrez, Payet, -8.

Not only did two of three get returns, but the move allowed me to captain Payet instead of Sanchez, resulting in a profit of 10 points or so even after the big hit. Wild card still intact for bringing back Aguero.

Hazard (C), Sanchez blank, no Lukaku or Antonio, could have brought both in on a WC. 31 points on the bench. Capoue, Smith & Holebas.

Dropped from OR 173 to 3544, when a couple of better decisions could have seen me consolidate my great start in to something amazing. Although I'm in a better position than most, it still feels pretty rough right now.

Rough.. thought hard about Costa but was worried about the constant YC potential, so went for Hazard and captained him. All my rivals, it turned out, had done the opposite. We all know what happens next - Costa gets a brace, Hazard blanks and get a YC. (At least Costa got one too, so I wasn't *completely* wrong). Lost my lead in all my leagues though.

Smooth... went for Benteke over Costa and at least he got a goal. And I'd stuck with Firmino since the start and he finally came good, rescuing my gameweek from total disaster.

Despite Firmino/Mane being the pick of the Liverpool attackers,it must be noted that whenever Coutinho has played,he has scored more points than any of the Liverpool midfielders.

Yes,he has a horrible shot conversion rate but is that reason enough not to select him?

He has set pieces in his locker and is cheaper than both Firmino and Mane.

      Is Coutinho being overlooked?

Horribly rough. Took an 8pt hit to bring in Sanchez(c) and Sterling for a grand total of 18pts. Late cameos from Sanchez and Lamela meant my 1st sub Capoue stayed on the bench.

Sunderland have not won any of their last 23 Premier League matches contested in either August or Spetember (W0 D9 L14) should we:

      A) Consider Sunderland the new whipping boys

      B) Not only obtaining Spurs assets but thinking of captaining them this week?

Played my WC - got Lukaku, Costa (c), Antonio, Baines in and they all did well for my team.

Smooth - the rank change from 350k to 20k
      Rough - Cech's OG

Made the following changes last thing Saturday morning (was on WC)

Smooth - transferred Negredo out for Benteke

Rough - transferred out A.Smith for Collins.
      Subbed in Valencia for Capoue.
Changed Captaincy from Lukaku to Hazard. Those 3 changes cost me 39 points

At 11:27 I took out Sanchez, Antonio and Iheanacho for Ozil, Lanzini.

At 11:29 I reversed the transfers and got Iheanacho back in.

Overall, delighted with the WC. Baines, Firmino, Antonio, Benteke, Iheanacho all did well. 🙂

Rough...! Firminho to Barkley last week for a hit. This week Redmond to Sanchez, Hazard (c) and 18 points (-4) going into Monday. GW rank in the bottom 1,000.

Smooth... At least I did Aguero to Lukaku this week. Still have my WC.

Ended up 36 -4. OR now 1.4m, the first time I've ever fallen out of the top million after being in it.

Topics that I think would be good to discuss

Can we go without one of Aguero or Ibra (or even both) with the amount of value around?

Kane off the mark, Dembele back, Sunderland (h)

Is City attack essential for Bournemouth given how good they were against United - could be a bloodbath?

that is so important - to choose the right players with that amount of money. Looks like this season will be a proper one with a lot of defferentials. I think Kun still will be the best striker, but there will be few who will outscore Ibra, no doubt about that.

        1. Wurstmuncher
          • 11 Years

I don't think many will outscore Ibra. Predicting Kun, Ibra, Costa as top scorers with maybe Kane edging it over Costa.

Why are you so certain Ibra will be outscored? 22 attempts on goal so far, way more than anyone else in the league including Kun.

Yea but as a mid he dosn't have to do as well as a forward. He took and scored che only one dis season at whm. Plus costa keeps getting yellow cards.

True but you can have Costa and Hazard as I do and with Hazard assisting all those Costa goals you have the best of both worlds. I thought we were talking about players who will score more goals than Ibra though?

Yea, but the yellow cards seem to have a big dent in the bps this year. It looks like it halfs them. So like costa would have to gain twice the bp over hazard to get maxium bonus points. Yea i know but surely we should be talking points, not number of goals. Like the system rewards players more futher down the pitch when it comes to attacking bp !

lot of people are going to weaken their mids to get Kun back in. I am thinking of covering Kun with KDB and upgrading Redmond or defence with spare cash.If Kukaku, Ibra, Costa and other high priced strikers are starting to perform not sure it justifies taking them out just to facilitate Kun.

As a strategy, does it make sense to try and jump aboard the "right" midfielders, or do we accept that it's simply a carousel and points are distributed so widely that it's better to hold and assume weeks will be up and down.

Seems near on impossible to correctly choose explosive midfielder captains of any given gw thus far.

What about doubling up of cheap defenders in teams with great runs of fixtures. Maybe Baines and Williams, then swapping out to another team when fixtures suit? Jags and Williams look ok together? And they've got cdm coverage too, so maybe even Baines Coleman? Maybe double spurs defenders in good run?

Dont understand why every season the whole fantasy crowd goes "Barkley get in!", "Barkley is a must buy player" etc.

