Double Gameweek Rotation – Part 2

With few matches remaining and critical double Gameweeks approaching I have decided to identify and review the rotation risks of key dgw assets. Earlier this week I looked at the players in a spin among some of the teams vying for a top four spot.

This latest part takes in those players who can expect reduced minutes among mid table sides Southampton and West Brom, as well as among the ranks of relegation candidates Sunderland.

Look out next week for a third and final part examining the risks among Watford and Tottenham’s ranks.

Southampton

Nathan Redmond        Total Minutes 2,495             Rotation Risk High

Nathen Redmond has racked up a hefty pile of minutes for Southampton but has already been dropped in both Gameweek 19 and Gameweek 34. Record signing Sofiane Boufal back from injury, as well as the availability of January signing of Manolo Gabbiadini, make the forward spots hard to predict and Redmond a high risk option.

Cédric Soares             Total Minutes 2,091             Rotation Risk Medium

Cedric seems to be a first choice right back at Southampton but faces competition from his understudy Cuco Martina. Cedric has played when fit but has suffered from a couple of spells on the side lines. Southampton have two double Gameweeks in a row and it seems likely that boss Claude Puel will look to field Martina at least once across that quartet of games.

James Ward-Prowse Total Minutes 1,561             Rotation Risk High

Ward Prose has started the last nine games but been substituded in five of those. He has a history of rotation over previous seasons and early in the current campaign, when he was rotated in the majority of Gameweeks 1-23. It is unlikely he will start all four double Gameweek matches.

Maya Yoshida           Total Minutes 1,530             Rotation Risk Low

Yoshida has played ever minute since Gameweek 19, following the departure of Jose Fonte and injury to Virgil Van Dyke. He looks the safest option at the back, but he could still find himself benched for perhaps one of the four double Gameweek matches with Martin Carecres given a run out in his place.

Jack Stephens            Total Minutes 1,019             Rotation Risk Medium

The young centre half has played well since joining Yoshida at the heart of defence. But Careces is waiting in the wings, which places Stephen’s security of starts across all four games at risk.

Dusan Tadic    Total Minutes 2,011             Rotation Risk Medium

Tadic maybe Southampton’s main creative force but he has been rotated across Gameweeks 15-18 and 24. It is also noted Tadic has been substituted  frequently but has played all 90 minutes of the last four games. Starts in all four double fixtures seem unlikely.

Manolo Gabbiadini    Total Minutes 340                Rotation Risk Medium

Gabbiadini has hit the ground running and has been started when fit. The issue is he has just returned from three games out and may be unable to start four games in a row. Shane Long is also a major threat if again Puel looks to freshen up the squad in a busy schedule.

Ryan Bertrand             Total Minutes 2,058             Rotation Risk Low

Bertrand is first choice left back but has been rotated this season, in Gameweek 15  and has suffered a few minor injuries that have curtailed his game time further. Southampton could be short of options at the back so rotation is low but cannot be ruled out.

SUNDERLAND

Lamine Kone             Total Minutes 2,185             Rotation Risk High

Kone has played more minutes than any Sunderland defender but was rested in thir last game against West Ham. If Kone wins his place back he could play in the remaining games. Currently a risk though.

Adnan Januzaj            Total Minutes 1,546             Rotation Risk High

The talented youngster has been rotated much of the season and its unlikely he will feature in all of Sunderland’s remaining games.

Jason Denayer            Total Minutes 1,678             Rotation Risk Medium

He has started the last five games but is in competition with Kone and O Shea.

Billy Jones      Total Minutes 1,820             Rotation Risk Low

Started ever fixture since Gameweek 22, which indicates he is first choice.

Victor Anichebe          Total Minutes 909               Rotation Risk Medium

Big Victor is injury prone so there is always a chance of rotation. He has started the last three games since returning from injury.

Fabio Borini                Total Minutes 1,265 Rotation Risk High

Poor Borini has been rotated for most of his playing career.. He missed most of the early season but has played more minutes in the second half, although often from the bench.

WEST BROM

Gareth McAuley          Total Minutes 2,899             Rotation Risk Medium

McAuley has started every game this season but has been substituted early in two of the last three games. There is a chance the Veteran defender is due a rest.

Craig Dawson             Total Minutes 2,828             Rotation Risk Low

Dawson has started most games this season and is less likely to be rotated.

Chris Brunt      Total Minutes 2,228             Rotation Risk Medium

Brunt can play in a number of positions which reduces his rotation chance but has already been rested three times since his return from injury in Gameweek 7.

Salomón Rondón        Total Minutes 2,464             Rotation Risk High

Ron the don has played more minutes than any other West Brom attacker this season. But in recent matches he has had to share are time with Hal Robson-Kanu.

Darren Fletcher           Total Minutes 2,854 Rotation Risk Low

The former Manchester United midfielder has started every game for West Brom and is their captain. He is unlikely to be rested but at 33 years old it can’t be ruled out.

Thanks for this. Southampton look like an absolute minefield for the doubles.

Their fixtures are a minefield too, I'd avoid, especially as they have their flip flops on already

Great work man. This year's DGW are an absolute minefield! Few teams with incentive and good fixtures and most of them are the top teams which makes it even more difficult to squeeze them in with such prices. Soton are maybe too overrated for their doubles, I think we'll see a boro deja vu at 36 and 37

I know there's so few players who are guaranteed to start all doubles. I think bb potential could be diluted

I agree, I'm not even playing Stephens on dgw36. Got him as an enabler really.
      Though he'll BB in 37.
Only got Gabbi. Hope he plays all matches.

I'll eat my hat if Caceres gets gametime. He's physically unfit and sufferings from mental issues.

Apparently he is on 100k a week, surely he will play, what a waste of money otherwise.

Quick repost. Maybe someone will answer in the morning. Please RMT
Hi guys would appreciate some advice or comments on my wc for gw35 onwards

    Pickford (Cech)
    Kompany, Alonso, Stephens,
    (B Davies, Holgate*)
    Alexis, Hazard, Eriksen, Sané,
    (T Carroll*)
    Kane Vardy, Gabbi.

    TV 105.5
    0 ITB TC gw36 BB gw37
    * single gameweekers in 37
Probably go Kompany to Monreal in 36 or 37. But having Cech I may not bother.

B Davies might lose his place to rose there may be better options imo. I am a Alli over eriksen but it's a coin toss. I see you have tarrol as bench fodder but he could score well. Maybe sane to king upgrade tcarrol for bb. It's difficult that's why i would wc in 36 more info. What's your current team look like?

    Cech/Cabellero

    Monreal/Alosno/Yoshida/Cedric/Holgate

    King/Alli/Albrighton/Sanchez/Hazard

    Kane/Jesus/Gabbiadini
