With the double and blank Gameweeks of the last two weekends behind us it is now worth considering freshening up our squads and drafting in a differential to help climb up the rankings.
This article will look at a low owned gem in each of the three outfield positions, with this trio all having a Fantasy Premier League ownership below the 10% mark and costing no more than 7.0 at the time of writing.
DEFENDER – CHRISTIAN FUCHS
Price: 5.2
Ownership: 4.5%
Team: Leicester
Next five: wha, STO, SUN, eve, cpa
Leicester have a good spell of fixtures over their next five and with last season’s bonus point king Christian Fuchs securing some attacking returns of late, the left back could be a decent shout for points at both ends of the field in the forthcoming weeks.
In a season which has brought last season’s champions back down to earth, Fuchs’s assist potential hasn’t changed. Registering three assists so far, which is just one less than he reached during the 2015/16 campaign, the Austrian is set to surpass his previous tally.
The Foxes’ form has recently taken a turn and should it continue, they should get some vital clean sheets under their belt, which would boost Fuchs’s bonus point potential.
Having netted twice this season, after failing to notch a goal in his debut season in the Premier League, the attack-minded defender has now proved to us that he can be a threat in front of goal. Consecutive attacking returns in his preceding pair of games consolidates this.
Leicester players are out of favour at present, but jumping on Fuchs early could pay off nicely as he has the perfect storm of form and fixtures.
MIDFIELDER – DUSAN TADIC
Price: 7.0
Ownership: 1.5%
Team: Southampton
Next five: tot, BOU, CPA, wbr, MCI
With a powerful sixteen point points tally, Dusan Tadic was the FPL’s top performer in Gameweek 27.
He hasn’t been anywhere near the player he was last season, which saw him record an influential number of goals and assists (8 and 13 respectively), but recent form indicates the Serb is getting back to his best.
Ranking second, only to Harry Kane, in terms of the most in-form players in FPL, Tadic will almost certainly replace the injured Spurs striker to gain top spot should his form continue.
Tadic boasts a goal and three assists in his last two Premier League games and has some decent fixtures after this weekend’s tricky trip to White Hart Lane. In addition, he is a proven candidate for a fiery haul, which further adds to his appeal.
It is also worth noting that he is assured of two double Gameweeks, giving him the opportunity to reward you with extra points. This could be crucial in the final weeks of the season, especially if his ownership is to remain scarce.
FORWARD – TROY DEENEY
Price: 6.8
Ownership: 6.1%
Team: Watford
Next five fixtures: cpa, SUN, WBR, spu, SWA
With five goals in his previous six games, Troy Deeney is on a fine vein of form as we head into Gameweek 29’s trip to Crystal Palace.
However, with a meagre 6.1% ownership this feat has gone largely unnoticed among FPL managers, who have instead been impressed by the more fashionable Saints’ striker Manolo Gabbiadini in the mid price range. The Italian has received more than 400,000 transfers-in since his arrival to the Premier League in Gameweek 24.
Placed just sixth amongst all strikers in the overall standings in FPL, and with better form than any forward within his price bracket, barring Fernando Llorente, Deeney should not be overlooked.
Although he has been unlucky not to return a double figure haul this season, Watford’s next three fixtures are kind – ranking no more than 2 on FPL’s Fixture Difficulty Ranking – suggesting the Eagles skipper could be on course for some strong returns.
Deeney has been more fruitful on home soil this season, with six of his nine goals dispatched at Vicarage Road. With three home games in his next five matches the Englishman’s prospects look strong.
He has no issues concerning security of starts and with an impressive sixteen bonus points for the season so far, including maximum bonus’ in three of his last six encounters, he looks a worthy, low-owned option in your line of attack.

Thanks for this. Another Fuchs fan. 🙂
Tadic very much on the radar for Saints' DGWK