When we all have known for such a long time now, that Barkley isnt really a good fantasy player. Sure he plays some games, but he isnt really bringing home the goods (assists, goals)

Its time everybody took a deep breath and looked reality in its eyes - Barkley is nor never was a good fantasy player.

Spurs are coming into form, but can we afford to own any of their attackers? By my count, they have 7 players for the 4 attacking positions (Lamela, Eriksen, Alli, Kane, Janssen, Son, Nkoudou), not counting Sissoko who may also play on the wing. With Champions League football, aren't we risking a lot of 1-point sub appearances?

Considering Kun, Ibra and Costa could be all be likely to score +20 this season is it viable to go heavy at the front with mid priced mids and cheap def i.e:

      gk: 4.5 + 4.0

def: Valencia, Evans, A.Smith, Holebas, Amat

Mid: Hazard, Antonio, Cazorla, Snoddy, Capoue

      Fwd: Kun, Ibra, Costa

Do you value Defenders with attacking potential in weak defensive teams (eg PVA, Dann) over your more assured clean sheet potential defenders (eg Stones, Evans) when it comes to fixtures? As you dont want to potential miss a goal/assist from PVA or Dann.

My current dilemma is i have PVA vs Spurs (dont see a clean sheet but could score) and Evans at Home vs West Ham (potential clean sheet but no real goal threat)

Chosing your Heavy Hitters wisely. Surely they now must have Pens in there locker ?

Example: Ibra, Harzard, and Aguero (when he is back).

Given how well Costa,Ibra and Lukaku are doing, when do you guys think you will be getting Aguero back into your team?

I am tempted to wait until after the international break and get him in either for EVE (15th October) or SOT (22nd October). There is always a chance Aguero gets injured on international duty so I am not sure I would want to get him back in the week before the international break.

Do Jonty and Mark regret wildcarding early?

Is it the right time to back Kane?

What are your moves to get Aguero back?

Do we need a second £4.5m midfielder?

      1. Captaincy this week of course!
      2. Capoue as a 4th mid and rotate with a defender and go 4-3-3 or rotate with someone like Snoddy. For example this week I wouldn't play him as I see Man U getting a CS and I have Valencia
      3. Already got Mane but double up on Liverpool attack after Chelsea fixture and get Firmino as well
      4. When will Man City get CS and will Stones be worth it
      5. Ozil and what to do with him, just brought him in on WC
      6. Aguero and how do we get him back if we have 3 strikers who are going well, for example I have Benteke, Ibra, Lukaku
      7. Got in Pickford on WC is he safe

Hope some of these will be answered thanks guys!

      Big Q for me...

Starting to think Liverpool midfielder is essential. Who would you go with if price wasn't an issue?... And who would you go with if every 0.1 counted? Might be the same player.

With players like Kane and Costa looking like they are/will be at their best again, is it worth taking some risks and go with those players instead of Ibra and/or Aguero? You will get goals from those strikers no matter what, so are these players really still deemed as 'essential'?

It seems like its impossible to cover all of the attacks that you would want in you team at the moment (Arsenal, Chelsea, West Ham, Man U, Man City, Everton, Liverpool... etc) which attack would you most be scared of going without?

No Kun, no Ibra. Have the armband on Lukaku vs Boro. If he gets something, am I crazy to leave it there for Bournemouth and use the Kun/Ibra millions elsewhere? Worried that Swansea in gw6 looks the perfect time for Aguero to plunk in 4+ to destroy my fantasy hopes & dreams.

I guess my main question would be, is Lukaku actually droppable for Aguero in GW 6 and 7 as he has bou (a) and CPL (h).

Aguero has swa (a) and tot (a).

Q1. Should Sanchez owners hold for the GW5 away fixture to Hull or switch to Cazorla now to enable the Aguero return in GW6?

Q2. Capoue appears to be making a good case as a 4th midfielder, so who do we bring in to bench?

Q3. Lukaku.....can we trust him not to troll this season.

Q4. Liverpool likes to atttack....so who is the best investment(s); Mane, Firmino, Lallana, Coutinho or Sturridge?

Probably if it's worth bringing in Aguero from gw 6

With many having Lukaku/Costa/Kane Ibra 7.5 as their front 3, seems hard to drop one of those in form players.

Also: is Cazorla really a better option than Sanchez/Ozil (price taken into account ofcourse)

And: Can Capoue continue delivering like this?

      1) Could we go without Kun until Everton play Man City in GW 8? Everton's fixtures don't look so attractive at that point and Man City go EVE, SOU, wba, MID, cpa, BUR.

      2) Is Harry Kane destined for a return to form? Maybe in place of Ibra, whose fixtures aren't the best in the mid-term?

      3) Could we go Kun, Ibra/Kane, Lukaku until Everton's fixtures drop (i.e. for GW 6 and 7), possibly making Capoue the 4th midfielder to facilitate this?

      4) Do you think that KDB is a better option than Sanchez at the moment, especially with a slightly better price tag? Could go to Cazorla instead of Sanchez...

      5) What do you think of Cazorla as a cheap option for Arsenal midfield? His goals have only come from spot-kicks, but is his dominance on set pieces a chance too good to be missed?

