Fantasy Chili Bowl – The Quarter Finals

So we have had a break, eaten as much turkey as we could fill our faces with and drunk enough alcohol to sink into a pleasant coma.

Now we are back and it is time to recommence the Fantasy Chili Bowl and preview the forthcoming quarter final stage that features:

San Antonio Ravers

Washington DC Presidents

Cleveland Steamers

Philadelphia Sentrymen

San Francisco Bulls Deep

San Diego Casuals

Indianapolis House of Pancakes

Waikiki Beach Raiders

A big thanks to the 16 teams who have left the contest at this juncture. You have helped to make it really competitive and enjoyable for everyone.

Crucially nobody came through qualifying unbeaten so this tournament is still very much everyone’s to play for.

But there were some big variations in qualifying scores.

San Francisco came through as the top scorers with a whopping 1652 points the next highest scorers were Philadelphia with 1599.

In contrast, Cleveland came in as the lowest scorers remaining in the competition and the lowest scorers in their group on only 1469 points and yet they still topped group B.

The awards for Most Valuable Player goes to Moin of the Mississippi Hillbillies as he picked up the most all star points in the competition. He also made a huge inroad into his OR during the league stages. Great work Moin.

The Captain’s Award goes to Lateriser12 from Jacksonville, who was followed closely by Tets McGee of San Diego ang then SidL of New York. Well played all of you

Quarter Final Draw

  1. Philadelphia Sentrymen        v San Francisco Bulls Deep
  2. Washington DC Presidents     v Cleveland Steamers
  3. San Diego Casuals         v Indianapolis House of Pancakes
  4. Waikiki Beach Raiders         v San Antonio Ravers

So there are some significant ties there. Match one sees the two highest scorers so far, Philadelphia and San Francisco, drawn together. This will be a massive game and should leave the victor as one of the favourites for the tournament.

The second match sees Cleveland, the tournament’s lowest remaining scorers, playing Washington DC, who have collected more points over the tournament so far. Will Cleveland’s superior match play see them win again?

San Diego and Indianapolis only sees the tournaments third and fourth highest scorers from the league stages drawn together, with the winner undoubtedly a key team to beat.

The fourth contest could see the most closely contested tie. Waikiki and San Antonio only scored 21 points apart over the course of the five qualifying weeks and it will likely be a tight affair when the sides meet

Looking Ahead

If you are lucky enough to progress the remaining fixtures are:

Semi Finals :

Match A: winner match 2 @ winner match 1

Match B: winner match 4 @ winner match 3

Final (the Texas Chili Bowl):

winner match A v winner match B

THE SQUADS AND THE FIXTURE LISTS

Please see this spreadsheet  for details of all the squads (with links to each players FPL history) and fixtures.

The FCB Differentials spreadsheet allows teams to identify which players will be key in this week’s scoring. The instructions for using it are:

2. Enter the GW no. in the blue-coloured cell on top.

3. Enter the FPL IDs of your six team members and the six IDs of the opponents’.

4. The sheet picks up the live FPL points of the players on each refresh, and the total for the team is displayed in green.

The FCB Next GW Scouting spreadsheet will allow teams to pull in the previous week’s FPL teams for all eight of the opposing teams players to allow scouting of the squads. The instructions for using this spreadsheet are as above except the fpl points are no longer valid.

·         Remember this is a FFS community competition and we expect all teams to have some presence within the comments on these articles.  If we see some teams not participating on this front, we will start enforcing rules to ensure this does happen.

It's actually quite emotional for me to post this, but I will.

IHOP we salute you. Tough opponents, tough game. It's been a roller coaster GW for both of us, but there could only be one winner.

    Good luck in the semi-finals.

To everyone who supported us, thank you!

To Aron, Ed, Chetan, Joel, Khalid, Mithoon and Rob; love you guys. Big time.

    San Diego Casuals out.

QF 3 - San Diego vs IHOP surely has got to be the match of the tournament, where we won on a tie-breaker!!!

There were many twists and turns in our clash :
    Our 16 point hit
    McAuley own goal
Giroud subbed off on 59 mins
    21 pointer by Alonso
    Lukaku YC
    Coutinho on the bench
    The close miss by Pogba
Origi subbed off on 60 mins
Valencia assist on the 84th min

    and above all.....
The Firmino YC on the 90th min which made the scores level!!!

This has been harsh on the Casuals. We feel for you. But unfortunately there had to be only one winner. You guys were among the top teams in this competition.....

So while there are rumours that trump may or may not like golden showers, I can confirm that the Washington Presidents dislike Cleveland Steamers.

Great match guys and unlucky. Think we lucked out with a couple of rage wild cards being activated.

To be honest, you guys got very lucky due to Alonso's unexpected haul and our differentials getting many YCs. Lukaku's YC also made us lose his bonus points.

It was a very tight contest and I agree it hurts to lose on a tie-breaker.
