The ScoutCast – Episode 224 – Maths

You get your Wildcard active, and we’ll do the maths. Or rather Jonty will.

This week’s ScoutCast gets highly technical as my aforementioned co-host goes all Rachel Riley on us (wishful thinking) and attempts to bewilder with a cheeky little algorithm he’s just happened to have rustled up.

Attempting to cut through the noise of the forthcoming double Gameweeks, Andy and Luke join me while Jonty gives his numbers an airing via another round of your targeted queries.

We chew over Gabbiadini’s demise, assess the Gameweek 37 potential offered by Spurs and Chelsea and, yet again, make another assessment of a slumbering Sanchez.

The end result all leads to the ScoutCast Wildcard template squad, as Big Vic crashes in and Luke stands alone in shunning Arsenal’s Chilean timebomb.

This ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Tuesday night. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

If you’re a traditional type, you can acquire the mp3 audio version via this link on the first player below, or take in the full visual experience via the second player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

For GW36 which combo is better?

    A) Sane + Gabi
    B) Jesus + JWP

    currently having Gabi and Tadic.

Sanchez captaincy looks like it will be at RVP/Suarez levels. Amazing for a player so out of form.

    The stench of fear reeks.

And I smell of it too.

Southampton players are even more out of form. What is the alternative?

Hazard would not be a bad idea.

Single gameweek though, Surely Sanchez with 2 games is the better bet.

But Chelsea's home game is very very good. Middlesbro need to win, there will be gaps. If not for Man Utd's defensive injuries, Hazard over Sanchez would make a lot of sense. And even then, Jose knows how to tighten a team at the back.

Yeah thats a fair argument. We can't argue with the pedigree of Sanchez though. He and Hazard are like for like.

Perhaps its Arsenals defence. As a Koscielny owner its a strong outside bet I suppose.

        Captaincy alternatives -
        Hazard
        Kane
        Ozil
        Koscielny
        Cech
        and for the very bravest
        Walcott

Rule out Walcott, his form is worse than Sanchez, Ozil could be thrown into the same category as Sanchez.

Arsenals defence is worth a look though

Let is not be doubting the power of Walcott's on/off switch. He still can do a hat trick in a half.

All single gameweekers, not a lot of ambition there. I don't know why KDB got a mention as well as Aguero who could easily sit out for Jesus and the young guns behind him. Monreal has an element of risk attached too.

A DGWer clearly has a higher points ceiling as they play twice.

                  6 years, 12 months ago

It's ambition that gave me a poor OR. Clearly not all DGWers will outscore all SGWers, so there has to be a line. For me, no DGWer is above the line set by some other players in my team.

Having said that I dont have Sanchez, but as you may suspect, I would feel the same if he were in my team

And I'm not sure how their points ceiling is higher either. Certainly not clear

They play 180mins instead of 90mins. More time on the pitch to get FPL points. Its also a given that they collect at least 2 additional points for the extra appearance.

Ok so you really are arguing that all DGW players that play both games have a higher ceiling than all SGW players.

Then 'points ceiling' must be a useless term.

I take it you don't understand what points ceiling is. If you think it automatically means more points then you are mistaken.

Haha. Does Stephens have a higher points ceiling than Alonso? Does Romeu have a higher ceiling than Hazard? If the answer is yes, then it's true, I don't understand what the meaning is. Or at the very least, we disagree about the meaning. I'm sorry to have offended you, administrator.

Man Utd's defence problems just about makes it 'ok' but there's massive potential for success for anyone who captains elsewhere. Two fails for Sanchez with 60% (or whatever) captaining him and if you get a 30 point captain....Christmas Day.

The Arsenal Southampton double double looks destined for catastrophic failure thanks to their current form. Its not madness to go for players with 4 fixtures instead of 2 though is it. A real awkward situation.

I have three and I'm playing two as it stands.

There's no one who looks like they could score/assist in both games, and double clean sheets is just as unlikely. So perhaps, these DGW players are just SGW+2 at best. Maybe it's better to prepare fully for GW37's doubles instead.

Jakupovic vs Caballero on GW 36

    Japu :
    Hull Home conceded 26
Sun Away goal 10 (2nd lowest on PL)

    Caballero :

    CRY Away goal 26

    Hi Everyone.

I'll assume my team is fairly template but anybody got any thoughts on my team for this week and next? No money in the bank but I am on my wild card. Feels weird having Alonso on the bench. Thinking of swapping out for Yosh. Got my bench boost for next week so I reckon the double Southampton is OK for next week. Appreciate your thoughts.

    Cech
    Stephens / Monreal / Yoshida
    Eriksen / Sane / King / Sanchez(c) / Hazard
    Jesus / Kane

    Cabeallero / Alonso / Davies / Anichebe

I'd play Azpi, 1 Southampton defender is plenty this week

Maybe playing Alonso has a lower ceiling but it's safer?

Benching Alonso is foolish. There's every chance Saints defenders score 0pts twice

    Good to go kids:

    Willy
    Monreal Stephens Azpi
    Alli Sanchez (c) Hazard King
    Jesus Kane Gabbi

    Pickford Davies Holgate Albrighton

1m itb to upgrade Davies to Vert if Rose is back, or Monreal to Kosc etc..

    Anything missing?
    Cheers all

Not a fan of benching Robertson at home to Sunderland tbh Hull have been excellent at home and Sunderland are just rubbish. Boro scored 2 v City would you consider Kompany to the bench?

        A) TC Sanchez/hazard/Kane this wk n BB nxt.

        B) BB this gw. Pickford,Daniels,Sane,Holgate and TC someone else nxt wk. Hazard most probably.