      6) Is it time to ditch the WBA defence, since their fixtures take a turn for the worse soon? What do you think are the best mid-term rotation options?

      7) How am I meant to get in a Liverpool midfielder with their points spread and with Hazard and Antonio and with two premium strikers? Is Lallana an option?

Jermain Defoe against Spurs and away V Home

On the back of Granville asking about Defoe away at spurs I found this site via google

      http://www.soccerbase.com/players/player.sd?player_id=17118&season_id=145

Its been stated previously Defoe scores more away at home, so not sure if to keep him for too long as third striker , Deeney and Watford fixtures look better priced at 6.9

On Defoe against spurs, this was found up to Feb 2015,
      http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/jermain-defoe-now-scored-past-8608547

A lot of his history will be whilst at spurs but as for scoring against spurs that was 1 goal as at Feb 2015, since then he has not scored against spurs, I am assuming he was playing

I will probably wait this one week and will be either Defoe or Capoue to bench and then transfer out if next game week on a free

The reason I see Capoue as a Yaya Toure type player is because it makes no sense that he will keep on scoring and many people doubt him. Not saying he will get 250 points this season, but just pointing out the similarities

His stats aren't stand-out but he somehow gets returns

I'm going to be playing him as my 4th mid because of his ownership. Looking at the stats from @OfficialFPL on Twitter, it seems that a large portion of people still actually start Capoue instead of benching him. So to not get left behind and hurt even more, I think I'll be playing him

These are Watford season ticket holders. Say he's good defensively but a very poor passer and on the ball. He was always played at DM. Now he has freedom to make runs into the box and use his finishing which you could see is brilliant

Ibra Kun Lukaku. Hazard plus cheap firing mids is my plan for a bit...

Kun for Costa soon - just before his ban or red hopefully.

Aguero, Lukaku, Ibra probably, although maybe Kane instead of Ibra as that would allow me to have Hazard too.

Depends on the next week or two re: performances from the big players.

Ibra, Kun, Costa for me at the moment. Luka is such a frustrating player, very inconsistent and I have an itchy trigger finger. If he starts returning regularly though his price 9.1 over Costa 9.9 is very tempting, might just wait till Costa gets banned then switch

Why are people selling Costa & Ibra for Kane & Lukaku? Costa could have easily got a hat trick too. And Ibra has already got 4 goals in 4.

      Costa -- Card magnet maybe?

Ibra -- A couple of people are looking at freeing up funds. A Ibra + Kun frontline now has competition.

Maybe for 1 match they are good options. But overall Costa & Ibra are better options.

'better' is relative no? All are rather good PL strikers and depending on the rest of your squad, Kane & Lukaku might be better fit.

I agree, Lukaku is very patchy player and Kane still has very poor stats even in current gw with only 1 shot on target (only 2 shots on target in 4 games).

as I am going to WC in GW6, which transfer should I do for the GW5 only:

    A. G.Ramirez ➡ Nolito / Sterling / Alli / Eriksen / Cazorla
    or
    B. Gray ➡ Lukaku / Vardy / Benteke

    ??

wait to see who plays for M.City in CL. Nolito or Sterling could be dropped for league game.

Rarely do, but I'll have to agree with Mourinho on this one. English clubs aren't being helped in their European campaigns in any way, it's sickening. The teams that have games on Tuesdays will surely have to be the ones that get to play that Friday game.

Tempted by gomes on my wc. Has much nicer fixtures than foster/heaton and was a beast last season. Better than a watford defender imo

Also ideas for best 45 defenders? Not keen on any of the obvious ones.

Not enough research done there 🙂 Keep Foster/Heaton and get Holebas. Plays LWB for Watford, scored a goal on Saturday.

Had him but someone said he might not be nailed?

Have fond memories of gomes double pen saves last season, and with all the penalties happening this year...could be a good punt for keeper returns?

He's a punt but an expensive one, there's really no need for puns in the GK area, especially when they're more expensive than the GKs you've got. I'd keep the money and look to spend it elsewhere, since there's so many premium mids and strikers everyone's trying to fit in. Watford's bought 5 new wingbacks, but Holebas is pretty nailed by the looks of it, his goal only assured it.

Yea i see, just Burnleys fixtures so off putting.

Leiceter, Watford, Arsenal, soton, everton, united.

How many points realistically from that. 0.5 more can get you 2-3 more cleanies then its worth it imo.

.5mil is so important in the front 7 though ugh cant decide haha

Would anybody else switch Redmond to Zaha I think the addition of benteke could boost Zaha's assists

The second point is good, but I wouldn't do it before Southampton finally have an on paper easier fixture.

Should I start Capoue over Barkley this GW? Would hate a 1pt sub appearance keeping another Capoue haul on the bench. Already made my FT this week so waiting til GW6 to ditch Barkley on WC.

    Aguero back gw6 plan ?

    A. Benteke to Aguero and Sanchez to Snodgrass. 0.4m ITB

    Or

    B. Lukaku to Aguero and Sanchez to Cazorla. 0.0m ITB

    Cheers
